I was in a new "Tesco Homestore" in Southampton yesterday (down in West key retail park) they had quite a few of these laptops there (as soon as you walk in) at about 12ish I imagine they had quite a few more...
Hope this helps someone.0 -
Live in Norfolk, any fellow MSE'rs know of a local Tesco store that might have them in?0

Acer Travelmate 2414WLMi @ £300
Acer Aspire 3634WLMi @ £450
Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi @ £600
Not a massive saving really, I mean if you missed out the first two could be bought online for only £20-30 more.
The second one is available online for £470 with a free Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS Data Card, which includes some free data, dont know if this is available at Tesco.
Also the model online has 1024MB and 100GB, is this the spec of the tesco one? Problem is with the Acers, one particular model number quite often has various specs, ie one 5672WLMi might have 100gb, the other elswhere might have 120gb etc.
As for the 3rd, cant seem to find it on UK site.0 -

Was in Tesco Haverfordwest (Pembrokeshire, deepest, Darkest, West Wales) this morning and they had a few of the sub£300 laptops there. One less now though as I picked one up myself. A wee bit slower than my main setup (but then that was very much to be expected) Seems great for students who will need it for net stuff and writing up stuff.
Off topic, but i've been very very drunk a couple of times in Haverfordwest (years ago now though) as my ex used to live in Milford Haven and i travelled down a few times from Manchester to see him (8 and a bit hours on a train though  ), there wasn't much else to do, it seemed haha.Lost lbs =

Thanks for that. I called all our local stores again, who still could not give me exact dates (other than "maybe next week"), so I called Southampton on Sunday and they said they'd reserve me two. So I jumped in the car and drove there (I live in Surrey!). When I got there they only had one for me (Grrrr) as they'd sold the others before the lady even got to the shelf to get my reserves. Still, I got one of them. The other was for my sister in law who has today found out they have them in Twickenham (double Grrr, cos it's much closer), although they didn't know when they were getting them when I called them on Saturday!
Anyway, delighted with the machine. The screen is excellent. The only bugbear I've got is that the drive is partitioned into two (technically three, but I presume one of them is a recovery partition) of about 17GB each. The idea is one is for your data so if you reload Windows you don't lose it. It doesn't stop you losing your data if the drive craps itself though, and I'm going to use my desktop as my main repository still, so I'll merge the partitions later (always fun) to create a 35GB C drive.
For £299 this is a very good deal.0 -
Many apologies but a general question about the £300 model as I don't know much about this brand.
I've got a desktop and laptop already, but I need another laptop for internet use, ipod, Sims2/expansion packs and to take away with me on business as opposed to my other laptop at home.
As long as it can do the above, I'm in. Please advise.
Thanks in advance.OGB - Queen of Bling baby...:A0 -
If you want to know who nearest to you has a laptop ... just phone 0800 505555 [tesco cs] and ask them. Give em your postcode.
I want the £300 one [for a friend] and the nearest store is an hours drive. Still £50 cheaper than comet online and £100 cheaper than comet instore.0 -
Comet stores will price match any tesco store in UK + 10% difference.
You need to give them the tesco number of the store with the product in stock, so they can check.0 -

Phoned the number and was told they couldn't check which store had stock, only give me the phone number for my nearest store, which I know didn't have any yesterday :rolleyes:This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
