We'll think of you whilst sipping out sangria's by the pool LOL

Seriously I don't think for a moment we'll get all charges back but I think even six months is better than nothing....although it's a crime that they wont reimburse all charges, bloody criminals....At least some criminals only steal from the rich. the banks steal mostly from the poor.....if Robin Hood were alive today!

I helped my friend with their complaint and could not believe my eyes, practically every month they were charged at least 5 times, some months it was over 10! I thought legally banks couldn't charge any more than say 3 times?!

At least I should get all my package account charges back, theiving buggars
  • Just a little inspritation my friend just got back £450 from unfair bank charges from Barclays!! He just left a voicemail! Total charges without tax claimed was £1700 from 2008 to now so they managed to get quarter back!

The only strange thing is i sent my complaint before him, like 5 days before, asking for less money/bank charges back and he heard first?!! At least I ahve a case for being treated unfairly if I don't get a quarter back!! LOL

Go get them guys! It can be done and that's money you are owed from unfair bank charges!

Sure charge people for going over their overdraft but changing them nearly £100 a month is unfair, surely the fact they are incurring these charges tells you maybe they needed help as oppose to making their situation worse!

I am not passing comment on your individual claim, I wouldn't want to pre-judge any outcome but for the sake of your best possible chance, please get it out of your mind that the banks are "criminal", "thieves" or that charges are "unfair" - the 2009 court case made it clear that the charges were legal and fair. If you complain to the bank their charges were "unfair" you'll just get a rejection

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I think I was more diplomatic in my letter I sent :)

How come this is not in the media? There have been no known cases since the banks won the court case. This is big news. Yet we see nothing.

Or it perhaps that it is not unfair bank charges that the refund is about but a goodwill gesture for financial hardship/acknowledgement that a part refund would help your current debt situation?

No its not. Until a court says it is, it is not. Anyone using the unfair/excessive bank charges method would normally expect to get an auto-rejection stating the the fact the banks won the court case. Even the FOS wont review complaints about unfair charges (just financial hardship cases or incorrect application).

As I stated before, this is not my complaint which is pending, it is my friends that I helped compile the charges and letter for as well as min...

As soon as I hear about mine I will post on here whether it's good or bad news.

Good will gesture/part refund, it's still money back, that had he not complained about he wouldn't have got.

I'm sorry but charging over £100 in charges in one month alone is too much....Whether the court thinks so is another story but then I guess £100 to them with their wages doesn't really matter but to the adverage Jo it's alot of money.

The reason is very important. It can mean the difference between payout and no payout.

Where is your supporting case evidence for that?

The law and the regulator make the decisions. so, its not another story.

Really? The average bank clerk is paid under the national average wage.

I beg to differ, whilst Bank Clerk jobs can start off at £16000 a year, with experiance can go up to £23,000.....Besides I was talking about the law makers ie lawyers, judges etc, I think you'll find they get a bloody good wage not the admin or cleaning staff!

The evidence is the statements I went through for my friend.....12 charges of £8 he had one month which is £98!

Had my friend come on this forum he wouldn't ahve bothered, I was in two minds myself but we can get some money back and I wish certain posters would stop with their own personal tradegy of not getting any charges back to frighten other people off too with their bitter tales.....different banks ahve different ways of dealing with complaints....Fine share you're own story but please remember your experiance will not be universal.
