I'm loving this thread and would like to join as really need to be good with my spending as on maternity leave!!! And OH job is not looking good lots of redundancies and not much work in!!!

So today is a NSD as at home and will only be going out for a walk with the dog and DD.... So good start although yesterday was awful!!!

Can someone tell me about the two purse system - I've looked back a few pages but can't see exactly what it is. Thanks
  • It IS scary how spending can mount up, you guys are right.

I've disposed of a dress, a jumper and an old work coat so far today as well as other rubbish. Still soldiering on with the decluttering amongst downloading music from a torrent site on my other computer and reading a book. Madness. Also reorganised my kitchen cupboards yesterday and finished it today while I was waiting for my lunchtime pasta to cook so now I know exactly what I do and don't have.

Ref #1283, Christmas in Tesco, had my Christmas day shop, wine, beer turkey etc etc and because my daughter, who was 18 but had no ID they would not sell me the alchohol. Left the full shop on the conveyor belt and walked out.

Library of OAP's. What about travelling to a library in a town that has a university?

Lady V - I was reading your other post with your first total £248 and it didn't seem to add up from your weekly spends until I noticed the 2 x 40 then the coat. Amazing how fast it all mounts up.

Hmmm I never thought about Universary Library's, althought I don't really know why I'm asking, I have a lovely boyfriend. :o

I can't believe the amount I spent, but a large chunk was necessities and I do LOVE the coat. I've just figured out I actually spent £60 in Primark (not £50) and I actually have £ 92.94 to last me the rest of the month (GULP). :(

  • LadyV, when you say the rest of the month, do you mean March or April? Today's 31 March....

Going to look at clothes in Matalan, Tesco and Primark tomorrow although I've never bought anything from Tesco (clotheswise) and Primark doesn't really appeal either. So I may end up buying something; I saw some nice dresses in the Matalan catalogue; £8 for one I liked....

I mean the end of April (well 27th April) :(:(:(

I do have a little bit of eBay/surveys money that I could use though, only about another £100 so it's going to be a very frugal month of using what I already have food and toiletries wise.

  • You can do it!! I have loads of toiletries so am fine in that respect.

Just listed 4 more items on Greenmetropolis, including the book I was reading...now finished.

    Plodding on with more decluttering.....

Men on this thread - whatever next . Seriously though, I too thought that shopaholic tendencies were confined to us girls but why should they be! I live with such a shopaphobic guy I guess I just (wrongly) assumed all men were as frugal with their cash. :D

NGlady - what a fab idea with the 2 purses. Have got a second one going now and it'll be a treat to have some 'guilt free' spends.

LadyV - thanks for the keep fit tips. No room for fitness machines I'm afraid but nothing stopping me from going for a nice walk. Live on the edge of a lovely park but don't think I set foot in it since my DD's first week back at school in September. We walked to school and intended to walk every day (where possible) but whaddaya know, it rained, and rained and rained and we got out of the habit. Maybe after Easter it'll be nice again.

Have spent very little this week but today had to fill the car and it cost me £42. Fuel going up tomorrow following the Budget. Thanks Darling

    Hey all,

Yes had a horrible headache all day! Had a good day though, got my hair chopped and bought some yellow stickered lamb in Somerfield that I need to stick in the SC later.

My two purses are so that I have my Grocery Challenge money seperate but when I have clothes money I keep it in a zipped bit of my purse.

I use my library a lot but it's city centre and full of vagrant types! Great books though. Reading Frankie Boyle's autobiography just now. It's hilarious.
