I sold two today which is great for me, one of them was a real pensioner one of the very first batch to go up.
Oh, and thanks to whoever it was that said keep an eye on the Mills and Boon type things. I bought 6 for a pound from my local library, not M and B but similar in style, so thin and easy to post, and one sold today for £1 which allowing for postage allowance actualy puts me in profit for the whole batchI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've sold one book in the last month.
I have more listed than ever, as well.

Oh dear grimelda, have you looked at the competion lately? can you jazz up your descriptions a bit?
Yvonne, the general thought is that the buyers that give you 4 out of 5 are all teachers, they don't want to give you top marks, they want to give you something to aspire to :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
My Jesus book that was pending a couple of weeks ago has re-sold, and I think I managed to bump the price up slightly after Amazon re-listed it for me. Other than that, my sales haven't been great. I am having a bit of a chicken and egg question go through my mind at the moment - I can't make my sales more competitive against the big boys, as they will be pro-merchant and I have to take the 86p fee into account. If I was pro-merchant, wondered if that might make it easier - big gamble to take, I suppose?
I was watching some books on ebay, all worth quite a bit on Amazon (if they sold, which I think they would), they finished this morning, and I forgot all about it!! I really don't have any brain cells left - they are all in my children!! They only went up a pound between last night and this morning, (the books!!) and I am so annoyed with myself!!!
Went to a school summer fair this morning, and it was very poor - very disappointed as had hoped to be able to pick some books up. Oh well, car boot sale next week, I guess...
With regards to selling books on ebay - I have been looking at books listed, and the listings that use the sort of picture of the book that Amazon uses on their website look far better, I think, than those with a photo of the book. Where do the ebayers get these pictures from - are they copied from Amazon (for example), and is it okay to do this?
Sorry for long post, have to put it all in, whilst I remember!!!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
bella, I have a few books listed on ebay and I have used my own photos and make a point of saying so in the listing so that they can see a curled corner etc and know exactly what they're getting.
You can make your photo look a bit better if you use a plain cloth on your table (black or white are best) then prop your book up by about an inch and a half, that way you don't get that tapering effect of the perspective of the book looking big at the bottom and thinner at the top.
I sympathise about forgetting the auctions, I used to do that but now I use a sniper, I set it up as soon as I see something I'm interested in then leave it and forget about it.
Re - pro merchant, last autumn they had a half price special joining offer for 3 months and I think that we all hoped that they'd have another one before now.
Well done with Jesus!0 -
Thanks AT - I remember the half price offer, but I was just starting out then... I do keep hoping that they may have another one...
I will find a tablecloth and try your suggestion tomorrow, thanks!!
Have just stumbled across this on ebay -http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190003456922&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 - wish I had the space, the nerve to purchase etc - saw it just before it ended but far too scary for me!! Could have used some of my redundancy money, but rather a lot to fork out all at once I guess. Was anyone from here the successful bidder?? Seller seems to check out looking at Amazon, and it would have meant that I wouldn't have had to go back to work (got a new job)!! Am so used to being off now that I don't know how I am going to fit work in!:rotfl:AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
