Breasts

I have recently had very sore breasts, much more so than normal around period time etc, to be safe I went to my GP to have a chat about this, he gave me a thorough breast examination and to my horror found two lumps in my right breast. I have a lot of trust in my GP and felt slightly better when he said he was 99% sure they were fatty lumps, nothing sinister but he was going to refer me to the breast clinic for a second opinion. I received an appointment after 3 days and saw a specialist who confirmed what my GP had said, my breast have hormone related lumps, nothing to worry about:Tbecuase of my age (41) the consultant has requested a scan for which I will receive an appointment in the next 12 weeks.

The consultant had a long chat with me about self examination and made it quite clear that early diagnosis can save lives,I waited about 6 weeks before going to my GP and the consultant was not impressed, I wanted to post this so that women (and men) get in the habit of examining themselves regularly, I've included a link below if you don't know what to do, it can be scary to face up to these things but you could also save your own life and save your loved ones so much pain, please please do this regularly:)

  • Always good to have a reminder :) thanks

Can I suggest oil of evening primrose for the pain if you haven't had anything for it yet - really helped me when I had the same thing!

I've used both Evening Primrose and Starflower oil for this It helped a lot with the pain and as a side effect my skin was a lot less dry than normal :j .

I just took the dose recommended on the pack. The evening primrose capsules are pretty big though which is why I switched to Starflower.

Absolutely ridiculous advice. It was my female GP who advised the OEP, I just took the dose it told you on the box although I think she might have said to take an extra one for the first week or so. I had a quick google there and the latest evidence seems to be that it doesn't have any effect but it helped me :)

I would suggest seeing if you can find a sympathetic GP in your practice in any case.

I second the evening primrose oil.
I've had painful breasts since they first appeared on my chest but they got worse after I had my first baby,I'm 55 now..
I've taken 6 capsules a day, every day since 1978 with no problems, they do have the added bonus of making your skin look amazing too.
Everytime I try stopping them the soreness comes back so I intend to just keep taking them.

I need something to make my skin look amazing, might give this a go again :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
re examination, fwiw I have fund lumps on partners that they haven't themselves (all of them turned out to be harmless) and its not a bad way to double check, reciprocally with an OH. :) Its no substitute fo knowing your breasts (or your partner their bits) yourself, but its a good prompt.
