I've enjoyed the latest posts but as it's after 1 am eyes are too fuzzy to write properly, will catch up tomorrow.

    I think you'd manage the £1000 a month challenge easily NG :)

Spent more than £5 on food today - I bought eggs, pineapple juice, carrots and milk

Eggs worked out at 18p each, they were the cheapest free range. Organic carrots which I like, pineapple juice, sorry but I really like the best - and milk as I had a visitor coming. Total cost £5.39.

What is worrying me now is that I have a problem with my laptop power lead - must be a loose connection as if I fiddle with it, then it's ok but doesn't stay that way. Will cost a lot for a new one - not sure if it can be fixed. I have also looked at the cost of more printer ink (not quite needed yet), but the cost has gone up an awful lot more than when I last bought it.

I'm hoping I can charge the battery up overnight and just use this laptop on battery for the rest of the evening as I am getting fed up of trying to get it to stay on power

I'd try eBay for a new unbranded one. I recently bought a £40 laptop charger from Maplin, only to go home and find a charger on eBay for about £7.

Thanks Archer - didn't think of that. Will take a look

  • Chargers - I've had a couple from ebay and they didn't last very long. Then I bought one from a local computer shop (a proper, branded charger) and it was triple the price but lasted so much longer. Perhaps I just had bad luck, though. I hope you get it sorted anyway, Frog.

About wanting the best, well, if you budget for it then why not?! I think it's different if you've a ton of debt and are buying your weekly food shopping at M&S, but you seem pretty frugal in other areas.

I have just sent off an application for an Internship (unpaid... well, they pay travel & lunch which comes to about £70/week... not bad really as I'd take a packed lunch and my travel would be £19/week) that I'd really like to do. Plus it's only 12-wks and would look good on my CV. I hope they get back to me, as it's been on the website for a week and they only have one other application. Surely I'm good enough for unpaid work?!

    Hi girls

Not long until February, the first time when I'll finally find out exactly what is going on financially because I have been faithfully been writing down every expense this month.

Unlike the rest of you for years I've hated clothes buying, and that is because I can never find anything I like, or fits!

I think in terms of finances this year, I really do have to write a list of what I need to buy for myself and what needs to be done in the house and tell myself there will be no more books until I start getting what is necessary.

Are you going to write down your end of month totals?
  • Hi Anglea,

To be honest, I am right off buying clothes. I went shopping yesterday and all I bought was a bottle of coke, and I paid for it with my Boots points... I felt thoroughly depressed, trudging around Primarni looking at all the stuff that fits 'normal'-sized people, but not me. So many of the things in fashion at the moment don't suit me, even though I'd love to be able to wear them. I was glad to get home - I don't think I was much fun to be with yesterday! :S

I will post my totals after the weekend.
A list sounds like a good idea... I actually need quite a few things, I just can't seem to find them. Very frustrating.
