  • OK so that killed an hour. Just 4 more until it's time to get up, and then surviving the day on 3 hours sleep. Yay.

And enough of my bullcarp. I survived a carp relationship, three years of keeping a debt to myself, I councelled myself through the breakup and reacted to the nightmare of the other job, by going out and getting another one, when i could quite easily have been signed off for months with ill health. I took myself off on holiday by myself for my birthday mid break-up, something all my brave friends said they could not have done, so at the end of the day, I'm a fighter, although I need to convince the little voice inside my head of this. So off to make a cup of hot water, and try and sort my head out a bit more with some online advice and councelling type stuff. I will work myself through these feelings.

  • Yes folks I'm still here.

Just had a read through of my cv and applicant statement. This is how little I think of myself... the person in both doesn't sound like me (plenty of experience and sounds confident), I can't believe the writing standard is something I am capable of producing. Is that weird?

Slap yourself across the face with a wet kipper and pull up your socks. So you miss the odd typo - thats what secretarys are for. They are your most important line of defence between you and your client. Insist on access to one if only to proof read before posting important stuff.

If your CV was so weak you wouldn't be praised on it nor would you get interviews. Equally if you were as waffly and dull as you claim I wouldn't be a diary subscriber nor would I be arguing the toss right now when I should be eating the rather soggy bowl of cereal at the side of the keyboard - multitasking is an artform!

Two years is an awful long time away from anywhere. People change, other people will have missed you and found your replacement to be a totally different person to you. If you left the job because of one specific person and they'll have some input into your daily life then its not the right job for you. Otherwise what the chuffing hell are you getting worked up about? Surely the time to worry is after they've offered you the job! No ifs, no buts, no maybes!

So what if the end of your notice period is over x-mas. You don't actually need to hand your notice in that early. You're well within your rights to tell your current employer that your last working day will be Jan 3rd and hand your written notice in one month before that date. Just because you know you're going doesn't mean you have to tell them you're going until it suits you! Besides which you haven't been offered the job yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worry about these things when they're actual problems otherwise you'll be a gibbering wreck.

    PS Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :j

Moo2moo perfect words. What will I add? Being afraid of a job is a good thing; that is my philosophy. One can go for a job that makes them feel confident / secure / know it all ... what is the point? You already say you are bored and need to be stretched. Go for the interview; you have nothing to loose and stop worrying on things that have not yet happened. You don't get the job; no problem you would have had the opportunity to rehearse (how often do you take interviews nowadays?).

Coffee for you today I guess!

  • Cheers guys.

I had a reality check last night. What the hell does it matter? Too much focus on work. All it does is bring in the money. Family are so much more important.

Hope you have a good day everyone.

    xx

Awake crazy early for a sunday, but at least I can pack plenty into the day. Just 4 more days until more debt busting and 5 more days until I turn 30. Then I'll need to start being even more sensible. I am a changed Thrifty though, because even though I'm disappointed that I've had to creep into my overdraft by £19, the sensible side of me is going to make that up with birthday money rather than get myself something with it. So you see I have almost nailed down the idea that if I spend my money in one place, I have to go without something else. Any other birthday money is going to go on debt busting. The greatest gift I can give myself, is paying off these debts. OH thinks I should keep cc1 once it is paid off and use this as my emergencies only CC in the future. To be honest, and I know this probably sounds old fashioned of me, I just want to live life for a bit with only an overdraft (unused) as the credit available to me. Get back to the old me, where everything is paid up front and accounted for. I don't want that purchase to have a wolf lurking in the background ready to pounce if I can't pay.

So the rule for 2011 is 'back to simpler times', although I've signed up for my next OU course, so I'll be paying £1200 a year until 2013 to finish my masters. However this will build on my skills and hopefully land me better paying jobs, so we can work towards our dreams of having a small holding and retiring at 50.

    xx

  • Ok so I changed my signature 4 days early, but will be out and about on thursday. This is what I will be paying off regardless so here we are. Another 3 benchmarks.

    1. cc1 under 1k and first debt down to the hundreds
    2. loan sub 2k now
    3. Overall total out of the 8k mark and cruising into the 7's, will be into the 6's by the skin of my teeth by the end of the year, and not quite 50% paid off.

    Wahoo

So thinking about the year ahead and being older and hopefully wiser, here are some of the things I want to tackle. Todays task list looks a little something like this:

    1. De-mildew windows and hang nets back up now that these have been de-mildewed (darn sash windows)
    2. Watch charlie and the chocolate factory ( had the dvd on the shelf for many weekends promising that I will watch it) and as this is my last free weekend before christmas this is the last chance I'll get.
    3. Read book.
    4. list and cost ingredients for making christmas pudding, mince pies, leibkuchen, and ribbons etc for presents.

I did quite a bit of cleaning yesterday including getting a damp sponge and washing down all the paintwork. I know what you're thinking, this girl really knows how to enjoy herself!!!

Over the next year I want to tackle two of my bad habits

    1. Stop procrastinating. I'll start the day thinking I'll do a job, then spend the whole day both not wanting to be bothered to do it, but then feeling guilty and annoyed that I haven't done it.

    2. Discipline-losing weight, stop spending, and study!!!!

ok well lets make it 3.

    3. Stop saying 'ooh, I'd like to do that' and then doing nothing about it. Just bl00dy well do it. Ooh I get so angry with myself sometimes!!!

2011 is my year to shine, and I'm going to get back to my slimmer (never slim), financially prudent self.

    4. Sit and concentrate on one thing and one thing only, and not giving up when it gets hard. I'm going to learn how to knit, and I'll sit there and click sticks until I can do it. Every week I watch Kirsty's home made home, and wish I could make things. Well guess what? I'm going to make them.
