  • Can someone please explain to me what financial hardship means when writing to the bank? I have already sent the first bank letter and received no reply so have completed the second letter ready to send.

The sticky thread called financial hardship online resources explains all about it.

  • Can anyone please help me. I sent a letter to Halifax asking for the £724 in charges over the past 6 years be given back to me. I used the letters from here and changed the details as required. I went for the legal terms in the letter. I just got a 3 page reply back from halifax stating that because the courts are now ruling in their favour after Dec 09 they will not repay any of the charges that were taken off me. They had a reply for every line in that letter to them. They now say that they would be more than happy for me to take them to court.........Help......

If you have taken the legal route then the OFT vs. the banks case works strongly against you. As Premier will no doubt mention soon, no one has won in court on bank charges since November last year. The fact the OFT could have still assessed the charges and haven't bothered is irrelevant to the argument. Unless you are suffering financial hardship then I am afraid you may as well give up currently.

I thought as much. I should have got around to this well before now but didnt now anything about it until I seen something on TV that martin was talking about. Thank you anyway.
  • Hello,
Im about to try and reclaim bank charges from the halifax, using martin letter. i know i know i should have done it sooner!! But after gettin into alot of debt i've finally manged to get my head around it all and am mentally ready to sort it out!!
I was (am) in financial hardship but after reading a few of the forms i'm worried that the halifax seem the worst for paying out and am now wondering if it's far to late and worth the time and stress for trying to get anything back!??!?!?!??
Any help on what i should do or even if i should bother :(
    Thanks

If you feel you have a claim under financial hardship then is worth trying. What have you got to lose?

I have rang my bank to ask for a form to claim a hardship case, they wont sent me the form, has anyone had this problem? Or am I getting it all wrong, should I be going to the Ombudsman?
