    Hi all

CL I just found a condensed version of that book online - take a look

    http://home.earthlink.net/~denmartin/etf.html

Re crumpets, I like them with butter and jam as they are filling and smooth to go down as opposed to vegetables etc and don't have strange side effects like bread. In the past I would have been on bananas and custard so crumpets are better.

Only looking for bargains that can be frozen? I'll believe it when I see it :)

Thanks for the hair tip Anglea!! Id have never thought to do that, did u used to be an hair dresser?

Very sorry to her about the funeral :( but again... thanks for sharing the "piccle" (we call them piccles!! round here!!) secret I sometimes suffer from IBS and never really know what I can eat when I suffer, so shall deffinatly be bearing that one in mind :)

I always get really nervous about my IBS when im traveling long distance, especially in cars. The tubes was hellish one time!!

Re shopping - im not going out tonight now! So only shopping ill be doing is perhaps returning something to newlook in a bit, so hopefully todays spends will be £1.50 on the bus. Cant afford to spend much today, payday next Fri and im going away for a long weekend, plus I have been looking at hols again today with the olds, we're looking at Bulgeria :)

    Hi all

Spends for this week - housekeeping £12.69, personal £2.70, present account 9.99, medical £1

The £1 was for some anti-histamines which I bought at Wilkinsons instead of using the prescription which I was given by the doctor which would have cost me £7.20! Always a good tip to see if you can buy the tablets cheaper over the counter

As for the Radio Times subscription, I'm going to charge myself £1.20 a week each time the magazine arrives. I do like to read it so I won't try and find a way to cancel it, though I have cancelled it for the renewal in 6 months.

The food is reducing but still plenty left. My houseguest moved out into a bedsit yesterday and I packed him up some food for his new place (you can see why he was reluctant to move out - lol) his contribution was only to food and not to the extra elec/gas/water that was used - but really I felt I needed my home back. I will miss him being around but as we are friends he'll be popping back in from time to time. He's only about 10 mins away.

    Hi all

Well it must have been fate I wrote the word 'sensible' earlier on because I've been anything but sensible

Because I didn't feel like any lunch at home I went out then feeling hungry as soon as I hit the shops. Only found one promising skirt but at the last moment realised to would be a horror to wash so put it back. For the first time ever, I didn't fancy any books - think it's because of the 'Eat the Frog' book because some of the ideas really seemed to speak to me and I was eager to get home and have a go at the excercises.

The crumpet diet has gone out the window. I went to Iceland they didn't have what I wanted and as soon as I spotted Doritos, that was it. So I ate 3/4 of a huge bag before I cooked my tea and ate it. Feel queasy to say the least now.

NGlady I wasn't a hairdresser but liked to help people I knew and they allowed me to try out by trimming their hair between hairdressing visits, styling it for them, or else doing their feet. One girl had exceptionally hard skin and had trouble walking so I used a special razor on it!

This was whilst we worked in a security job and it was done in the lunch break :)

Apart from using clips you can use material or even strips of paper, I used to do that to my hair. You have to experiment to see which method is easier to do.

Froglatina - that is an amazing saving on the pills. I wonder if it will feel strange without your guest.

    Hi Anglea

I expect I will find out, but he's already called round an hour ago as he had forgotten to take his shower gel - didn't stay long enough to pick up other things he had left.

It will seem strange but at least I will be able to relax and not think he's coming in at odd times. Turned up once in the early hours of the morning with no prior notice.

I did think about going out this evening, he's off to the same place with his girlfriend - but he disappeared saying he would see me there and I'd only said I might go. Then I decided it would be a hassle to get ready and I've stayed in. I went out last night and wished I hadn't gone, so I think a quiet evening here is the best choice

Regarding books, Anglea - I wanted to buy the new book in the shopaholic range - 'mini shopaholic', but it was 18.99 in Waterstones so not an option at the moment as I couldn't bear spending that much on a book (though I have done in the past)

Might get it secondhand one day or wait until it comes out in paperback, which is not until the summer

Frog - are you sure its not out in paperback? I am pretty sure I saw it in WH smith, why not have a look on amazon? :)

Anglea... thats another problem i've got. really bad skin under foot, so when I wear heels they hurt quite a lot under my feet balls, do you think thats to do with the skin?

I feel your going to be proud of me Anglea - I took somethings back to newlook today, should have been £48 (brought with intention of returning a couple of things,as wanted free PP) but the lady forgot to take my £10 saving voucher off, so I got £63 back. I didnt buy anything with my "new" money :O I know!!! total spends £4.70 including a snack drink and bus :)

Did spend £26 last night though :( me and deman had a bit of a row, and I am feeling pretty hormonal crampy and generally fed up, so we took ourselves for a lovely night out :) and you know, this morning I woke up and said to myself "I had a fab night out last night" just automatically said it without thinking, so worth every penny :)

i've joined the lulla clothes challange - I have set myself a £1000 (I know, I know!!) challange, but £90 a month compaired to what I have been spending is still an improvement :) and to be honest, an improvement is all im striveing for, im under no illusions ill never be a complete thriftbunny, but an improvement will do me very good :)

and I am implementing my own challange for me and deman are doing a £50 food out challange next month, I need to save money and be better, but got to remember I need my treats etc etc. £90 includes everything though, and if anything else needed its either tough doodars or I have to ebay something, no borrowing from the following months money, or ill be on Decembers by May lol.
  • Hi ladies,

You'll be pleased to hear that I didn't spend a thing today! Anglea, you made me LOL when you said about me only buying things that can be frozen... I pictured myself freezing boots, jumpers, etc etc. I know, I have a strange sense of humour :S

Anglea, I thought you were going to confess to a spending spree, not a binge on Doritos. I know those huge 'share' bags oh-so well... I used to regularly eat them with a full sour cream dip.

Frog - do you like living alone? I used to love it, but the novelty soon wore off for me. I'm not much of a people-person but I think I'd miss my mum a lot if I were to move out. Glad to hear your house guest has found himself somewhere though... hope you enjoy the peace & quiet.

NG - I might have a look for the clothes challenge and set myself a budget (not £100 as I know I'd never stick to it!).

Come on CL :) Join in!

cant believe ive sat in on a sat night and worked out an extremely sensible budget. I am trying the "lots of different pots" method to start with ... knew someday my half a million purses would come into use :)

On a slightly p*ssed off note just told deman about my challange and he basically said I wont manage it. want a bet mr hehe.

I have nada to buy tomorrow apart from 3 x work dinners as off for 2 days next week - so £6 ... dare say another £2/£3 will be spent at some point tomorrow as looking after my neice for a couple of hours :)

I asked in Waterstones and the sales assistant checked on the computer, hardback only came out in September. But cheers, there are cheaper ones on Amazon - I'll think about them

Well done with your budgeting - if you are anything like me, Deman has done you a favour challenging you

Frog - do you like living alone? I used to love it, but the novelty soon wore off for me.

CL - It has taken me a while to get used to it. I married really young (didn't last) and have since moved from one relationship to another without a real break

It really hit me when my last partner left me and for the first time I was on my own not by necessity or choice. Not sure where I go from here, not sure whether I can trust a man again but don't want to be alone either.
