You know when I went for help to a charity when I was in debt, they advised me that you are still allowed to have a life, whilst owing money. So you are allowed to smoke, go on holidays etc. These banks will just have to pay for the damage they did, and are still doing it.

Why do you think the bank has caused your issues ?

You can still have a life whist owing money, but common sense says that if you can't afford to smoke or go on holiday then you don't. You don't do it regardless because a debt charity says you can !

FYI, I don't smoke or go on holiday, or go out for meals for the last 10 years.
  • Sorry it it's already been mentioned but I had a platinum account with Lloyd's for my phone insurance! I had a brand new iPhone on that day and they took it's details!! A week or so later, that phone had a fault and I returned it to apple store and just got it exchged!! I wasn't told I'd need to register this phone so when it broke, almost a year later, I couldn't claim cos it wasn't technically the same phone!!! Can I claim anything??!

    Hello,

Does anyone know if a request for a refund (financial hardship) can be made on a self employed business account?

If so, are the guidelines, letter templates etc the same as in this thread moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges (cannot put the full thread link in - ie the http bit at the front as I am a newbie poster)

  • Hi
I currently bank with santander and have recebntly occured charges of £150 for an unarranged over draft fee of £5 per day. This has never happpend to me before and i frequently use my account for my wages to get paid in to. I dont have an overdraft for the reason that i dont want to be in debt to the bank so i am very disapointed this has happend. I am only 21 and living at home with my mother so money is very tight. Is there anything i can do??

Any help would be appreciated! :(:(

    Hi
I asked the bank to reconsider the interest and charges applied to our account over the last 6 years as I am now in DMP. Anyway, they have now made a sympathetic goodwill gesture, the chap kept saying they were offering a third, but that's a third of the interest. It equates to about 15% of all charges including paid referral fees and other charges etc

I just wondered whether I should accept it and run (as I know they are not obliged to give me anything ) or should I complain to FOS?

    Any thoughts?

I had the same problem and they offer a one time thing where they won't charge you. Ring them and ask.

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on my original post above. Also, if it is possible to claim, how far back can you go?
