Did you have hormone levels etc tested? I don't know a lot about these things but I know the weight gain can be associated with PCOS. But in any case this isn't normal and there's something going on with your body that you need to get some answers to!
Getting my GP to do anything other then say "its normal" is like drawing blood from a stone (including when I had a BMI of 14 and was asking to be referred to a hospital for anorexia. but thats another story!)
I did though end up in A&E with period pains in november, they then sent info to my GP (it was my GP who had told me to go to A&E as they could not see me, too busy for the whole day) and I did get a referal to a gyno who is asking me to keep a diary for the next few months. Would rather it was not 3 months to wait but better then nothing. I'd love to get this resolved- they did a scan already, nothing showed up, no cysts or similar so not sure its PCOS or endometreosis as I think they show up on scans. They didn;t check my hormone levels though so I will make sure to ask about that, thanks.
Just so odd that it came on quite quickly, I used to have very light mild periods with zero pain, its now turned 100% on its head! V.odd!0 -
jennie, I think you need a new GP also I don't know how old you are but I'm thinking menopause related (earlier menopause runs in families) agian I'm no expert just a thought - best of luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Lol- am 28- am hoping its not the menopause- I only got my periods back 2 years ago after major anorexia and bulima for years (I did have periods before that and they weren't this bad) my mum's only fairly recently started the menopause and she's 50, my grandmother was a similar age. On my dads side I think his mother was normal too though died of stomach cancer too early to ask.
All the doctors in the surgery are the same- all the different ones Ive been to. One said that spotting inbetween periods was normal, another was not sure treatment for my sevear anorexia was needed and there have been other ....comments from all the others I've seen. There was a locum who was helpful but was ony there once. I think they're all the same tbh, my mum moved home and moved GPs, said she now knows what a good GP service is- does worry me but getting an NHS GP where I live is harder then getting an NHS dentist (yes really!) at least they all signed up to the oath of "do no harm", they don't seek out to hurt me, they are just ignorant or problems that stray from the norm of cough cold and childhood diseases.
But thanks for the advice;)0 -
I know what you mean about Locums jenniewb, sometimes they offer a whole new perspective on things. Yay for locums!2016: No Clutter to Be Seen 805/2016

Thats just it though- its not normal for me- in the past year I started going to the gym much more, I increased my water intake (from the tap) from nearly 500mls to between 1.5-2L a gym session. (I used to find water made me gag and so I had to make myself drink more water as I was not drinking enough, now I am over the gag thing its OK to drink whilst workoing out.)
It's in this past year I have now ballooned to being much bigger then I ever have been, I'm too scared to get on a set of scales now, my periods have suddenly aquired the worst pains I have ever had and the last 3 months to the point of being in A&E with them -as sent by my GP, I seem to have sore breasts right after ovulation time and straight on till I start my period- somethings not right, this never used to happen before. It just seems odd that nothing else in my diet has really changed aside from the water (I used to have anorexia and although my weight is sky high now, I am still VERY ridgid with what I eat and eat the exact same things every day.)
Just strikes me as odd. I almost want to cut out all liquid but I know thats not a plausable thing to do!
I am a qualified personal trainer ... Why are you drinking quite so much water in a gym session? How long, how frequent and how intense are your gym sessions? You should be drinking two litres of water a day, plus half to one litre per gym session. You may well be upsetting your electrolyte balance, perhaps too little magnesium which is responsible for muscle relaxation.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I drink that much because I get so thirsty- I dislike water but given the choice of water or nothing (and I'm not about to bring diet sodas into the equation!!) I drink water.
I think its because the gyms are so very air conditioned and I also seem to have a random sinus issue where I can't breathe through my nose properly so end up breathing through my mouth the whole time. I think that adds to water loss (through water vapor) and hence I drink more.
Also I workout for upto 2 hours (1.5 to 1 hour 45 mins cardio and then the rest stretching, once or twice a week I'll add weights to that) this is 5 days a week, occassionally 6. I know its an obsession, (not an addiction, it doesn't make me high, it just feeds into an already obsessive mind!) it has been worse and I am trying to cut down, but its hard as I am not really sure on plans and I tend to self doubt alot and make decisions then think that maybe they are wrong or the easy way out. As my weight is on the upper side of normal, the times I did mention it to my GP when I had what I had been told was shinsplints my GP didn't believe me basicly or don't seem to take it seriously. So I have no idea who else to ask for a route on cutting down without piling on loads of weight.
My heart rate is around 150 to around 180bpm (I wear a heart rate monitor) for the first hour, the second 30 or 45 mins being a slower heart rate as I get a bit more tierd. At the end I get an average of somewhere around 75 to 80% and a high of anything from 90 to 95%. I use all the machines I can (sometimes the queues are too long)
Its not too bad through, its 8-9 hours a week total cardio (without stretching or weights) when it used to be 12.5 hours a week.
I heard that your supposed to drink 500mls of water every hour you workout which I seem to do (and then more) without thinking- is this not right?0 -
Hi just a bump because its important but also a thanks for belfastgirl23 who suggested evening primrose oil. I got the pain and 'nipples' again on Sunday and managed to get some and both took it and massaged it in from a popped capsule....(it was valentines day!) I've taken it since then and the pain is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. I'm going to tell the doctor it has recurred, but it does seem to be hormone linked, and I'm so grateful for this relief: I'm surprised how marked the reduction in pain and discomfort has been.0

Another vote for evening primrose oil here. I was told to take this by my consultant to stop more lumps/pain in the breast and it has been fantastic. At first I thought it was alll mumbo jumbo, but when I stopped taking it, back came the pain and it was my gp who reminded me that I should be taking it.
The OR nurse also told me (while I was on the trolly waiting to go into the OR) that studies have shown that too much caffine can cause lumps too. I have reduced my intake of chocolate and coffee (use to drink loads).
Another site said that the underwires in bras can also cause problems too so I have tried and avoid these too.
20 years since I started taking EPO and no more pain or lumps so far.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Thanks for bumping, lir, so glad your pain is less:Tand yes, a huge thanks to belfastgirl23, I have been taking the epo everyday at first I took 2 a day and then as the pain lessened I took less and I am pleased to report that the pain has now totally gone:beer:I can't tell you the difference it has made to how I feel. The lumps are still there but I now accept these as normal for me, my skin is glowing and plumper looking so good news all round, now anyone got any ideas how to keep my big mouth in check:rotfl:oh dear I'm having one of those days...............;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
