  • Will try to make today another no spend day. Although taking my card with me just incase the dove thing doesn't work.

Can't wait for payday-and for once not to spend, but more to not some more off those totals above.

    Have a great day everyone

    :)

  • Had a good day today. Couldn't get the dove offer, because the system at work wouldn't allow me to download the voucher printer, but asked them to post it to me instead.

Had to spend 99p on antihistemines, which was annoying as I was intending today to be another no spend day. Also bought cheesy poofs after being as a treat to myself for post traumatic job interview test, therapy.

Trying to keep the treats small and feel really proud of myself. I feel quite in control again. My achievements today:

    1. Resisted even looking at sale items in M&S-reasoning if I didn't need it, I needn't waste time looking.

    2. Put back the delicious cheese and tomato M&S sub roll, even though I really wanted it and it was the last one on the shelf (the thing that always makes me buy something)

    3. Did not rush to the ATM when the international market was on in town today, and the gorgeous smell of ostrich burgers was wafting under my nostrils. I remained in control, in spite of a growling stomach, and went back to the office and ate my salad.

  • Wahoo it's friday.

Have designated friday as treat day, but with a maximum allowance of £3, all other days are to be no spend days.

Tasks for today-try and get freebie samples from the Bodyshop and Lush.

Just 20 more days until payday and I can knock a tiny lump off the totals.

Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Starting off so positive, yet clearly I'm not back on the wagon yet. Spend today £11. I let myself have the £3 friday gift, and that let the floodgates open. Feeling rewally ashamed of myself now, grey day, boring day at work. Everything seems boring. Fed up.Tried to make myself feel better by getting freebies. Got Dr haushka cleansing wash, bodyshop facecream and lush exfoliator free. Still don't feel any better though. Didn't help that I saw Dewberry showergel in the bodyshop. Limited and awesome, also had run out of stock in one shop, and a lady in there was buying up 6 of everything. You don't know how hard that was to resist. The only way I can make this up is to not have spend days for the following three fridays. Spent it all at once, now I can't spend a single penny until 5th March. Stupid.:(

  • Right, Going to have to have a weekend of sorting things out to ebay I think. Starting with those Christian Louboutin shoes, that rat boy made me earn my going up into the attic. I'll save and buy my own pair with my own money when I'm 40 (I'll hopefully have regained my sanity. This is hard:(

  • Ok.

After yesterdays dissapoinment that I didn't get through the test stage for the job, am back on the case, guns blazing. I will get the job I want, I'm determined, still studying and full of ideas. I'm going to join every agency and apply to every graduate fast track programme I can. Going to sort stuff out for ebay today, which means the clutter level goes down, and hopefully my bank balance goes up. Going to try and make another payment off that big credit card bill before payday.

One day I'll stop paying for the education and the money will start to come in. Fingers crossed. Determined to start getting some recognition (and more importantly money), rather than have those higher up claiming my ideas for their own, and them reaping the benefit of twice my salary. Fighting back in 2010!!!!

  • OK,

Third attempt to post this after computer crashed and then got logged out.
Thanks Triangle, wishing you lots of luck on your journey too.

My new tip for buying (or rather not), if you want to buy something, imagine rather than paying out that money, that instead the value of that purchase was being credited to your bank account. Soon put me off.

Finding now that I have cut back, other people are getting their purses out to pay for stuff. Usual trick is OH mentions something, and before you know it, it's in my basket and I'm paying for it. Now I act like I haven't heard, so we either go without, or he has to find his own money for it.

Just off to do the weekly shop. See you later!

  • Well I had a good shopping trip, then came back to a lovely letter from Virgin Credit Card, which I thought was ominous. And yes it was. They are hiking my interest up from 15.6 to 27.9% apr . I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. I can opt out of it , but then I cannot use my card ATALL!!!

Gits!!!! I'm angry and I'm going to complain to everyone I can think of. No more Virgin branded anything for me. They can go to Hell.

Please also see my new thread. Virgin credit card BE WARNED!!!

  • Getting over my anger a bit now. Still can't believe them though. Guess it hurts because it is a slap in the face for how silly I have been. Pride is severly dented at the mo. Well put it off for long enough time to get those shoes out the wardrobe and onto ebay. Selling your possessions is never a nice thing I guess, but needs must. It drills home that the situation I have gotten myself into is a bad one, and who needs those things hanging round anyway? They are just going to be a reminder of how much it cost me, emotionally and financially to have them. Couldn't afford them in the first place, and now I have to let them go. Expensive rental items!!!

Oh well, we live and learn I guess. Next month will bring all new challenges I guess. Life without credit card spending power, it's not even there if I get tempted after I opt out of the 'sell your soul to the devil' apr rate.

I guess it will seem silly after the initial pain of packing my life into tissue paper and jiffy bags and sending them on their way. But I suppose I should look at it in a different light. My life is beginning from this point on.

    *sigh*
