OH works all week and his only day off is a sunday, and thats the only time we get chance for a lie in, but were all early risers anyway, so on a sunday DS stays in his room and plays or watches tv, and we get up at 7 and have a cuppa and then go back to bed snuggle up and watch tv till 10 ish.0

I dont see why people need to lie in for so long? There are many people who get up and on with things the same as any other day despite working full time. I would have thought 9/9.30 was a good time to get up at the weekend.
To catch up on sleep! I only get an average of 6hrs of sleep a night during the week, find work really tiring and I do a lot of running during the week also so that by the weekend I really need to rest. On one day at the weekend I sleep for as long as I need to (often 12hrs+) which maybe as late as midday so that I don't feel tired the following week.0 -
I love love LOVE my OH.
He doesn't need to sleep much, really, always wakes up between 5 -6.30am, and when hes about he lets me have lie ins on Saturday AND Sunday, because, as he always says, he is already up anyway!

by the sound of it, i got the short straw, i was always the one to get up early with the kids, the one who got up at night..( even if other half was up watching tv he would come and wake me up to say whatever child was awake for me to deal with) He has always needed a lot less sleep than me, i need about 10 hours a night but can quite often sleep for 12 given the chance ( i have several medical problems) and he can make do with 6 or so, i go to bed just after 9pm and he will stay up till 12/1am or later ( he says he cant sleep any earlier but drops off in front of the tv most nights) then when the kids were little i had to struggle to get up from 6am onwards while he slept.. ( there was no way he would go to bed earlier so he could still get the hours he needed to enable me to sleep in and get mine even occasionally) He also slept for hours in the living room in front of the tv during the day and i would have to try and keep the kids quiet and not wake him... Drove me mad......
Least my kids are now adults, 23,21 and 15, but even when our 4 yr old grandaughter sleeps over and wakes on the odd occasion he will come and wake me up when he is watching tv..
I now love school holidays and weekends......15 ds doesn't normally appear before lunch... really nice to lie in till 9am ish.. dont stay in bed much later even with disabilitys..

Bless him, he is quite thoughtful in that respect. He asks them to tidy their rooms a bit, then he lets them come downstairs to watch cartoons and gives them breakfast. :T
I had an ex like the mentioned one above who would be wide awake then wake me to change nappies etc in the night and they were his babies! Makes me appreciate my lovely OH all the more :j
I just need an abnormal amount of sleep. His theory is that I don't get enough 'deep sleep' (i spend almost all night thrashing around and talking in my sleep, and have vivid dreams
) which is why I get so tired and need so long, whereas he just snaps into a deep sleep and thus only needs a few hours. It's great, unless you're trying to tell him off about something and he tunes out then starts snoring  Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Our solution to avoid situations like OP's is not to have major plans for every weekend morning.
This gives both DH and me the opportunity to have a lie-in every now and then.
Officially, our rule is that Saturdays are my lie-in days and Sundays are DH's. If we are planning to do something, then that person's lie-in gets cancelled (which is why I usually plan things for Sundays, LOL!). Well, not totally cancelled, as we still stay in bed longer than we would on a weekday.
Unofficially though, I'm not a morning person at all
, and DH needs less sleep than me, so I do get more lie-ins.
I also use my excuse of "I did all those night feeds for all those years :A" (which is true), even though it's been about 2 years since DS2 last had a night feed. :rotfl:
Also, it's an excellent opportunity for DH to spend quality time with his delightful chidlren.
Anyway, it has been scientifically proven that women need more sleep because they use their brains more! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.:D0 -
I feel like such a lazy begger now!:o
I had lie in today and didn't get up til after 12!!
DH has his tomorrow and will probably be up around 11ish, maybe later but thats up to him when he wakes.
We have our routine of Saturday morning DH gets up with DD and takes her to his mums house and then they go off to visit other family and get things for his mum.
Sunday morning I get up with DD and get her sorted then my mum usually takes her to Church at about 10.45am
If there is something we really want to do as a family then we arrange it and make plans but generally theres nothing special happening and both me and DH can sleep through anything so no worries about waking each other up.0 -
Do you still get up jackie? Mine are those ages next month and we let them go downstairs and watch tv for a bit and they often get their own breakfast. One of us still comes down before the other though!
They usually get up on their own, the older one will do cereal, and they'll watch TV. but that's at 7am!!! Then one of us will get up by 8 /8.15 (if they haven't already been in bouncing on the bed!) But if the OH get a long lie then it's til 12 or 2 which drives me nuts, I feel 10 or 10.30 is long enough, so that we can still have a weekend.
(I have to sheepishly add that I got a long lie till 11am yesterday, which I don't think I've ever done before.)It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

We started to have the chance of a lie-in once we'd trained the 3 little Luxors to stay in bed till the digital clock said '7.00' - our lie-in being from approx 5.30 till 7.00 - oh, the joys of having 3 early birds

SIL does this with our eldest neice. Except SIL has now learnt that she can put the clock back an hour so little un comes into mum at 7 when its actually 8
and at weekends its been known to go back another hour. Kids are so easy to trick :P Green and White Barmy Army!0
