Hi all
NGlady - I think I might need some alcohol (got some nice Amaretto) to fully understand the shirts saga
It was most enlightening to read your account for the day. I like all the detail.
So now you've got a b/f. That's really nice for you. Hope that he carries on treating you nicely once you're officially a couple.
Do I like being a LOL you ask. I can't complain.:) When you've asked if any of us have had unusual jobs, well I did have some p/t a while back e.g. sales and debt collecting I didn't get paid for that one because it was my friend's business and he was losing a lot of money as his nerves got really bad doing this, so I took over for a while. Once he was better and wanted to pay me I left because I didn't really like doing that sort of thing.
Also worked with very violent children - I had to leave as it got to the stage I was too scared to go in. On my first day I got punched in the eye and spat on In that same place,
had some problems with one of my colleagues. I'd have to walk miles out of my way to avoid him when we went home.
My last paid job stopped about a year ago, that was all walking for hours everyday usually in the pouring rain
Apart from that I 've done freelance writing which was successful although I stopped as I didn't get any satisfaction from it. Also done loads of voluntary work - organising charities and doing all the finances. I stopped doing them as I kept getting asked to do more and more and it was hard to say no.
I was just thinking NGlady. I wonder if you'll be meeting a lot of men in your new job - or even on the phone?0 -
Hey all, Anglea, if my date turns up he turns up, if not then who cares...they all do the same job!!!
Glad the spending is going down for all of you! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hi everyone
Glad to hear things are going well for your NG lady nice you've got some good news.
Well yesterday I really really really really really wanted to order the following off QVC
TSV make up
Make up brushes
Purse
If I order these it would be well over £100!!! Well I didn't order anything!!!! And writing these makes me feel so much better than actually ordering any of them!!!! I think this thread is working for me.
My only spend was £55 at Mr T.....
Well it was a good job I wanted to give myself some rules next month as I have very little money....
I've got to take my husband to the hospital later as I think he broke something in his foot 3 weeks ago and he's been struggling with it at work and has finally agreed to go to the hospital today so he may have to go off sick so that is a worry!!!! It is still very swollen so will see what they say!!! Very worried.
Oh I'm currently on maternity leave till September.....
And I love coke zero but hate any other diet drinks strange ah.0 -

Hi everyone
I've been reading this thread with interest! I can say with conviction that I am a shopaholic but I seem to have gone from very expensive clothes, shoes, make up etc to (probably about the time of having my baby) things for the home, cleaning things, food etc. My friend made an observation the other day that really made me think- we went to some of the 'cheap shops' like B&M, Home Bargains etc and she said "L you just spent £60 today on stuff because it was cheap". I suppose it made me think because usually the thrill of getting a bargain over-rides the calculator in my brain which would tell me that my 'bargains' are soon racking up!!
For example today- I went to poundland and wilkinsons to buy some bits for the garden that we didn't really need. I went with £50 and have £5 left! I suppose it's because I see everyone else doing their garden I think 'oooh I'll do a bit of gardening today too'. The stuff I bought will probably sit in the shed for the next few months until OH either uses it or bins it. When I think I could've treated us to something we actually needed or wanted or even better paid this off my credit card- it makes me really angry with myself and then I can't enjoy the purchase anyway!
If it's ok can I join in please
xx Free of NEXT Hooray!!!0 -
Hi MissL2 welcome to our gang :j
I can really identify with the shopping for 'really useful items'
Like recently I bought a steam carpet cleaner but the thought of using it.........:(0 -
Haha I've been looking at those **hangs head in shame**
Does anyone else see a very strong influence from their mothers in their shopping habbits? My mum buys literally LOADS of nik naks, ornaments etc that really are quite a load of rubbish but blinkin expensive (bless her) but if I said that dress would suit you and it was £50 she would be disgusted at spending so much money on a dress xxx0 -
^I'm actually the opposite of my mother... she hardly spends anything on herself. On the other hand, I'm just like my grandmother :S
Welllllll today I went to a big retail park with my brother. MSD for me - £2.11 spent (£1.13 on food, 98p on essential toiletries). I saw a gorgeousssss top in New Look but they only had it in a size 10 which was obv. miles too small
Brother spent about £100 BUT I have to say he seldom goes shopping and tends to wear his stuff until it's threadbare (plus he's still growing, lol). He bought 3x pairs of jeans and a shirt. He probably won't go shopping for another 3-months now - I wish I was like that! He's in and out of the shop in about 15-minutes flat.
Anyway, how did everyone else do today? Seems very quiet, hope you haven't done anything naughty NGlady
Also hello MissL2, you're v welcome to join us. I am the same - can easily spend £1 here & there, but rarely spend more than £20 on anything it feels like 'too much. Silly really!!0 -
Hi All
I think I made a bit of a faux pas today! I've been wandering around in my Welsh rugby shirt all day wondering why I was getting funny looks;)LBM:FEB 2008
