I know, I didnt know until the 10pm news, my dad shouted me downstairs and told me to watch the start of it, so scary I watched with my mouth wide open. Just its so odd, when your there it was so calm feeling - ill tell you something interesting about the president and the people of tunisia tomorrow, long winded :)

Today I spent £2.20 - treated myself to the chippie whilst walking part way home :) half day today

Did my driving lesson today - booked my theory yesterday -- ouch, thats £50 in one hit!!

Had a little bit of bad news yesterday about my mum - shes got to have an operation, in the long run itll benefit her so much, completely easier way of life really, but its one of those things, you never think anything will happen to MY mum, its always mums in magazines/friends of a friends mum - does that sound silly? I admit, through my tears last night, I had a very week moment and spent £26 on the fiorelli website, kind of had a "stuff it" moment, but, they dont happen AS much anymore, and i will find something to return to make the pennies up or something :)

Meeting up with friends tomorrow - so going to be spending quite a lot alas, even the basics, train plus food will add up to £30/£35 and no doubt itll be a treat or two from the selfridges foodcourt :) BUT I have drawn some money out for this week.. including tomorrow... and when thats gone, its gone, and itll be water only at work :)

Sorry to hear about your mum, it's always worrying when someone close goes to hospital. No wonder you were upset. About treating yourself - I'll let you off this time.

Must have been a shock for you to see the news. I wonder what story you will tell tomorrow about it. You even mentioned you might be saving up to go again this year.

I hope you have a good time with your friends, looking forward to reading your spends (I bet it will be a very long post :))
  • Hi Anglea, Frogletina, NG & anyone else lurking,

Not a lot to declare from me... just a few tiny spends totalling £7.97, all of which were necessities. Oh, and I ordered myself the lovely watch that I've been lusting after for over a year. It was £200 so I'd been saving up my vouchers from surveys to get it. I had £160 saved but checked this morn and it had been reduced to £100, so I was able to order it and have some vouchers left :j

NG: sorry to hear about your mum needing an operation. I hope it's nothing too serious. Ad of course, we forgive you for that little splurge. I don't know much about credit ratings, but do you know that yours is damaged? Just it should be ok if you've always managed the minimum payments. If it were me I wouldn't put anything else on a credit card unless I was 100% sure I wasn't going to overspend on it :S

I hope you enjoyed your day out. I look forward to your recap :)

Anglea: you and your book weakness! The waterfall diet sound interesting, I just looked it up and see it's about water retention (something I definitely have). My weight is always up and down - I can be 5lbs heavier at night then in the morning it miraculously disappears.

    Hi all

CL it's good that you saved up the money before buying, must be a special watch.

Yes I thought that book was interesting. Today I didn't look at any books apart from the library, I did think of going to look at some but felt a bit sick at the thought of it, seeing I looked every day this week and guessed there wouldn't be anything new on the shelves.

I spent about £5 today on library rental and lunch out - I got something smaller than normal because I had indigestion.

I've been very good, thinking about you and Froglatina with the meticulous budgeting and I've been trying to consider future finances for events I normally wouldn't have even considered e.g. what if there is a wedding in the family or legal funds needed, medical, transport etc
  • It's all the more special as I know I didn't pay for it :)
Does your library charge for renting books, or is that late return fees?

If I was more organised (or had more of a life - e.g a car, my own family, went on regular holidays, etc) then I'd have lots of 'pots' to save up for things. I know a lot of people here build up an emergency fund for unexpected circumstances. I guess when I'm working, it'll be easier for me to do that.

    Hi all

Just realised I haven't posted my spends up this week - pleased to report I have bought no food this week, and only spent £5.50 of my personal money.

Will need to buy some vegetables in the week or it will be just peas and the frozen sprouts I bought as an emergency for Christmas when I couldn't find fresh ones (managed to find some in the end) Also more milk. I make bread using my breadmaker. The freezer and cupboards are still quite full

Nglady, sorry to hear about your mum - but if it's to help in the long run then the sooner the better

CL - you have done well. I tried with surveys but most of the time I started them and then they said I didn't qualify, so I've given up

    Good eve all :)

Just a VERY quick note to say - WOOHOO girl did good today :)

    Total spends £32.70!!!!

This included a £10 birthday pressie for my nephew - necessity. £7.60 on dinner this could have been A LOT worse going by past events necessity - £9 train gone up :( - £4.60 on some medical ointment cream - necessity and £1 on some babywhipes as that I use as makeup removers, they work just as good and i think there better for ur skin and cheaper! Oh and £0.50p for a bottle of water.

Considering how I thought I would spend £30 on travel and food, i did fantastic.

Decided im returning a dress i brought from newlook last month, I do love it, but I think id rather buy a suit for work instead cos I still havnt worn said dress so dunno if I will :) My work wardrobe is sooo drab and getting a bit "passed it" but I hate buying work clothes! So need to improve this over hte next month, this seasons skirt length fashion is both a blessing and a curse, blessing as its perfect length for work requirements so easy to get them - normally its not - but also curse cos when ur a shortie like me they make u look even shorter!!

Anyway - ill reply better tomorrow :)

    Hi NGlady

Can you tell me what is this season's skirt length? I have to say that most of my skirts are minis which I seem to have worn since a teenager. I'm short and wear minis even in winter, but then with tights

    Hi Anglea

Just wanted to tell you I have dealt with one of the outstanding letters, well actually I sent an email, regarding my father's photos.

I didn't send it to the group, but the same person as before, as I found an email address for him, but I have also found a phone number for the group so that will be my next tactic if I haven't heard within a week

    Hey Frog :)

This season is the season of the midi - not quite a maxi but not quite a mini, its about a inch or so below your knee :)

I know what you mean, I tend to wear shortish tea dresses etc with leggings quite often as im too short to do the midi - I have one maxi dress though, but its ideal as in my office we have to wear knee and below, so perfect time to get some before im trailing round the shops trying to find one :D YAY

got some stuff together to return this morn - do love one of the items im returning but £34.99 - in new look, with a voucher ive got could give me £45 to spend, so thats 2 work skirts and a suit jacket, much more needed in lots of ways. Also got together 2 next returns at £15 - thats going to buy me 2 work shirts and £5 contribution towards a work sweater that costs £10 - and then ive got a £7 refund in dorothys, last week, there was a problem as there was a sticker on the label that shouldnt have been there, so going to a different store today, taking the sticker off so they honour full price :O so thats £16 towards a new work cardigan that I wear tons which costs £19.99 - so for very little with a few refunds that yes i do like but no i dont need I can have a work wardrobe thats very much needed :)

Oh forgot to add onto spends £7 - DEman was hungry when he picked me up from the station, bearing in mind he had got up early to fetch me to take me to the station aswell, saving £10 on train fairs, brought him a kebab and chips for tea :)
