Sounds like a pretty good vet you've got if he's been prepared to use his judgement and wait and see on some things rather than rushing in all guns blazing since you had insurance - lots would have milked it for every penny they could to be honest. I think with things like tails they do have to wait and see how it heals to get an idea of any possible nerve damage.

Just means he's down to 8 lives remaining! Suki the tripod appears to be determined to conserve her remaining 8 lives by doing as little as possible in the way of physical exertion - she's now got me suckered into carrying her downstairs in splendour in the morning (well apart from those days she gets put into the washing basket on top of a pile of laundry and brought down that way - she doesn't like that and disembarks huffily at the foot of the stairs)!

yes! I know :) they've all been great at the practice... they're leaving him for 5 more days and then from there they will decide whether it's like to get any better. He's not made any improvement on movement since WEdnesday so I am getting a bit sad for him that he might lose it. Although your stories have all made me quite chirpy that he won't lead a bad life if the worst comes to the worst!

  • Sadly there's no update today - his tail almost looks worse as it's healing over into one long tail length scab.

I've been chasing him round the house and putting fleece/towels/paper/plastic bags on surfaces as where ever he sits ends up blood and puss stained  obviously nothing I can do to stop the leaking but I can't have stains on another duvet set- last nights stains don't seem to have soaked out yet!

  • Evening all, I thought I'd give yet another update...

He's still got the tail...although it's because he's got an 80/20 chance of losing it so they've not given up hope. However he can now move the tail into the air and he can wiggle the end which is great. The problem is whether there is new skin growing under the full thickness wound (I think that's the description). Therefore if on Friday 19th there's no sign of new skin he will lose the tail :(

on a good note, he's been in a much better mood and is lovely and loving at the moment- even if we do keep stopping his bids for freedom!
