Hey Happy, lovely to see you! Yay to going part time! :j

Yes Maty, I am procrastinating. No, no course work has been done! Yesterday I walked up Ben Lomand with my friend. This is Ben Lomand:
    2Q==

And that's Loch Lomand in the foreground. We didn't make it to the summit as neither of us are experienced or quite fit enough to be hill walking through the snow that lay higher up. But it was fab and I can still move today! :D

Then I went around to my friend's to watch a movie. I can't belive I didn't fall asleep! Though I'm pretty knackered today. I'm about to go to the gym to try and counteract both the tiredness and the soreness that is bound to set into my limbs (burger, I was going to walk but, guess what! It's chucking it down!). Oh yes, I'm also going to procrastinate on the course work! (Actions speak louder words they say. Then it's pretty darn clear this course work is not on my priority list! Keeping myself sane should be though!!! Time to speak to the boss again methinks. Do you think perhaps one day I will learn? ;))

I also paid off £351.25 to the RBS loan on the 18th. I didn't think it went through, so I did it again. I had a look just there, it still hadn't gone through so I did it again. It's just occurred to me that it probably hasn't gone through because I did it on Friday night after close of business. Though usually the transaction comes off your online banking right away. So now I think I might have 3 pending transactions for £351.25 each. So a grand total of £1,053.75 coming out of the account if they are all actioned at the same time. I sense a phone-call to the bank tomorrow morning!

Ooooooooopppssssss!!!! :o I do (just, with the overdraft) have this amount available in the account. But it does mean if I do get anything through from housing about the water fiasco, they'll be getting token payments!

And I have inadvertently spent my holiday money on paying debt! :rotfl: The irony!

It does mean another grand of the total though (which has just dipped under the 16k mark)! :T (Which takes it to half of what I think it might have been at it's highest point.)

Remind me again, before we had our LBMs, could people talk to us about what a mess we were getting ourselves into?

My friend is currently doing exactly as I did. She's doing a second degree, working to make ends meet but has taken out the student loans to help with living costs. But is now over her overdraft limit and having her credit card declined when buying food in the supermarket. But as soon as she "finds money to avert a crisis" (I don't know what she means when she says this), she's goes out or buys soemthing new. She doesn't think she has debt problems because she's not in as much debt as I am and she's better with her money than her flat-mate. She's also the one that was/is wanting to come on holiday with me and suggested a cheap beach holiday. I know she can't afford it. But I can't seem to get her to understand (she knows all about my debt and this sight and get's the weekly email... but I think she buys all the bargains...)

Is there anything we can do when some-one has their head in the sand? Did we listen to any warnings before we had our LBMs? Personnally I don't remeber any-one warning me, but maye I just didn't want to hear.

Do I need to use tough love? And if so, how tough? It's so hard to watch some-one make the same mistakes you're working your !!! off to sort out. And I know she won't like this side of the coin!!!

I'm going to take the car to the gym given the rain. Which means I can do my food shop on the way. If I can, I'll also buy a whip. It'll get a lot of use; I'll whip my friend into shape about her money and then I'll hand it over and she can do the same to me about my course!

P.S. 6 NSDs in a row. 10 in total because I'm not counting any for the beginning of the month where I couldn't remember how many I'd done. Which will make reaching my target of 19 pretty tough!

Awww, the other piccie of Ben Lomand didn't seem to work. Wonder if this one will...

ETA This sky wan't so blue yesterday. I suspect it never is and there has been some air-brushing going on! ;) The clouds yesterday were fabulously big and fluffy. Some were whiter than white. Some were murky and some were dark and brooding.

Hi Nic, Nope there is no telling somebody until that LBM arrives. You can tell her til you are as blue in the face as that sky and it wont work. I hate to suggest this because I know you would like a holiday but if you do know that she cant afford it right now would you consider not going. You can tell her that you cant afford it and maybe look at something cheaper closer to home?

Thanks for the lovely picture. Loch Lomond and the surround areas are my own little piece of heaven and I love it there. Nearly bought a shop in Arrochar but it all fell through. In hindsight that was a blessing as 4 months later my hubby traded me in for a younger family model.

Thanks Cherisong. Yes, I have thought of doing exactly that. It's also why I was looking at Peak District or Yorkshire Dales in the first place; I would be happy to go to them on my own. I hadn't realised just how bad it was until I was speaking to my other friend when we were walking. By her own admission, she's never been that great at holding onto money, but she was horrifed my friend called her up to say she could go out after telling her she'd "just averted a debt crisis". So she cancelled the night out.

Anyway, my holiday plans may well be the abridged version. If the bank has processed all of those payments, I think I'll let them take it. It was ultimately where I wanted the money to go anyway. I'll be happy if I can find a cheap overnight spa deal or something. :D

I'm absolutely with you on Loch Lomand and the Trossachs. My walking friend and I aspire to be rich enough to own somewhere in the area. One day, one day...

If you ever do buy a shop up that way, do let me know! I'll give up my job and come work for you! :D (What a horrible thing for your hubby to do. I'd say I hope you gave him a good slap but I rather suspect you might be better at turning the other cheek than I am. :( Big hugs to you.)

RBS now sitting at £5,530.00. I forgot I'd put another £13.69 toward it. I haven't updated my total due. I think I'll just do that monthly or I'll be the number will torment me! :)

Well done on that total, do you want to take over my finances for a month?

Ahhhhhhhhhh the Trossachs, bliss. I didn't slap ex because he didnt stand still long enough to catch him :). In hindsight he did me a very big favour as I am now with my soulmate who I fell in love with at age 15 but never had the courage to do anything about it. That said he is driving me potty at the moment!
I am sure that your friend will have the LBM and when she does you can step in then. In the meantime you and your other friend are doing the right thing, setting a good example (ooooo I sound like my Mum).

There are sometimes some really good spa deals with Expedia - they come up quite regularly at the moment starting at £10, I think that they are usually advertised on here. Are you a member of secret sales or groupon. I am a member of Secret Sales and they are quite good but some things are still expensive try having a look http://secretsales.com/about_/

Oooh! I like the secretsales site! :D

And I'm very glad to hear you are with your soulmate now (even if he is being a pain! You gotta love that about them ;).)

It looks as though the bank were more clever than I gave them credit for - and certainly more clever than I was! It looks as though they only processed one of the three transactions. :D:o

Though I might as well bit the bullet. Still no word from housing! And the last time I called they said there was nothing on the system. My flat mate recently told me they came out the day after I called and filled in the holes they'd left.

It doesn't fill you with confidence does it!!!! So why I am holding onto money they might want for a "repair" they haven't informed me about and can't tell me any more about? I might as well put it to the loan as it was originally meant for. And deal with housing if I need to. Why make it easy for them? They certainly don't seem to make it easy for me! :(

I am not really here. I just nipped on after completing one of my online assessments for my course. You thought I'd left it until the last minute the last time? I still have 4 online assessments and the case study to do before Friday. I have very full days at work.

And that horrible feeling you get in your tummy.

Role on this weekend! That's all I can say! Between working at my second job, I will mostly be sleeping!

And one day, I still hope I might learn. :D
