And also forgot to add my neighbours cat was sitting under the car when the person ran over it, his claws were half gone through him trying to free himself, he also had blood shot eyes where he was straining to get away, so maybe he was hit by a car but mearly never moved when someone got in there's and drove off.. Suppose cats think they are safe under cars and forget about there tails sticking out..
yes that sounds like a likely scenario! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
I suppose with all the worry the last thing you will think about his his toliet behaviour, but am glad you now know cause its so important and will prob be very painful for him, my neighbours cat had quite a few accidents in her bedroom, so keep an eye under your bed for little accidentsMum of 2 adorable children & 2 cheeky cats who were born on 23.04.2009 :rotfl:0

he's still cowering under there with big bright eyes - I feel so sorry for himIf you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Grab him some of his fav things tomorrow, i gave my neighbours cat bits of ham and even tuna when she was away, it was as much to know he was eating as a treat to make him feel better, i should imagine he will be like that for a few days, especially seeing as you dont know if he has been out like that for a few days or if it happened last night, he must be so traumatised the poor love, he is home now thank godness and thats the best place for him, just keep checking he is ok and reasurring him you are there... Please keep us updated on how he is doingMum of 2 adorable children & 2 cheeky cats who were born on 23.04.2009 :rotfl:0

My fat cat was hit by a car a few years ago - 4am vet call out, 3 surgeries (including a hip joint removal and very detailed surgery to remove small fragments of bone from his crushed paw - he now has a "clump" paw lol) and a LOT of R&R in the vets... £1500... so I would think you're looking at a fair bit less than that
As for the cat... Not eating could be shock and I'm frankly a little surprised the vet hasn't taken him in for observation...
However that said - we haven't examined him and nor are most of us vetsBut if you are not happy with the treatment then remember you can vote with your feet... there are more than one vet in most areas
Fat cat btw is still with us, still fat and despite a clump paw and only having one hip joint he's still catching mice and birds for me (gee thanks...) and scaling 6ft fences. They can be hardy little blightersDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Spook (RIP) lost her tail at about 2-3 years old in similar circumstances - she had been missing for almost a week and I was frantic with worry, got up in the night to get a drink of water and found her downstairs. She was in shock, but didn't appear to have any obvious wounds (no blood) but her tail was limp and lifeless.
We took her to the vet the next day, they pinched her tail and said there was no feeling in it so it would need to be taken off. We didn't have insurance at that time but as my then husband was on benefits, the RSPCA did the operation for us.
She lived a full and happy life until she died of an abdominal tumour last year.0 -
Tigger got shut in the front door when BIL was 12 or so (don't envy him having to tell his father that he'd chopped the cat's tail off - or show him the end because he didn't know whether he should put it in the bin or not)
Tigger lost a tail. Gained a surname.
Tigger No-Tail lived until he was knocking on 20.
Hope your cat has an uneventful time after this.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Wow thank you guys- I was convinced it was the end of the road for him, I'm so pleased without a tail he will still jump and be happy outdoors.
When we were on route to the vets he kept pawing at me and looking with those big cat eyes so I was in floods by the time I'd got there (I walked the mile or so to beat the traffic) convinced he'd be an unhappy cat forever. You've all cheered me up so much!
I'm loving spookshe looks none the worse for her tail-loss!
On a good note boots has eaten nearly half a pouch since he returned last night- 1.5 pouches less than normal but still he's eaten! He hasn't moved from under the bed but if I stretch my arms under to stroke him then he will let me (albeit with a growl).
Damned cats- we get so attached! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

Charlie was a cheeky happy cat all his life and he coped wonderfully well with no tail.

Thanks - she was such a character and I still miss her a lot.
When she came back from the vets after having the operation, she looked a sorry sight as they had to shave off quite a lot of hair and the stump had stitches in it and looked ugly, but once the stitches were out and the hair grew back it was fine. I'm not sure if she ever missed not having a tail although sometimes the stump would twitch if she was angry!0
