Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 2nd Feb .It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning peeps

cold outside and its rained overnight too, its not actually freezing though as it has been the last couple of mornings. I`ve not seen the weather forecast for today yet so i shall have a peek shortly.

I woke on the sofa this morning :o but i have woken nice and early so i should get lots of things done, the dishwasher and washing machine are both on and the breadmaker has just finished, when it cools i shall put it back on with a fruit loaf in it as we really liked the last one.

Today i have two more demijohns of wine to bottle, i thought that there were only 4 to do but i had forgotton that there were also two more upstairs :D its very time concuming so i think thats why i`ve put it off for so long, i have an ironing mountain and i`ve also still got part of the living room to clean. That little lot should keep me busy in between all the normal stuff and houndie walking.

Bitsy - Glad that Franklin is home

Anguk - ((((HUGS)))) it was good that visiting made you feel better, fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Aplaceinthesun - I went to pundland and managed to get about half the items that were on my list, the store was still being rearranged to make more room for the new garden display so i shall pop back when its finished - very pleased with the bits that i did get :D

Mummysaver - We have a bissel carpet shampooer, its fab! It does have quirk where everynow and again the water won`t go through the tube but is ok after a few minutes. It does a good job and i like how it dries out the carpet so much that its bone dry in a few hours. I wouldn`t be without it and its around 8 years old now.

Right i`d better make a move and get started on the little jobs dotted around the place.

Catch up later guys, have a wonderful day.

    Morning.
I have one very tired little girl and yet she won't sleep. I hope that means she isn't going to be mardy all morning (like she was yesterday). Got the Doctors this morning for a blood test to see if I am anaemic, she's also checking my Thyroid so will be feeling like a pin cushion later as my viens aren't always that easy to find :o
Gammon to go on in a mo in the SC. Its a massive piece so I shall cook it for quite a long time so won't be having that for tea. Will be having tuna for tea, sadly not a fresh steak.
Little bit more cleaning today and hopefully a rest this afternoon if I can swing DD's nap time right (although given she's been awake since 5 I am not holding my breath on her lasting til after nursery drop off :()

Diva - hope you're doing OK xx

Lowesy - hugs to you and your H xx

Jinky67 - I see its your Birthday today :bdaycake: I know you don't post on the thread very often but since the Flyladies were encouraged over here I thought you might like a cake anyway ;)

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

    Edited to add:
AngUK - just read your update on yesterdays thread. Am glad you went to see your DH. I am thinking you and your family and crossing everything I have that your H makes a speedy recovery xx

Had a good birthday yesterday. Managed to buy a whole fillet steak of beef for £9. The discount meat place was selling whole fillets off cheap. I bought 4 in the end. I will never see that price again!!!!:j I am going to make my first ever beef wellington sometime soon. Never could afford it before....
So chopped up one and grilled it on the BBQ in the garage. delicious. Nice bottle of Rioja and later 17 year old Port.

Well back to normal today, a bit older and fatter.

    Work to go to.... cheers

Thank you everyone for the happy birthdays.....

N9eav - glad you had a good day - bargain steak, enjoy.

(((hugs))) Anguk, Lowesy and anyone else who needs one.

Raining here at the moment but a lot milder thankfully.

Just about to wake up DD who is better now and back to school today.

Off this morning to the hospital for OH to have an exercise tolerance test. Will take a book and chill while he is in there. Takes 45 minutes each way so that will be a large chunk of the day gone. Popping into the library on the way home.

No idea what is for dinner tonight, menu planning still hasnt happened yet :o ended up having a nice seafood salad last night.

Ordered my new laptop online (via Quidco) yesterday, was an expense I didn't need but very necessary. Need to try and get through to the taxman today to sort out installements for my tax - they were very busy yesterday!

Good news is house is clean and only a couple of items in the ironing pile:j

Hope you all have a good day.x

    Morning all,

Been raining all night here, but is a lot milder :T.

Today when I get back from the school run I WILL do my online shop, did not get round to it yesterday and we will need to eat next week at some point :D.

I was painting all day yesterday, still on the conservatory, can see the finishing post now, just one more top coat to apply to the woodwork today then the new lights to put up and then at least we have one nice room to sit in.

Dinner tonight will be left over pork curry and rice for OH and I and quorn curry for dd.

I also need to get the dog out for a run, will have to wait for a break in the rain.

OH fitted a new door lock yesterday to the front door, it is a very good safe door but the lock was broken so we could not lock it at night which worried me a bit, the new one cost us £100 , but it feels much safer and it makes a huge diference to the warmth.

Anguk, so glad you went to see your OH, still thinking of you all xx

    Have good days all x

Anguk - hugs and lots of love to you and your family

Dark and wet here this morning, but haven't ventured outside just yet. OH had an early start so he's been up and gone for a while.

Dinner last night was lovely but was a bit late even though I finished work half an hour earlier, as OH and the boys had haircuts and I decided to cook a roast as we didn't get time to do it on Sunday. Had roast loin of pork it was scrummy!! We have chicken tonight.

DS1 said he had a headache when I got in from work last night, so gave him pain relief and he went and laid on his bed, he did go to sleep and then said he felt better and did eat a good plate of roast and dessert! (Think he was actually just exhausted he's had several late nights and a couple of early mornings, he's fine this morning so off to school he will go!!)

Had hoped yesterday was not going to be a manic Monday but it was, not helped by the fact that one of my colleagues was off sick, hoping for a better day today!!

Didn't get to sit down last night until 9.45pm, but am trying to do a bit each evening so I don't have an overwhelming list of jobs to do on my days off, but after a day like yesterday it's difficult to keep going! Hopefully today won't be quite so full on.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

I feel like I need these today  as I have a stinking headache - I will admit to a vodka or three last night but not enough to warrant a head like this!

I was planning a mince/peppers/onions/mushrooms/fajita mix thingy in the slow cooker this morning but not really sure I can be bothered.... not very os of me I know :o

I have a spare 1/2 day holiday kicking about so might see if the boss will let me take it tomorrow afternoon. I have a couple of MS jobs I could do and it will let me get organised for my trip home.

Anguk glad you went and that your DH is still fighting to stay. please keep us updated x

Hope everyone has a good day  to Zippychick incase you're reading and not posting

    Hi Guys,
Sorry not to have posted for a few days but have been reading and contributing when I feel like i have something worthwhile.

I have been feeling quite low for a few days but have been helped by my kids dad who keeps encouraging me. It must be really hard for him. I had a pain management appointment yesterday and they have not given up yet in trying to manage my pain so i have a few things to try in the next couple of months including acupuncture. We shall see!

OS - we made a lovely chicken korma from scratch that was absolutely delicious and went down very well with kids.I had to buy a pestle and mortar but DS2 really enjoyed grinding the seeds! I made double the paste and plan to do vegetable korma this week as I much prefer that. Unfortunately my cleaner is not well this week so house is not looking its best but hey. I threatened my two eldest with the black bin bags last night which seems to have worked and they have sorted their rooms out after a fashion.

Anguk - glad your visit went as well as could be expected. I really hope he manages to respond to treatment

    Hope you all ok today,
    Mollyx
