  • Hello lovely ladies,

I have been absent for so long. My shopping has gone completely off the deep end. I can barely fit my new purchases in my many wardrobes. I didn't think I should have the nerve to come back. Then I read the last two pages and I know I am not alone. I see that everyone is having their struggles. So I wish everyone well and I will be a regular once again even if I just read and thank. I have an awful lot of catching up to do.

  • Am glad I have found this thread.
I am a shopaholic. I use shopping to make myself feel better and to cope with my grief. Having suffered 2 recent sudden bereavements I can see myself getting worse again. I got in the car, went to the shops and spent £300 in less than an hour. I feel physically sick when I walk away from something I want to buy, I get the shakes and I think about it non stop until I go back and buy it. I have 3 floor length wardrobes stuffed full and 2 chest of drawers yet I always have nothing to wear that I feel good in.

Am hoping to get help and ideas on here, or just to post every time I get the urge!
Am in two overdrafts to the tune of £4000 and something needs to be done before it gets worse.
Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000

    Hi all

Salesaddict :j :T lovely to see you back. So what did you start buying - was it those M & S sales again or something else. Do tell.

Hi PinkAP :) welcome to this thread. You lucky thing having all those wardrobes, I've only got a tiny one due to the way my house is made.

You can use this thread how you like, some people list all spending or else you can just write about your day, or what you are craving to buy and why.

We also talk about lots of other subjects - food especially crisps :), dating, excercise, family, holidays.

    Hi CL

Well done in losing that weight. How lovely to have all those boots, especially if it's difficult to normally buy them.

I'll let you off from posting now you're watching BB. This is the first time that I haven't watched it, normally I'm glued to the tv. I think it's because I've seen so many reality shows already this year and taken up so much time it was getting out of hand.

NGlady - have you seen Mr Derby again?

:wave: Hi all. just found this. kept seeing it and thinking it was not for me but i see that it is now. Shopping (which i mainly dream and think about since nothing fits my big bum anyhoo:o), food, exercise, all the things i love and all the things i love to hate:p
Introduction- i'm Ziggles, 30, live with parentals and can't leave til i stop messing about and spending money when i am broke! i have been really good for ages but i have had a HUGE 'binge' in the last 3 days as my dad asked me to buy some stuff for rellies abroad. And while i have been enjoying the delights of unfettered spending for kids and adults alike i have added just a few items for myself and have now bought a whole load of stuff that i can't sneak in so dad pays for them...god help me i'm a silly mare. i have just clicked the button on ssome stuff at evans too just becasue they have 20% off ending tomorrow.:o:mad::eek:
i am now pledging to return the shoes at the very least as i do not need those lovely strappy sandals with a sensible heel just because they are purple! I live in the highlands !!!!!! my toes will get frostbite!.

Hi folks, I've just picked up this thread - errr...yes...it was the Shopaholic title that caught my eye....not because I would class myself as a shopaholic (no, it's not denial, I like ..errr...love shopping, but would never put myself in great debts that I couldn't pay off for it) However, I have tried to curb my shopping and think about what I purchase. One thing that has really helped me is the NSD challenge (though I am now getting mad with myself when I have spendy days) but also really thinking about items I buy. I tend to purhchase more things online atm, and find that esp if I set myself NSD targets, I am determined not to break them..which means if I see something online, I have time to really consider if I need/like an item or not. It's still exciting thinking about it, but then quite often, I look back at an item and realise its more the expectation of making a purchase I am enjoying and actually, I don't really like/need what I was looking at quite as much as I thought.

One thing I did see on a programme (think it was actually Spendaholics) is where one girl was given a notebook to mark out of 10 how much she liked an item she saw and why. Then the next day, she would re-read the entry and decide if she really really did need/like the item as much as she thought she had previously.

Welcome to our new girlies on board :)

As Angela said, this thread was originally set up to try and curb the lovely salesadicts addition, however and sometimes a bit naughty of us it has kind of gone off track, and hopefully saleaddict doesn't mind too much.

We certainly do discuss lots of things on here - from exercise to my treck to find the man of my dreams! I tend to ramble on on here, and at times it may look like it isnt really doing me any good, but in fact it has. I see it this way, without this thread I used to spend all of my wages and I would be SKINTO for payday without any savings, because I would just buy buy buy and wouldn't really think about the future? but now I often save £500 per month. I work my money out on a per week basis so have a set amount of whats left for each week, this month I havnt really spent my set amounts so thats building up :)

I'm the same as you Kerri. I love shopping, we're women, who doesn't? but I wouldn't put myself into any huge unaffordable debts to do it. I am buying a net book next week, it is from the additions catalogue, but thats purely because it's cheaper and I am going to use the interest free option and pay it off in maximum of three months that it allows u :)

Well yesterday I brought two dresses - from... ASDA. and wow I loved them, proper felt quite pretty in them :D I was having buyers remorce when I got home. The onyl reason I brought them both was the queue to try on was huge and I didn't want to miss my bus! Ended up buying two size 16's two size 18s haha... allowing myself to keep the other one... because it gives me something to wear next time I go out which solves my rush around the shops lol. Did cost me £36 in total though :O worth it.

I am going to sort my autumn wardrobe out soon - went to buy a couple of sun tops too yesterday. (ready to get confused angela?!) I brought them because I wanted this booklet - u have to spend £25 to get the booklet so brought early. Girl didn't scan the booklet :D. so. One of the vouchers is £15 off when you spend £60 - I am returning £15 worth of the tops I got yesterday, and buying them back... free. I know, its still £45 but theres other stuff for my hol I need.. so perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Other voucher is £10 off jacket over £30 goodiegood, I need a new autumn jacket soon. £5 off £25 shoes... goodie need some autumn footwear for work!! and £10 off £40 spend, even more goodie. Best thing these last over almost two months, but you save a nice amount doing it this way :) (perves at a clutch shes seen)

Yep Mr D was seen :D we're now official.

I have hangover :( whats wrong with me in my old age, I never get hangovers normally?!!?!

ohh velicitygirl.. sorry to hear you are having problem... do come here and let us know how you are doing....

Another really boring week for me... no shops, no.. no even a car boot sale item !!... my mind is in "i dont want anything mood, till i lose weight" mode, which is good ?!

We are going to Majorca in October, and i have given myself an ultimatum that this is the last chance i have to get fit before "another" holiday being unhappy with the way i look.

Welcome to the newbies... feel free to post and tell us everything about you and addictions too.

Morning all, i'm hopefully off to the car boot next Sunday (weather permitting of course!) but not spending...selling....being tied to your stall is a great way to prevent you even being able to go and have a 'browse' and make some extra cash too :j Though having my front two alloys 'seen to' next week as I have kerbed one of them badly - which is going to set me back about £90 :( prob an expense I don't need, but then it is the same as two pairs of jeans or something and I figure that given my car is the most expensive thing I've ever bought, I should try and keep it half decent - esp if i was to sell it.
