  • flashgord,

i got the same letter yesterday.
i'd cancelled by post, within the time limit, and followed up with emails.luckily I too closed my account before any more money taken.
they tell me the envelope my letter was in has a postmark a month later than when i sent it! funnily enough when i asked them to show me this they didn't answer.
i've asked for advice on the "best value dating sites" thread on here, and got some great replies.
i'll go have a look and see what number post it was,as i don't know how to do links!!

  • Hi all

I am having exactly the same problems and it stinks, companies like this should not be allowed to conn poor inncoent people, its immoral.

I have had an exchange of emails with their customer services team who keep insisting that all they are asking is for my to comply with their request and make my payment.

I have now copied in Thomas Brooking (see earlier in the thread for msg from him) & advised that I will be passing this to my Solicitor if they continue to pursue me for the full amount as I find the correspondence very disturbing and upsetting.

Has anyone actually had a court case brought against them yet - I would be really interested to know.

    Kind regards
    Rachael

Hi, I've last week (04/01/2013) received a letter from solicitors in Ireland telling me if i don't pay in 7 days, they will instruct Be2 to take me to court through an English law firm.
anyone else gone this far or beyond with them please?

  • Let the battle commence - just received this email today!

Companies like this need stopping in their tracks.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has challenged the solicitors etc.

  • Has anyone been taken to court by be2?

Has anyone tried to get any authority involved in stopping them? If so I would like to offer support in that.

I've not said anything negative about them in forums up until now, but last week I was threatened with court action by a Munich law firm, unless I pay more than two hundred euros.

I only signed up for a one month trial paying £5 initially, almost a year ago now. I cancelled by fax the day before that month ended. It was hard enough to figure out how to cancel. But I had missed the well hidden terms and conditions that they then tried to apply, saying I had cancelled too late.

I had already instructed my credit card company not to pay anything further. When be2 couldn't take any more money from me, they sent me an invoice/receipt for the £5 I'd paid weeks earlier, which did clearly state their cancellation terms.

But this was sent by email AFTER I had already cancelled. When I pointed out this was the first time I had seen the terms invoice, they ignored me. I called twice. They were very nice and said they'd escalate my complaint. Then I'd get another demand for money for nothing!

Their law firm continues to email me every couple of months. I tell them the same thing.

Be2 have since changed the web site slightly, and it is now clearer - but I'm worried I won't be able to prove that I wasn't adequately informed when I signed up, if it goes to court.

I really don't want to pay this awful company anything, I know I am in the right here, but I don't want to go to the time and expense setting up a legal defence either. This whole situation is very upsetting. Its good to know I am not alone in it, but horrid that such a company continues to try to treat people this way.
  • Hi guys

Just seen the post from MandyMay9 - totally sympathise with you as I'm in the same position.

I have requested that the Solicitor sends a letter of intent to my home address twice now, so I check that this claim is not fraudulent and I am perfectly within my rights to request this.

My first reply was sent 20th February requesting the letter of intent - nothing received. Then on 13th March I received a further email which was threatening all sorts so I requested the same in my reply sent 14th March.

Will let you all know what happens next. But one piece of advice I would give is make sure there is a paper chain, so that if the matter does go to court, the judge will see you have taken action to try to resolve the situation.

    Thanks
