  • Hi all, everyone doing really well with spending. Congratulations on handbag NGlady. Did you have a good time? I'm working today and hoping to have a NSD.
  • wow you have been busy :) holiday was great but amount spent not so good... £160 by me alone...nevermind what bloke spent :( then i went out last night and spent about £40 on taxis and drinks out with the girls.

I start slimming world tomorrow so that's another £4.95...

NSD today and hopefully will have a few more next week...though i don't drive and it's half term so may have to spend on travel.

i'll catch up with all the post later...right now i'm eating as much chocolate as i can to 'cure' my hangover and to get it out of the house before SW starts tomoz! lol
Hoping to of finally learned my lesson...slowly but surely

Welcome back, glad you enjoyed your holiday :) Shame about the spends, but tbh £160 doesn't sound like a lot to me? For a holiday, anyway :o

Good luck with SW. My friend joined there and has lost nearly 5st. About the chocolate, could you not give it away/bin it/spray it with perfume (:o:o:o) so you can't eat it? Unless you want to eat it, that is x
  • Today should be a NSD. I did some cleaning yesterday (hoovered & dusted) so today am going to concentrate on clothes washing - I know, my life is exciting

What are the rest of you up to? x

Hi all, I thought i would join in as i finally faced up to my debt which is the same as my annual gross income - gulp.

I spend too much on odds n sods, and occasionally splurge on clothes. I end up being drawn in and parting with my cash because they are cheap, yet over look the fact that they are not that nice and dont fit well. But still I dont take them back!! Internet shopping eh!

I have just recently bought two pairs of boots that looked lovely on line (hence thinking...ooooh i'll take one pair in black and one in brown) because they were in the sale. However when they came they weren't that nice and didn't even fit well as I got the size too small, as my size wasnt available and I couldn't pass up on such a bargain could I ;-) .

I have read through many of the helpful comments on this thread and have decided to spend some of this weekend sorting out my wardrobe, as I am sure I have lots things I could wear if I bothered to mend them/iron them/ put them with nice jewelry. Hell, I even found two pairs of much nicer boots at the back of the wardrobe than the pairs I just bought that dont fit!

It really hit home when I read one post about how it is much better to spend time taking care of your appearance by eating well, exercising, doing nails, hair, looking after skin etc. I think I buy stuff as I reckon it would make me look nice and then I would feel better about myself, but ignore the fact that my nails are bitten, spotty skin (bad diet!), need to tone up etc....and i would look and feel so much better if i sorted that out rather than just put on a new top...

anyway....heres to a good weekend to all of you

Aw, welcome!! I'm so glad what I wrote made sense to you! Honestly, I think a lot of us do that - we always want the quick fix - just as you say, we buy a new top to make ourselves look nice, when all we need to do is attend to the other stuff & wear what we already have! Clearing out your wardrobe will really help - good luck!

    Fri - NSD
Sat - Lunch out with a friend and a night out with the girls and only spent £18 all day - this is HUGE progress for me. Previously I would have spent £50 at least. It IS possible to do the same things and have fun so long as you remember to watch the pennies. Yay!

Tomorrow I'm meeting friends so a drink and going to get a diary for my spending only so I can see if I get better which is what I need to see.

Love the 10 day spending tips so thanks for those.

    Hello all :j

NSD today.Going ex's parents later. Forgot to take bread out of the freezer yesterday so had biscuits for breakfast :)

Velocity - glad you had a good holiday, hope the weather was ok for you.
Completelylost - you're the domestic goddess lately :) your other post said you spent much less this month than in previous ones - so that's good news.
Morocha - hi, I wonder if you manage to avoid those Nine West shoes or not? :)
VNMS - you had some brilliant bargains at that jumble sale - envy alert !!

FE - ineresting that a glass of wine costs £3 almost the price of a pair of PJ's. Still everyone needs a few treats.

Yesterday I had to rein myself in, at the supermarket and only bought a couple of thigns. All of a sudden, it seemed like every item was calling out to me. Probably because I have'nt bought anything exciting lately :(

NGlady - why are are waiting... why are we waiting :) (desperate for the gossip about your trip)....

    Good afternoon all :)

Deleted now we're a little more famous lol.

Today we're on a NSD so far :) In an ideal world I need to make £30 last me until Friday, so I have plenty of money for Thursday, so lots of NSDs needed this week *crosses fingers*

    Hello everybody,

it's so lovely to read all your posts and catch up again. I hadn't been on here since about the end of March.

I think I have discovered what is wrong with my dh. I think it is the side effects of the very strong medication he has been taking for psoriatic arthritis. I think that even a small amount of alcohol reacts with the medication and this is what has been causing his mood swings and depression. I will be so relieved if this is the case. For months now I have been thinking that he must be secretly drinking. However there has been no money missing from our joint account. He does not have access to any other money. I have found no evidence of empty beer cans or anything like that. I have asked him time and time again if he is drinking and he has always said no. We have argued so much about his irrational behaviour and it has all come to a head in the last few days with him saying that he will leave me. This is something so totally out of character as to be untrue. We have been together for 30 years and have always been very much in love despite being chalk and cheese.
However after researching the drug that he is on and looking at the side effects it has all fallen into place. I feel so much better. It doesnt cure the problems that he still has no work and money is still so tight. Although since restructuring our debts I am more able to cope on just my money as a short term solution.

Forgive the rambling post but I feel like I have had a Eureka moment. My spending is much more under control by the way. I am more into excercise and walking than shopping at the moment. I hope it lasts.
My Dad's health is a little better. I am trying to only go round to see him a couple of times a week. That sounds really awful but he is such a difficult man and I feel I have done all I can for him over the last 6 months and it would just be nice if he could be civil to me let alone show a little appreciation.

I also started decluttering and cleaning over the Easter and this has made me feel better although it has made me face upto the sheer amount of make up, clothes , shoes, jewellery and lotions and potions that I have bought over the past few years. It is genuinely shocking. I think I must have sleep-walked my way through half of these purchases. Pure madness.

Anyway sorry again for the rambling post. I am going to Somerset for the week so I look forward to catching up on all your posts next week. Thanks to all of you for all the sharing of your experiences and your very good advice.

SA, good to hear from you!

NGlady, glad you had a good day in Manchester. Yo Sushi is fab btw! You and me are very different so just asking and please don't take this the wrong way. If you don't fancy him then could you be with him anyway because he's 'nice'?
I went on a date with a guy on Friday and didn't fancy him. I got a text from him last night seeing if I wanted to do something and i had to say no. Would rather be honest than dodge calls etc so just said there was no spark. As I'm only looking for fun/sex I have to fancy them totally for that to happen and I didn't so not for me! I'm very interested in this as I am well aware that I'm not like most women on this one i.e I know I will always be single and live alone but enjoy good times with men and am totally disinterested in the whole 'relationship' thing.

I have very little money left til the end of the month btw too much wildness at the beginning of it as usual!
