Right it seems a few of us are up and wanting to discuss.
The only proper answer I had was from the other thread ( old style ) from Butterfly Brain who advised me to claim on the insurance for new doors. I have read the instructions on this product and on no count does it state that it removes enamel paint from any surface. In fact according to poster it is too aggressive for commercial use.
No I'm not afraid of my wife, I was making light hearted of a massive mistake I made while trying to help with medial jobs which I often do. So now with some luck I will be banished fron partaking of such trivial matters

He'd been cutting down a tree. That was him. :D I was driving down the street at the back of the house a day or 2 later and saw a red suit up the big tree in the photo. He was like a monkey. :rotfl: I got a new twirly out of it though. He didn't have any choice. He killed that one good and proper.

My father-in-law (my husband is 44 btw) wouldn't let him get a chainsaw. Dh had to cut all those trees down with a £3odd bowsaw from B&Q.

Love it! Did he buy the suit 'specially for cutting down trees???:rotfl:

To be fair I wouldn't let my husband anywhere near a chainsaw, probably wouldn't let him near a tree with a saw either though!!

Nope, he had that already. :p

Along with the boots, the gloves and the hat. :D

He did buy that petrol thinggy for £200 because his dad wouldn't let him buy a chainsaw. It's a little wee chainsaw that can only cut off twigs.

Like I say 2 letters/phonecalls to start with.

1st to Cilit bang regarding their dangerously strong ? industrial strength cleaning product that literally peels paint off (get that bottle out of the bin and keep for evidence), advise about the damage that has been caused to your appliance and the damage that will be caused to yoru other 'appliance' when the wife finds out! ;)

2nd to maker of freezer as to their 'substandard quality' of paint used on the door which peeled off when cleaned with a simple, water based, household cleaner (do not mention dangerous cilit bang).
Hunt out instructions of freezer if you can and be sure there is no mention of not using chemical cleaners on outside of product. Point this out to manufacturer and state your shock/horror and worry at this unsafe peeling paint.

Between them both you might get some form of compensation....or maybe a lifetime supply of cilit bang and a can of paint!:p

I'm sure once you explain she won't be that mad. You were doing something nice - a bit of cleaning. Reminds me of Friends when Chandler does the cleaning and forgot where everything went.

It will also mean she never lets him clean again........like when my DH tried to help me and start dinner since I was stuck in traffic on way home.

I had about 6 phone calls back and forth as to how to brown mince, how to add sauce then how to cook spaghetti (making spag bol) I gave step by step instructions as simply as I could, right down to boiling kettle for pasta and follow time on packet instructions.

I arrived home to find a perfect 'block' of mince browned on all sides, raw in the middle sitting in a pan surrounded by sauce and the spaghetti sticking out of the kettle!!!!:eek:
I let him off with not cooking for a long time after that!

Like this, might even do the letters now just in case she is waiting for me silently, as these ladies do.
I'm still amused as to how the hell did this topic turn into gnomes and tree felling, although topical and amusing. To be honest he couldn't get away with it, could he? Even my wife would know a tree as come down and her rotary dryer is missing!! I think. To be honest you ladies don't know half of what us blokes have done ( within decency of course ) without you knowing.
