I wonder if any of you who have been on the high dose of evening primrose oil has had any stomach problems, today I have had aches, some sharp and some dull and bloating (I look 3 months gone:eek:) also my appetite has totally gone, some of you may know I am dieting atm but I really had to force myself to eat today, not like me at all;)not sure if there is a conection or I'm just having an off day, I am really fed up with all these niggly bits and pieces:(on the upside, although still very sore my breasts fell slightly less tender than in quite some time :Tso I really want to carry on with the oil, any advice as always is welcome:)
(sorry glow girl, I realise this isn't anything like as dreadful as a lump, and my doctor was totally unconcerned, so I know its not a medical issue, just a painful one!)

lir, don't be silly hun, I'm so glad we all help each other;)

OK, further to my previous post, something my doctor knows about but isn't overly worried by, is that I had really, really sore nipples recently (perhaps coinciding with the cold spell? I do spend a lot of time out doors in the cold.) They were painfully ''erect'' and sore...the mos effective thing I could do was to have warm baths....is it possible that evening primrose oil would help with that if it recurs? (sorry glow girl, I realise this isn't anything like as dreadful as a lump, and my doctor was totally unconcerned, so I know its not a medical issue, just a painful one!)
No idea, but I would have recommended Possum Fur Nipple Warmers, and now you're going to think I've made that up, but I haven't, you used to be able to get them from NZ Nature.

How funny! I'd have tried them. FWIW I did try warmth. I was putting cotton wool pads on the heater/boiler and putting them over nipples before going out, and it would recur even after the warm bath in the warm enough house.

I never used to feel the cold much, or rather it didn't bother me...:o
  • In reference to the hormone thing... I mentioned to my doctor that I was switching over to soya milk. My GP said that it was probably a good idea as I suffer from PCOS and that milk is full of hormones that won't help to get my hormones regulated. I have also cut red meat out of my diet for the same reasons.

But soya is oestrogenic, so is this really a good idea for hormone regulation? I simply don't know.

not got my saved links, but google's first result was this, not read it so not sure how ''good'' it is. The endocrinologist I saw when first struggling with hormones (including PCOS) advised me to avoid soya as far as I reasonably could. :o Its all very confusing .http://www.gooddietgoodhealth.com/articles_soya_is_it_part_of_a_healthy_diet.htm

The hormone thing is a worry, they say there is hormones in the water, dairy produce and meat:eek:so lord knows how many additional hormones we have wondering about, I also read that young girls are starting their periods earlier because of the hormones in what we eat/drink:eek:Jennie, I was in London until 3 years ago and am now in Essex, it sounds to me like you have sore breasts around period and ovulation time, I know where your coming from hun, but if you know whats normal for your breasts you would be able to spot something unusual very soon so don't be worried because you can keep on top of things and remember a minimum of 80% of breast lumps are benign:)I guess the only way to stop the worry about the additional hormones is to go natural/grow your own which as we all know is easier said than done, thanks to everyone for keeping this post going, the more that see it the better:T

Thats just it though- its not normal for me- in the past year I started going to the gym much more, I increased my water intake (from the tap) from nearly 500mls to between 1.5-2L a gym session. (I used to find water made me gag and so I had to make myself drink more water as I was not drinking enough, now I am over the gag thing its OK to drink whilst workoing out.)

It's in this past year I have now ballooned to being much bigger then I ever have been, I'm too scared to get on a set of scales now, my periods have suddenly aquired the worst pains I have ever had and the last 3 months to the point of being in A&E with them -as sent by my GP, I seem to have sore breasts right after ovulation time and straight on till I start my period- somethings not right, this never used to happen before. It just seems odd that nothing else in my diet has really changed aside from the water (I used to have anorexia and although my weight is sky high now, I am still VERY ridgid with what I eat and eat the exact same things every day.)

Just strikes me as odd. I almost want to cut out all liquid but I know thats not a plausable thing to do!

Ah- so soya can play with hormones too? quorn is soya- is that right? (only ask as its one of the few things I do eat!! I just wonder about things playing with my hormones, especially those that may interfere with the female hormones that can cause pain!)

i think you really need to see a doc about this, i don't think this is to do with quality of water. And I think you need to keep asking till they do something about it. Did you have hormone levels etc tested? I don't know a lot about these things but I know the weight gain can be associated with PCOS. But in any case this isn't normal and there's something going on with your body that you need to get some answers to!

Hmmm, I'm no expert, I would certainly follow Belfastgirls advice and get an appointment and be insistent make sure hormone levels and blood sugar levels are checked, I'm so sorry hun I don't have anything better to suggest its obviously worrying you though so be brave and get yourself to the docs - let us know how you get on:)

No quorn is NOT soya - it is a combination of a type of mushroom protein and egg so if you want to avoid soya it won't be a problem.
