  • I was referred because I found a lump and thankfully was told it was ok. I told the consultant I had very painful breasts and she told me to take Eveing primrose oil as it helps with the pain.
But didn't think to ask whether I just keep taking it or stop and start with the pain. Which is the better way?

Good question, I'm going to stick with it for now, just enjoying being pain free, I might lower the dose when I've finished this batch of tablets and see what happens but not even sure I'll do that, I don't ever want to go back there again.

  • Hi,

I was diagnosed with hormnal breast lumps when I was 26. It was very scary as my left breast swelled up to twice it's normal size! And of course all sort of things ran through my head. PLus it didn't help that the GP went "well what if it's cancer!"

Luckily after attending a breast clinic, I was diagnosed with HBL and advised to take Evening Primrose Oil and Starflower Oil and yes they do help.

For a while I was taking two forms of pill to control the hormones. It helped but I could never remember what one to take when!

Thanks for this thread and it's nice to know it's not uncommon.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've stopped it now. Mainly because I have to take a real cocktail and as mine seems to be linked to certain totm I'm going to only take it then to reduce what I have to take normally.

Well, the epo is working a treat, no soreness at all but.......my skin is wrecked:eek:I have started getting those blind painfull red lumps that I just cant do anything with, after years of bad skin and just a couple of years of good skin I can't face going backwards, apart from the spots though my skin is in lovely condition - typical. I have cut the dose to every other day and I can feel the soreness returning, not as much as originally but its still there, I'm really stuck now so any advice would be very welcome:)

Someone was telling me about some sort of machine for spots they saw on QvC. I'm trawling through now, but am not the best at hunting things down.
I wonder if it really works? I'm tmpted to try, but my skin's clear again now (I went to plain caster oil on the trouble zones for a couple of days, no dilution). Its ridiculous to have worse skin now than when younger.

edit: here it is glowgirl, wht do you think?

I would check with my gp - not that I have a gp, but that might make me sign up.

lir, I saw that on QVC, I was watching the thing about hair extensions before it and left the telly on, it looked like a kind of home version of Intensive Light Therapy, I thought it looked good and that if I still had spots I would give it a try, spoke too soon I guess, if only they had such things when I was really in trouble with spots and a stressed out teen:(I think I am going to visit my GP (thanks MissMoneypenny) it wasn't him who said put up with the pain it was the consultant at the hospital and my GP has been excellent for other diagnosis and treatment, it seems to be the order of the day to annoy me, just found out my fav shampoo and conditioner is to be discontinued:mad:and now this problem with the epo that worked so well on the original problem:( I wonder has anyone had any success with other supplements? I think towards the start of this thread there is a mention of Starflower oil, anyone got any comments? I will look back properly when I have time as I'm on my way out - thanks girls:)

I used Starflower oil - I found the Evening Primrose Capsules "repeated" on me! Starflower ones were a smaller volume and didn't have this nasty side effect. They worked just as well and were a great deal easier to swallow.

I kept going for a couple of months and then everything seemed to settle down and I haven't needed to take them for years. I still have lumpy breasts though but that is "normal" for me.
