Hi all
Thanks Souk, so now I know it wasn't a Fat white Bloke :rotfl:
Supersmith do tell us what you bought after you go out.
I went out but was loaded down with yet again more groceries etc so didn't feel like clothes, although did take a quick look. Spotted a cherokee, red t-shirt with RETAIL SHOPPING sewn in seed beads - in a very stylish way. I had a strong urge to buy it (even to wear on the computer when browsing this thread LOL) except considered what would happen if the beads came off in the wash. So resisted.0 -
Afternoon all,
Anglea - weather is quite nice here, bright with a little drizzle here & there. I didn't get soaked, just a bit damp!
Today is definitely a NSD - my mum has gone out, I decided to stay in as I know that if I *did* go out, I'd spend on something :S I really want an mp3 player for when I run. Somehow music always makes exercise seem like less of an effort... If I spend £40 on one, then I won't have much of my budget left to spend frivalouslyHmm, not sure what to do...
Anywya, today is going to be dedicated to cleaning (changing beds, hoovering room, washing clothes, dishes, keyboard & mouse need a clean, etc etc!!!) Wish me luck, I might not come out of this alive0 -
Ladies I have an announcement to make :O
I am GIVING UP SHOPPING.. Yes Angela, you read that correctly. For the next 27days I am not buying a single item of clothing/shoes/handbags/purses. I am doing this in competition with myself so until May the 1st no shopping shall be allowed. No toileteries shall be allowed either, unless any products that are necessities not just like to haves run out :O
Anybody think I will do this?! lol.
Mags - try the tv and electrical section of Debenhams, maybe your paths will cross there. "Excuse me, Im looking for a new TV... which one would you recommend" etc etcCheck for wedding ring "Oh thankyou, thats one I would have never picked that one, but its great - you must let me thankyou, fancy popping into Debenhams cafe for a coffee on me?"
I hate rude men like your plumber. What an obnoxious person to enter somebodies home and talk down to them :O
Completelylost - you went jogging :O I went walking a couple of nights ago with every intention of doing it every night :S lol Ive done it once.
Afraid my spending is much worse than you and I wasn't saying it to make you feel better lol.
Yep Primark has got really nice all of a sudden :O Yep they had it in like a pinky colour, a nudey beige colour and a black I was toying with the pink but ended up with the beige.
Souk - what an idiot standing u up :O Not a nice feeling is it at all. Glad you was with your mate when it happend, and least you knocked into somebody errr friendly
Angela, bless you, you don't need to get specially dressed up just for us!
Yep the post office was open yesterday. Was a suprise to me and my Dad to cos he told me it wouldn't be open. We then went into Asda and it was until about 6pm. I've read somewhee on the forum that good friday wasnt being classed as a Bank Holiday this year?
Yep I'm very much the type to buy things on Holiday. Last year in Tenerife (I go on Hol with my parents and love it) My dad reckons he spent more time standing outside Zara and friends waiting for me than he did on his sun lounger lol. In his words when he went back to work. "Hey Mr Lauranotts father what did you do on Holiday" "I waited" "Mr Lauranotts fathers employer you waited" "Mr Lauranotts father.. Yes I like waiting" lol.
Supersmith - thats my logic I don't really go out much so my vice is buying things. Like most girls my age there vice is going drinking every friday and saturday spending 60 quid a time I prefer to shop... :S lol.
I suppose you ladies are wondering about my weekly spends... here goes lol. Angelas got the smelling salts if anybody needs some

Hi all
Completelylost - I hope you're doing the cleaning and not slacking off!
NGlady - Giving up shopping for a month :rotfl:Books and eating out as well???
That was funny to read about your dad. He's got a lot of patience.0 -
Angela,
I dont buy many books to be honest for it to be worth while giving up. But I shall deffinatly be restricting myself to a tenner for all the magazines I want this month :O Eating out shall probably be done still, as it is my intention to still go out quite a lot but avoid buying things, shall put a budget of £30 on that until the end of the month. My only loophole to this is, if I get my Job at Asda im going to need a few pairs of thick socks to go in my shoes for comfort and I need a bodyshop body butter as it keeps its lovely smell all day so would be good for a hot place to work in.
Have to think of a nice rewardLearning to be 'good with money'0 -

