Hi all
I'm not up on perfume so thought that Paco Rabane was only for men?
FE - it's often easier to get a job (and keep it) if the boss is a man.
NGlady what am I going to do with you??
I was out with my bag of cash at the festival at the village and bought myself a pint of cider £2 to drink watching Morris men, rather liked it in fact, then watched Maypole dancing and Appalachian clog dancing - which was done in tap dancing shoes. Had a cream tea for my lunch only £1.70. Also had another cake and coffee £1 later plus yet another pint of scrumpy £2 and a crepe £1.50. Art exhibition and craft fair - spent about £3.50. Then I thought it was a really good idea to walk to the shops (very long way from there) and went grocery shopping (debit card) and in the end I'd been out for over 6 hours. No doubt will be moaning about my feet tomorrow.0 -
Thanks all...
Today I've been a bad girl.
£5.76 on a 3-pack of large size Peroni beer
£1.75 on 3 chocolate mousses
£20 on 2 tops from New Look (cost £30 but I exchanged a pair of trousers I bought for work the day before I lost my job! so got £10)
£3.60 on a nasty burger, chips and drink for dinner
I also have £68 to pay to someone I owe money to; they bought me something I could't get myself; repaid £7 of my debt so far and the rest tonight; it was £75.
Tomorrow will be a NSD. Has to be. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost resisted tempation in Cath Kidston but will likely buy 1-2 cushions, maybe a towel or two and this cardigan because I want to spruce up my new home, have no cushions, only 4 cardigans of which only one is long sleeve AND have a 15% discount voucher...I'll get back to you on that when I review money...the TV is on a backburner for now as there's so much else to consider.0 -
However, I made £12.90 selling stuff to CEX and Cash Converters including a sh1te iron and a kettle; all things I don't need and which were taking up room.
I've also sold 3 books so that's less stuff to have to move to the next place and £6 income (before postage charges)....but every penny helps and I'm so glad to be getting rid of more stuff.0 -
NG: it sounds like you were quite restrained with your purchases, especially if you're going to return most of it anyway.
FE: I've never tried cash converters... do they buy literally anything? If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price did you get for each item? Do they have a price list that tells you what they'll give for each item? I have a dvd player but I'm not sure if they'd want it. I also have several bits of exercise equipment which I want rid of but not sure where to sell them... I really don't like the idea of advertising on Gumtree as I don't want weirdos or chancers coming to my house (which has happened before).
Anglea: Paco Rabanne do perfumes for women as well as aftershave for men.
Seems like you had a lovely day despite the walking. I like the sound of the place you live in - I wish I lived in a little village, we don't have festivals or anything traditional like that here.0 -
Hi all
FE -are you into crafts? Yesterday I saw some CKitson material that is free with a book or magazine (can't remember which) and there's instructions to make it into a bag. Hope you can manage the NSD tomorrow.
CL, thanks for the explanation about the perfume. Yes, the area I live is nice there's lots of olde-worlde parts as well as the usual influx of new that are swamping the place. It's one of those places that unless you need to go there, you never will as it's not on a through road anywhere and surrounded by countryside
Like you I've never been to a cash converters and I admit feeling quite envious reading about FE going there.
Sorry you've had some odd experiences from selling on Gumtree. I've never had any problems selling through classifieds, I can't remember if anyone came to the house from Gumtree (I did have adverts there) but I did have lots turning up from a paper called Trade it -they have an online site as well as published..0 -

CL, it is depressing how little they give. Have a £150 breadmaker (didn't pay for it BTW) and they offered me £20 so I kept it. Sold them a £60 NEW and unused kettle yesterday for £10....it's shocking. Like I sold a £439 guitar for £70 only used twice...abysmal to say the least but needs must.
Anglea, please tell me which mag; I don't really do them but could always do with free CKidston material; could sew patches onto stuff etc...so yes please!!0 -
Hi girls !!! i am back... i was coming back on tuesday but thanks to ryanair and their lovely crow.. i could not fly for an stupid stamp that they want and not even the Spanish authorities bother about !!!... so spent around £250 in hotel and new plane tickets... really annoyed with them and the way i was treated.
Anyway, i had a lovely time in Malaga.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Hi all
FE, sorry I've no idea about the free material as I was in a shop with racks full of crafts so didn't take any notice of the name. It might have been a book not a mag because I have a recollection of looking at three 3 Cath K books that were together.
I didn't realise about the prices in CC, I suppose it's the only way to bypass Ebay or classifieds without literally giving it away for free. Another alternative might be to try one of those shops that do house clearances and will take electrical things, books etc.0 -
Welcome back Morocha, that is crap regarding the authorities
But glad you still had a good time in Malaga
Ladies, I was flicking through my Look magazine. REALLY need to stop buying magazines again, think ive spent a fiver on them this week
and i've fallen in love with some Karen Millien shoes but they cost £150 :O So i've made due with making a picture of them my MSN picture lol. Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
That is pretty shocking... I guess they know that if people need the money, they will take pretty much any price offered. Is there a reason why you won't use ebay?Flickering_Ember wrote: »CL, it is depressing how little they give. Have a £150 breadmaker (didn't pay for it BTW) and they offered me £20 so I kept it. I have been screwed over a few times but I keep selling there because it's the only place to get a decent price for things. Have you ever tried selling on hotukdeals or any other forums?

sorry to hear that, but welcome back anyway - glad you had a lovely holiday
NG - that's the worst thing about magazines... they make you want loads of stuff that you can't afford. The only magazines I get are the £1 free trials that you can do online. Oh, and ASOS magazine which is free... I try not to read it though, because I know what I'm like for being tempted
:o
I got up at 1.15pm today (!! literally woke up then, didn't lie in). I have 9 items on ebay ending tonight... 3 have bids. This week has been a good week for moneymaking, I've made about £75. Today I'm going to do the clothes washing and list some dolls that I won a while ago... should make me £40-ish if they sell.0
