"Sorry to hear that you and others have been having difficulty with cancelling your subscription on our site.

Please do e-mail me at thomas.brooking@be2.com, let me know your username or e-mail used to register, and I will look into your case personally.

We do run a number of trial offers on our site. These enable our customers to try out our service before they decide whether to commit to a full period of Premium Membership. However, all these trials do revert to the standard Premium Membership prices when the trial ends. All this is made very clear in our terms and conditions, at the point of payment and in the billing receipt sent to all customers.

Our customer services team always asks customers to include the whole messaging history when they write to us so that we know what our customers are talking about... not so we can tamper with those mails or misrepresent. If any details of your mail were altered, please be reassured this was an unintentional error on behalf of one of our agents.

I hope this mail goes someway to reassuring you and others reading this post. As I said, please do write to me. If there has been an error in the handling of your case I will investigate it and ensure it is corrected.

All the best

Had the same problem as everyone else - went through the free trial cr*p (to get free credits for an online golf game :embarasse ), went to immediately cancel and lo and behold it is impossible. Has anybody emailed this chap, and is he actually helpful/ real?

I too have been caught by this company, I went on for a cheap trial run and cancelled by email as it clearly states in the terms and conditions should work, received an email saying they won't accept email cancellations. Tried using the cancellation portal many times but it just goes in a loop and doesn't cancel. They took more money which my bank successfully returned. Sadly I listened to my bank and ignored them. My bank also said they had cancelled on my behalf and not to worry. Be2 are now chasing me and threateing me with collection agencies and damaging my credit rating. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm a single grandmother and feeling very intimidated
• Hi

I am reading these posts with interest. I am another victim of this site. Joined like so many others and lost the £149. My bank said they had cancelled on my behalf but last month they again took £149 from my account. My bank was able to get my money back and have told me to ignore them, that they are just trying to frighten me with threats of court action and debt collectors plus damage to my credit rating. Frankly I just want the nightmare to be over. So much for finding love, any help or contact details would be really happily accepted

hi there, I too appear to have fallen victim to these utter clowns. Could somebody do me a favour and let me know what the billing company is listed as on your statement? And I presume it's for 149.95? I need to tell my banks fraud prevention team as soon as possible.

Cheers,
A

Also, Kezza, I wouldn't worry about your credit rating, or debt collection agencies, or any such nonsense. I've dealt with various silly companies over the years, it's all standard fare I'm afraid.

Can't touch your credit rating as you don't have a credit agreement with them (it's a paid for service using card details), and bailiffs? hahaha don't make me laugh, not a chance. Scare tactics, don't let them bother you :)
• Be2 is an appalling company that just rips people off. I had what I thought was a temporary trial for £5.00. Next thing I know I receive an very unpleasant and threatening email demanding £149.00 otherwise they involve debt collectors!! I would advise anyone to stay well away from this site as it just cons people.

• On reading through all these posts, I can see that I am not the only to be well and truly ripped off!!
The matter is now with my Bank but I honestly dont know what they can do, it appears I have been robbed of £149!!

Martin, can anything be done about this web site? I am frantically trying to cancel but it is not easy.

Is there an Ombudsman I can write to??

For anyone visiting this dating website, please beware, dont be fooled, they are con artists!! Preying on the "old" in my case and vulnerable - despicable!

I would welcome any suggestions on how to get out of this....

Thank you,
Pat
• B2's set up is designed to frustrate and bully. They won't let up. To have any real clout against this company enough complaints need to be made to the national consumer and Trading Standards regulatory bodies in which ever country you are in. If they receive enough complaints they will be forced to act against B2. Please repost this information onto other forums and let's start fighting this company with some clout instead of piece meal with individual complaints. Here are the organisations you can contact in the UK, if you are not in the UK please find the similar organisations in your own country and post their contact details on the web.

The following are all UK (+44) phone numbers
TRADING STANDARDS Tel: 08454 040506
EURO CONSUMER (part of Trading Standards dealing with cross boarder disputes) Tel: 08456 040503.
CONSUMER PORTECTION CORPORATION NETWORK (If they receive enough complaints about a specific trader they will share the knowledge with their counterpart in Luxembourg). Tel: 08457 224499
ACTAION FRAUD. (Government agency against fraud in the UK). Tel: 0300 1232040
ECC TRADING STANDARDS INSTITUTE: I can't post a web address here, but they are on the web under ukecc.net. This is a trading standards web site providing advice and support for people shopping cross boarder within the EU. Please write to them and complain.

Yep it has happened to me - only found out about it when I lost £149.90 this morning from my account. Will be contactiung all the trading standards suggested, also going to try BBC watchdog and I shall be starting a facebook campaign.

I am thinking of sending this letter to all the contacts I can find on the site:
Do you think it is a good idea or should I leave it alone?

Hi There
I have just discovered £149.94 taken from my account this morning from this site despite me being on the introductory offer. I found I am unable to cancel my membership or change my banking details on this site; neither are there any contact details where you can phone or write to.
If you have any doubts please check for yourself if you can cancel, and Google this company to see the reviews and forums that have grown up about them.
It is my intention to contact BBC Watchdog, Trading Standards and other official bodies and I will be running facebook and Twitter campaigns to highlight this company also.
I wish you well in your search for someone

Best Wishes
