  • Good morning all,
I haven't been around for the last few weeks, kind of lapsed on the OS with one thing or another. Had a couple of things playing on my mind that got me down and made me lose sleep, so was in a rather unsociable place :( .
Good news is it's all been sorted now and i'm back with a vengeance. I really must condition myself to deal with things head on and not bury my head in the sand, i have caused myself needless worry for months
Hope you are all well, im off to catch up on what i've missed now (may be here a while)

It's Jamies Lamb in red wine hotpot for dinner tonight the kitchen is stinking of booze as i type :rotfl:

Hope you are all well and as ever hugs to all those in need x

    Morning all :)

Sore throat seems worse today :(

I made a bit of a worrying mistake - my credit card was changed the other day. This morning I went online to my bank and transferred £300, but I sent it to the old card :eek::eek: A very worrying call to the cc company [with sore throat] but they have said that it will go through to the new card. I'm really hoping so as it's to pay for DD's birthday surprise.

Luckily it's the same cc company and not a different one. My heart was in my mouth for quite a while, I can tell you.

I will be happier once I see the credit showing on my account, but it will take up to 48 hours.

Our day of activity yesterday means I haven't much energy today, so quite an easy day.

My friend made us some curry yesterday, so that will be for dinner tonight. She's going to make a batch of samosas, kebabs and rolls this week too. They are so nice and although I occassionally buy them from the supermarket, there's nothing like proper asian cooking.

On top of that, my dad's friend [a farmer] gave him some pheasants yesterday, so he's going to sort them out and bring one over tomorrow. No idea what I will do with it yet, but it will help with the grocery challenge as I wont have to spend so much :D

I won a DVD, which came today, so will watch that with the girls later, once they have finished their work.

Hope you all have a good day :)

AngUK, glad you went to see your OH. Keeping everything crossed for his recovery.

MSD, missing you. Hope you're ok :kisses3:

:rotfl::rotfl:at the joke bargainbird. Gave me a little chuckle :)

fingers crossed for your husband's recovery and glad you were able to see him.

Hester - good luck with the hearing problem.

Made turkey rasher and scrambled eggs for late breakfast for me and DH, who is still expecting the phone to ring at any moment and to have to go to visit a company even although he took early retirement on Friday ;)

He is happily pottering about sorting the broadband and moving a computer downstairs. We have decided to use this first week to enjoy the peace and quiet while Dds are out and not to even use the new car this week. I was going to go out later and see if I can build up walking distance and stamina gently but it has just started to pour with rain so won't bother.

Might use breadmaker and make a huge pizza for tea as we have not had that for a while. DH can have leftovers from yesterday if he does not fancy pizza.

Dd(16) got her new phone delivered yesterday and seems delighted with it. She was less delighted DH did not offer to drive her to school but I have agreed with him that he did not take early retirement to become her chauffeur - especially when the bus stops a few yards from our drive and she only misses it because she is fiddling with hair, make up, stuff she has forgotten. :wall:

Hug to everyone and see you later.:grouphug:

    Morning all, oops, afternoon now!

Glad that Franklin is safely home! Another wedding, whoopee I like them, have to make the most of other peoples as can't see me heading up the aisle again! Will have a look at bissell cleaners, thanks for advice about vax's being pants, have heard that a lot! And will try trading standards about the car if no joy - thankfully I get free legal advice through my union, so they have been helpful too.

Sorry above is a big higgledy piggledy! Brain isn't functioning well today, got the headache from hell! Probably due to stress and guilt - dd3 almost chopped the end of her finger off last night whilst I was at work, somehow she cut all the way around the top leaving a small bit attached at the centre! ds was a real star, cleaned it and grabbed some frozen sweetcorn and bandaged it. Dashed home from work and inspected it, was still pink and healthy looking and clotting and she said it had stopped being numb and was hurting, all good signs! I wanted to take her to get stitches, but she became hysterical, so decided to leave till this morning, and today it looks sore but has started to heal already so have put butterflies on and a clean bandage - the rejuvenating powers of an 8 year old! Anyway I felt guilty cos the kids all thanked me for coming home, like I might have even considered not doing so, must make sure they all realise that they are the most important things to me!

Anyway, was awake a lot in the night, as dd3 was in my bed, now frazzled! Need to get on with some stuff, at least cleaning the kitchen and cooking dinner! Rest can wait I think, will go and do something creative with mince later, as I grabbed some in M&S yesterday - there meat is a real bargain at the moment and a good alternative to the butcher.

Lunch for dd2 who is the only one at school today: ham sarnies, oat slice thing I invented, apple, clementine, cheese and a tiny pack of choc buttons (designed to make her feel better about being the only one going!)

Lunch for ds and dd1 who have colds and dd3 with her poorly finger is pretty much the same as above, with the addition of soup if they fancy it.

Lunch for me will be crackers, spicy lentil pate and cherry toms, cos that's what I fancy!

Dinner: something with mince, poss meatballs in gravy and served with chips and lots of veg (cabbage, carrots and green beans to use up)

Have a good day all xx

Busy morning. Went to Dr's - she thought she'd got a vein in the one arm and then by the time she'd put the needle in it had moved :o She finally managed to find one in the other arm. I never used to be difficult, certainly not when I gave blood at any rate.
Then did a mad dash round Sainsburys with kids in tow - DD bit whingy to say the least. Shopping all put away and kids fed.
I am torn between sittibg down and having a rest and starting the ironing. Didn't do it the other night so feel like I should crack on with it.

Did some yoga last night on the Wii - back felt better for it this morning so must keep it up.

BB - love the joke :T

Pipkin - hope sore throat is better soon. Have you tried putting lots of Vicks rub on it? Always works with mine.

Molly - hugs, you sound like you need them xx

mummysaver - OUCH to your DD and her finger

heavenleigh - hugs to you soo as you also sound like you need them xx

Cranky - good luck with the sleeping routine. Any tips for my DD - 5am this morning

Spoke to my dad about him sorting out replacement tyres for our car - he's not taking it into work tomorrow as there is a chance of snow  when I checked BBC this morning it was heavy rain grrrrrrrr I love the white stuff but even I am sick of winter now - come on Spring show yourself!

Its grey and damp here today but am pleased that I have got the doggies out for a nice walk this morning instead of leaving it till the afternoon. Roast chicken was yummy last night and theres plenty left over for chicken and pasta something tonight and more, even though I was naughty last night and picked at it .... well it was soooooo yummy ! Had a leaflet through from my bank yesterday about Christmas savings accounts , so am going to open one of those and transfer what I can when I can , I ahve never been one to save so am pleased to be getting this sorted. I was so sure I posted yesterday evening...Can't find it now.

Stressy day yesterday bra shopping with dd, but found some in the end. I settled down to work on the sewing order I have after we had eaten and cleared away. OK for a bit, but then managed to put the sewing machine needle through my finger. I just put a wound closure thing on it, as it has sort of split down the side of the soft tissue. Today it feels rather sore and looks bruised. I'm struggling to sew, but need to get on with this paying job.

After I had taken dd to the station to go back to Uni I went and collected ds from school as he's full of cold and exhausted. He isn't missing lessons this afternoon. We had leftovers for lunch, he some lasagne and me an extra jacket potato I made last night, hm coleslaw from last night and some other salady bits (and the last of the beans from last night). Will have to find something to go with the remaining new potatoes in the fridge.

I got a new toy on Friday, a Magimix food processor. So far I've grated parmesan, made bread crumbs, made coleslaw and grated cheese. Seems very good. I think I shall buy the julienne/chipper disc though, as that was something I used a lot on my old FP.
