The recorded delivery service claims it is for:If you have an important item to deliver, our Recorded Signed For™ service gives you complete peace of mind with proof of posting and an electronic copy of the signature available online.
I have had much correspondence with RM over their apparent collusion with CPW over not getting a signature.
The RM answer has been along the lines of:
This company gets around 500 to 800 items of mail a day. It is unreasonable to expect them to sign individually for each item, so we leave a list with them to check and sign and return to us at their leisure!
Royal Mail's solution to protests that they fail on their advertised promise to give peace of mind by getting a signature on delivery is to refund the cost of the recorded delivery add on!0 -
thank you quentin. this is the original issue of the thread and is exactly the problem.0

This was why I thought we could look at this issue again. Obviously Quentin has had previous dealings with RM over the issue to which they responded as he has stated.
This was why I wanted to hit them with the actual evidence which was 'Here are the RD slips which show delivery and heres the ones which don't show it' anything over a certain timeframe- hence why I suggested December 2009 and January 2010, to keep the issue fresh. And then ask for comments from them.
I know that it has been commented that people feel that the issue will get back to them if they post any praise or grievance about the company however thanks to another masterstroke from RM you no longer have to fill in the RD form when you want to post sometihng, the man/ or woman behind the counter does it for you without asking for your name- merely the address to where the post is going. Hence there is nothing to tie you to the RD slip that you have submitted and nothing to trace ou back with. However if you have any concerns about 'big brother' etc watching over you please PM me.
Anyone else had any good or bad experiences from them recently? Please share and let me know/0 -

the actaul signature in this list isnt an issue as such
if the RD/SD barcodes are added to the printout then they will be 'confirmed' as delivered by default due to the way RM's tracking system works
the problem is for items not scanned onto the printout
you see RD items travel with normal mail so need to be sorted out of the mail to be added to the printout
if these are missed then thats it
their mail will be trayed or bagged so the delivery driver wont look at the mail delivered
RM will be talking about(i assume) 5-800 signature items then you have the normal mail alongside
SD items are seperate all the way and scanned through the journey0 -

The issue is that the bulk delivery doesn't seem to get updated on the RM system until the customer returns the "list" to RM.
Then should you wish to issue proceedings against CPW, you cannot make reference to the "proven" date of delivery of the claim form in your particulars of claim.0 -

nope thats not how the system works, for signature yes but confirming as delivered it does not
to generate a printout you have to 'allocate' those items to a delivery barcode that relates to the duty or for big companies that particular company
after printing that delivery sheet (2 copies, one for RM one for customer) that goes on delivery
later that day the scanning gun used to create that print out has to be closed
so all dutys scanned on the gun are confirmed as delivered
at the end of the day all duties must be confirmed to close
with compaies receiving bulk deliveries its commin to leave the pribtout and collect the next day on delivery as there is no time for a delivery postie to stand while the customer tallies 100's of tracking numbers with items
however they should ensure they get the previous days printout on delivery0 -
just thought i would add my two pence in- made a claim for the other half which hasn't been delivered according to the Royal mail website- not had my cheque in either.
Make a change- have p'm the tracking number to you for your cause.
Don't think you'll get anywhere but good luck to you!Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Then you may need the tracking number for yourself (not that it's likely to do much good if it didn't track - suggest you get onto RM. Giving the number to someone else may be generous but in your case it could prove foolhardy!0

Thanks for that Del Boy, i presume you cant be the only one to have encountered a problem with this bunch.
Mobilejunkie why would he be foolish to provide a tracking number? the company does not record on their systems the tracking number against the claim.
When you phone to chase up the issue of cashbacks with them and they ask for the tracking number the only thing they do is to put the number on the royal mail website to see if it says anything, if yes then the claim is accepted if no it is not!0 -
And you know this how? If someone is happy to risk their own cashback by donating their own RM to someone who has been "careless" enough to lose their own (when they might yet need it themselves), so be it. I would (and have) only passed on my tracking numbers AFTER I got my own cashback relating to it. It's not rocket science!0
