New year, New me (finally)

  • Ah now I understand and yes it has passed me by - never seen it. Love Heroes though and never miss - just wish BBC would stop messing around with the schedules this series.
  • I have decided that after calm consideration I am going to find the job that deserves me this year. I realise that I have spent the last 10 years being managed by people who steal my ideas and pass them off as their own. This year it has reached the point of crazyness where not only am I giving my line manager and faculty manager ideas on how to do their jobs better, I'm also covering my Head of Department's behind too. I've been in the job just over a year and also passed my first masters course at the busiest time in my role. Now this is a big wake up call. Stop languishing on the bottom and start being one of the top feeders.

Luckily I have project management training this month, and I'm going to use that to get myself a better job. Why when I have struggled to get my degree whilst working full time, am I still on a salary I could have gotten without the degree? Lack of confidence methinks.

Well if I want that house and to get out of this sticky situation, time to start believing in myself and start getting paid what I am worth!!!

Finding a new job sounds like a plan to me (have just subcribed to your thread). I'm in a similar position in a low paid job, due to husbands frequent moves with the RAF, and much more qualified than many in my department as I will complete my degree this year.

I think it is very easy to get into a situation where you can talk yourself out of going for a new job (the description doesn't sound quite right, you don't think you're qualified enough or have enough experience......the list goes on) but often what you think an employer is looking for and what they actually want can be two different things.

Good luck with finding a job that uses all your skills and qualities - it's only a matter of time before it comes along if you keep looking.;)
  • Awww, thanks guys.

Think my biggest thing is lack of confidence, which is holding me back. Has got to the point now though where it is stopping me from doing the things I want to do. Someone suggested singing lessons to improve confidence. Hold your ears world. When I have some cash again, I might have a go. :)

Bleugh monday tomorrow, boring committee servicing prep. Zzzzzzz.

Only three more days til payday then though. Gosh it's been a long month, and with no credit card half way through for emergencies.

Oh well, as that cringey 80's song went 'when the going gets tough, the tough get goin'
No donning of slouchy tshirts, backcombing of hair or sweatbands round here though.

Tomorrow I'm going to get my secret power work wear, out of the wardrobe and wear it to work (i normally shy out of it, in case someone happens to notice me standing out of the crowd, or in this case creepy mr fitzherbert types, openly staring at my boobs- eeek!)

Top turned up from ebay and is a size 8, I'm a size 12 as it said on the auction, so now no top to wear on saturday and have to go through the wrangles of trying to make contact with the seller etc etc.Auctions ending soon and not sure if Paypal will be up and running in time to receive money etc. Sick of all this hassle now. Not buying any more of anything and getting this lot shifted out the way.£170 for car servicing and OH informs me that we will need to factor in shoe sale money to pay for it. Not happy. Just bring on thursday and payday. Yuk.weird thing is though, checked in branch what I owed on the loan and it is £297 less than what it says on online banking. Weird. Just want this year over with.:)

  • Ok,

Well lets hope Tuesday is a better day. Hardly any sleep because house was freezing last night. Tried to add bank details to Paypal again and still saying that this is linked to another account. This is getting frustrating now. Rubbish meeting today too.

Sorry for the moan. Tired and grouchy.

    :(

  • But still, only two more days to through get to until payday. I'm having M&S cheesy puffs on thursday, oh yes I am. Can a person survive with no access to a credit card and only £1.96 in their account for the last 4 days? Apparently they can. Can a person resist M&S cheesy puffs for more than one week? NO WAY!!!

Well at least this has allowed me to realise that I don't need all the stuff I was buying before.

Treats for March will be :
    1) Haircut-can't wait, plus you get beer to drink. :) £20

    2) Eyebrows threaded- I'm resembling Parker from Thunderbirds at the mo.£10

    3) 1 lunchtime drink with girly colleagues.£10

    4) Friends birthday bash £20

    5) £10 for misc pick me up cheesy puffs etc.

    Total spend for March £70
