ok. i got my insurance with the co-operative http://www.cis.co.uk/ i believe at the time it was highly competitive,
my mate got his with endsleigh but haggled a bit...i think the converstaion went something like this....
Them - 'ok the insurance will cost X ammount'
Him - 'Blimmy ok, never mind ill go to Y company who are chargine 500£ less' which was a slight lie
Them - 'oh really, maybe we can come to some kind of compramise...' and thats how it came down in price0 -
Your going to do well to be under £1000.
I insured my first car 1.3 Ford KA when I was 18 ( 6 years ago now) and that was £1200 with Direct line.
It was the cheapest I could find.
You'll complain about it like I have and others do but the figures the insurance companies give out are accurate.
I've had countless mates writing off cars and accidents etc growing up so you can see why we are charged more.
Things get better after a few years and just shop around each time.

Can anyone offer any advice on car insurance for boys aged 17/18? Most companies quote enormous premiums. It is probably cheaper to buy a banger and insure it 3rd party! Help, please. :eek:0

Have you thought about buying an older car, beetle, old 2cv, mini. Anything up to 1971 is road tax free, if you limit your mileage and go with classic car insurers you will find it much cheaper.
If you want a modern car I'm afraid you are going to have to bite the bullet and pay the premium knowing that it will tumble down year on year, as long as you shop around each renewal.
Best thing to do is try as many as possible, especially supermarkets like sainsbury's tesco etc. The big thing these days are online Quotes, but try telephone as well, preferably at the end of the month when the call centres are struggling with their targets.
Look out for my thread on here for ins for a £1, you never know!!.0