Oh well... next week is a new week! Do you think you can do it? I know I couldn't, I need at least a little fix or else I go mad with the online shopping.
My unnecessary spends last week were... *goes to check* £24 . One of my better weeksShame that the earlier part of the month was so atrocious.
Hi all
Completelylost - I hope you're doing the cleaning and not slacking off!
.:o:o you've caught me out. I have done the dishes & clothes washing.. next task is to strip my bed. Worst task ever
I'm really serious about not spending too much this month. I'm concentrating on clearing the stash of unwanted stuff that needs to be sold/swapped... decluttering in general, instead of going out and buying more stuff which will just make matters worse.
I have a few more returns to make too (£7.20+£4+£16) so that'll clear a little more space on my bedroom floor.
edit - actually, I lied! My spends from Saturday to Saturday were £72.75.0 -
Loving the posts.
I've not been keeping a very good account on what I've spent this is something I need to get better at as I want to be able to look back and see how I've got better (a bit like when you lose weight!!!)
Today
Hair colour and cut - £60 which was well worth it would cost over £100 if we weren't friends!!
Thorntons - £4ish for easter stuff for my husband
Art shop £3 paper pallette could have done without but didn't want to.
Have realised my weakness is magazine I just love them and although I subscripe to some I can still spend a fortune so this needs to be curbed....
Shopping on Friday was £78 which is shocking really is it me or is food getting so much more expenisve especially if you want to eat fresh foods!
Had quite a few things from the next sale but next month I think I'm going to have a no spend on clothes!!!! This will be very hard although I'm currently on maternity leave so don't really have any money and OH money won't be great next month either!!!0 -
TLB - I don't do my own food shopping but I often go food shopping with my Mum, and even I have noticed a sharp increase in prices of food. The amount the same shop has risen in price over the last year!
Well Saturday has been a NSD for meI have been thinking about the "terms and conds" of my little experiment this month. So nomally, I have £10 in my purse each day.. this has gone down to £5 this £5 has to cover all buses etc and anything else I might need, anything that doesn't get spent each day shall go over to the next day. I've worked it out that this would give me £35 per week, so if theres anything I need, it has to come out of this.
Completelylost - do I think Ill do it. In reality probably not, as I to need a fix, but will I try - deffinatly
Well as a lot of you may have read, I love to spoil my neices/nephew. And today, one of my neices has really made me feel "its worth while" to treat them so well. She went shopping this morning with my sis and has brought me a big tobloerone and gave it me with a big smile, climbed onto me and gave me a kiss and a cuddle. Worth every penny i've spent on her over the last year
I have decided aswell as my £10 magazines £30 food to have a £10 budget for any treats I want to get for my neices/nephew, but also if I see anything which would be good for any upcoming birthdays etc. Must research cheap pressies for my dads birthday (14th april) this bank hol to avoid overspending..
Lol... Im thinking of making a thread on here the dairy of Laura lol.Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
Aww, I wish I had nieces/nephews to spoil
But my brother/sisters are still young teens so it's not going to happens anytimes soon (I hope, lol
).
You should start a diary if you think it'll help. Though this thread has become like a diary for a lot of us (me included)...
I'm bored with doing the household chores now. I've now changed my bed, guess I best crack on with the hoovering/dustingI would make a really rubbish housewife.

Another benefit of having Nephews is when they force u to go to McDonalds :O I need to declae a £4 spend
Only have £26 left in my budget for this month for food :O
Yep, I started hoovering last night about 6pm and cleaning up, come 7pm my msn had somebody i wanted to talk to online and well the hoover is still lieing in my bedroom in its "in use" spraweled out look. I don't think housewives would work for me either. I love the smell of polish tho!Learning to be 'good with money'0
