Hi all
Another NSD.
CL I wonder if you added up all the 50p's last year how much it would come to?
Earlier on I just remembered yesterday's spends and went to put them in the book and suddenly come across some receipts I'd forgotten from weeks back (2 lots of photos developed). I have to admit I'm going to be a bit scared adding up the whole month's totals. I've never seen it in black and white like this before.
Whatever forms I've ever filled in the past only tended to ask questions in a general way, not detailed like this.
I'm going back to the library hopefuly tomorrow, that last audio book was dull beyond words.Only finished one cd can't face anymore. I've had a bad run of them lately either ridiculously violent (but nothing to prepare you in the review) or very boring.
CL - did you make that phone call about the placement?0 -
Ha CL - then I started to think £10 is half an hours driving tution - then I think... stuff it back to the refunds I go. Will we ever stop it I wonder?
Angela - do you prefer audio books to actual reading books?0 -

Hi CL
Here's a link to one of the trivets that I bought

I really am being sensible this month - just need to keep it that way. I think we often buy things unrelated to actually needing them, the same as eating food for reasons other than hunger

That's a modern one Frogletina, I was picturing something completely different.
I'm getting confused with the posts, some of them seem to be apoearing like magic but they weren't there before. I wonder if we are all here at the same time?
NGlady I always have loads of printed books on the go but have audio books when I do other things at the same time e.g. jigsaws or financial things.
So you don't exchange vouchers unless they are £10 do you mean?0 -

Yes it is, Anglea. I've a modern apartment, so I wanted something contemporary.
But I do have some old pieces of furniture I've inherited or bought because they are nice pieces and I think they work ok with the modern sofas and coffee tables which I pursuaded the last owner to leave behind.

Anglea... I'm too embarrassed to tell you what happened with the phonecall, but I did actually make the call.
NG... might be a silly question, but can you not curl your own hair? I do mine with my straighteners.
Frog, I definitely agree about buying things for other reasons. It's like binge-eating for other people... I binge-buy and then feel guilty. It's stupid, pointless & wasteful, but hard to stop.0 -
Hey CL
I wish I knew how to ! I keep trying to with my GHDS but my hair is soo thick and quite long I just find it really difficult to do it I managed to do two curls once, woohoo lol.

Hi all
I hope the word 'sensible' will be thought of today if your're shopping girls
One day NG when you time to experiment with hair, why don't you try getting some normal hairgrips, the brown thin closed together types, then when your hair is wet, wind a curl round your finger then clip it together to your head. Do all the way over. Wait until your hair is bone dry before unclipping. The result should look lovely when it's
combed out.
You might need experimenting to see which direction to curl, as one way looks better than another depending on the hair.
It is actually very easy to do, in fact the hardest part is usually opening the clips! You could always try a different type to the ones I struggle with.
Addiction - as you know my current one is books, but certain food can also set me off.
I haven't experimented with clothes in advance of next week, couldn't face it (got to go out Monday night, plus a funeral Tuesday) so I'll just look round the shops today in case I'm lucky.
My ibs has been playing up so I plan to buy lots of packs of crumpets and only eat them until I'm back after the funeral as it's a long journey.
Hopefully by Tuesday my black skirt will be looser. When I wore it in the summer for a funeral it was tight but I didn't realise it was a size smaller than I usually wear.
CL you don't have to be embarassed to tell us about the phone. I'm sure we all understand the horrors of phone calls.
Yesterday I got 2 audio books, one you might be interested in. It's called 'Eat that Frog' Brian Tracey all about procrastination. There was a quote by someone famous (could have been Mark Twain but I'm not sure) who said that if you eat that frog in the morning then you know nothing that happens later in the day can be any worse - so if you do your most important and hardest chore first thing in the morning everything else will be easy.
He gives lots of different types of techniques to overcome procrastination as well as change your whole life. What really made me laugh about this book is the write up at the back. I've had a very bad run on audio books lately where they turned out to be either exceptionally dull and I've returned them after 24 hrs or else exceptionally violent and perverse yet there is no advance warning.
So you can imagine my surprise to read the back saying this book contains bad language and explicit scenes!! I haven't quite finished it yet but so far a 5 year old could listen.0 -
Hi all,
I won't be going out shopping today. Well, maybe food shopping but will only buy if I see bargains that can be frozen.
NG about curling your hair - there are loads of videos on youtube, that's how I learnt. Took me a while as I'm not great with hair, but I can make mine look pretty good (and I have rubbish hair!)
I like the sound of 'Eat that Frog'. What a funny title! I'm a sucker for self-help books. I've bought a few, but only seem to get a few pages into them before giving up :S Not a big reader... so maybe audio books would be better for me.
I didn't know that crumpets were good for ibs... I guess you'd have to eat them without butter? I don't have IBS but dairy always gives me problems. Sorry if TMI!
I hope the funeral goes as well as possible, Anglea. I've only ever been to one funeral and I never want to go to anymore.0
