On what basis did you complain and on what basis are they refunding?0 -

I just explained in my letter that during that period I was in extreme financial hardship, he asked me if I feel that the bank contributed to my poor finances, to which I replied yes of course.
What I gathered from what he said to me was they were refunding the charges as they directly contributed to my hardship.
One thing I will point out is that the account was not used from September until it was closed in May so he refunded all fees accrued since the last time I made a payment out of the account.
All in all fantastic customer service and yes sent the letter last Friday and they called me about noon on the Monday so was very quick.0 -
Thank you for your replies. I think I will just send the letter anyway and put copies of the credit card statements in a evidence.
There is no harm in asking. I will let you know if there is an outcome.0 -

What do the charges relate to? The property? If so, perhaps you could ask your Spanish legal advisor you uused to purchase the property if you think there are any grounds whatsoever0 -
Having read a lot of posts on here, I recently tried to obtain a list of transactions for an account I had with Natwest some years ago. Despite being able to quote a sort code and account number, they claim to know nothing about it. Is there a point at which a bank deletes this data ? The account is closed now. The moment we broke out of our debt spiral we moved to First Direct.0

How come this is not in the media? There have been no known cases since the banks won the court case. This is big news. Yet we see nothing.
Or it perhaps that it is not unfair bank charges that the refund is about but a goodwill gesture for financial hardship/acknowledgement that a part refund would help your current debt situation?
No its not. Until a court says it is, it is not. Anyone using the unfair/excessive bank charges method would normally expect to get an auto-rejection stating the the fact the banks won the court case. Even the FOS wont review complaints about unfair charges (just financial hardship cases or incorrect application).

Hello all
I have been experiencing some financial difficulties over the last 2/3 years after I lost my job. I then managed to find a new job but unfortunately the pay has not been regular, this has led to instances where I have been charged by the bank.
I have been thinking about trying to claim back some of these charges as I have been trying my very best to avoid anymore.
After reading a post on here, I am not sure if I would qualify as I do have a mobile and pay for internet as I need it for my job. I have also made purchases online every now and again, many times these are for my sister. She just gives me the cash and I pay from my account but the bank doesn't know that.
Would things like this affect my claim? I'm not after a huge amount but any little I could get would help me greatly.
I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time or if I should just give it a try?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -

Thank you for the reply.
It's not high speed broadband and the mobile contract is £8 month, this allows me to have the broadband for a little cheaper. These two components are what allows me to earn a small income as my work is web based.
The transactions for my sister are not frequent and usually under £50, many times she sends the stuff back.
I also make online charity donations for my mum, again she reimburses the amount. There's no way to prove that they on my mum's behalf though.
It's probably unlikely I'll be approved.
Appreciate your help and insight.
many thanks0
