I wrote this letter by registered post today as advised by CAB. Have had enough!
Re: Breach of contract
To whom it may concern:
I am writing to inform you that following legal advice, I am holding you in breach of contract.
I am most disgusted withyour website. I have found out today that your company has taken £149.94 out ofmy bank account without my permission. At no time have I given you permissionto withdraw this money from my bank. Your site does not make it clear that youwould do this after a free trial for £5.00, take my bank details and thendemand this amount of money without consulting me!
I have tried to contact Be2 by e-mail severaltimes regarding certain issues and I have always received an 'automated reply'which is totally unsatisfactory. You do not have a contact telephone numberwhich is quite ridiculous for a so-called ‘business.’ I have even reported amember for foul language and abuse and I yet again received an automated replywhich had nothing to do with the case!
Your service is totallyunsatisfactory; members have contacted me (and there are very few) fromsometimes over 100 miles away from where I live and most of them do not haveprofile pictures. You send totally inappropriate matches - again with noprofile pictures.
It is almost impossible tofind out how to cancel and delete my profile, let alone how to claim my moneyback which you did not even gain my permission to take in the first place! Iwas also extremely alarmed that I could not cancel my 'unauthorized so-called'Premium membership' unless I put it in writing and sent it to Luxembourg! What guarantee do I have that you will receive this? Another automated e-mail Isuppose!! Not only that, but you have the audacity to tell me that further feeswill be taken from my bank in February 2013!!
I will be posting this letteron 'money saving expert' and other ‘scam’ forums as well as reporting you to theappropriate authorities having already reported you to Trading Standards in England.I have already noted that you are at the top of Google findings for scams andthere have been many complaints about your website – some people havingreceived threats of debt collectors! Youare targeting innocent people with your money-making policies and I demand afull refund with a guarantee that no more funds will be withdrawn from my bankaccount!
If I do not receive a refundwithin 14 days of this letter, I will be taking this matter further with more legal advice
Yours faithfully, etc......
I was advised to send this registered to keep track of whether it was recieved.
Please can anyone tell me if they have done something similar and whether they received a reply..... thanks A

I'd be grateful if you'd pass these details on to me, because the head of their customer services posted on this forum inviting replies, but I'm not confident I'll be refunded without taking it further. It galls me because I e-mailed them to cancel my membership as soon as I was made redundant, and, knowing this, they debited me £149.94 yesterday.
Carole2512
Could you pass it on to me too?
Many thanks A0 -
Avoid like the plague. Can anyone help?

I e-mailed this elusive Mr Brooking and he e-mailed back claiming that he could not find my details! Strangely enough, he can find them to take unauthorised payment from my bank account!

I joined Be2 for a £5 trial month period, read the small print and got scared so tried to cancel. It worked! I sent a signed fax this morning at about 10:30 and received an email 2 hours later confirming cancellation. This is what I did (after many tries going round in circles)
click on the "profile" tab
click on "settings" on the pink bar
click on "view/change" for premium membership
click on "click here to continue"
click on "click here for more information"
click on "premium membership and payment" (which is the sixth down in the help topics)
click on "payment"
scroll down or click on "How can I end the automatic renewal of my Premium Membership"
click on "ending your premium membership online here"
this link sometimes work but not always. If it does you fill in the form and then it turns it into a pdf which you download and have to fax to them. (I read this forum and knew to sign the fax before I sent it, so thanks MSE people!)
alternatively it tells you to fax some info:
"If you still want to end your Premium Membership, simply send us the following information via fax or by post, so your credit card or bank account will no longer be charged:
- full name
- address
- email address
- username
- date of purchase of Premium Membership
- payment sum
- reason for cancellation
- personal signature
Your fax will be processed within 48 hours."
Hope this helps.0 -
Please can I post this company as being a total scam with atrocious customer service skills!!
In addition they pry on those who are struggling in this current economic climate by stating that they offer a premium service for £5 only to then store your details and repeatedly attempt to deduct money.
Please help in trying to bring this company to closure for all the underhandedness they are getting away with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Just an update to my previous posts. My bank managed successfully to recover the £149.50 this company took. Since then, I have received three monthly e-mails threatening all sorts of dire retribution. However, legally, their T&C's are not explicit enough, since they don't explain the cancellation process properly. The T & Cs simply state that cancellation has to be in writing - this I consider I did by sending an e-mail. At no point does it say you have to download a fax, and print it out, sign it and send it.
I have tried various agencies to see if they can help, and did receive a little help from the Uk European Consumer Centre, who tried to arbitrate, but Be2 were not interested, and would not come to an agreement. This organisation only appears to try to negotiate an agreement, and will not fight your case for you. I am just awaiting the next installment, and the promised litigation, which I will fight all the way.0 -
Hi everyone, I have also been a victim of be2 but fortunately i canceled my card before they could take any money, i have now recieved an email from be2 threatening that they are now taking legal action, i have had a letter from intrum justita and intrum have also telephoned me trying to recover a total about of 186 euros.
It is obviously a worying situation and im wondering what to do, has anyone ever got to the stage i am at (recieving letters from intrum justita etc) should i ignore it? will they go away? will it go to court? do i have no choice but to pay?
Hope to get some help, thanks for reading.0
