Well done, you have been brave today :T
I know you don't like talking to these people on the phone, but look at what you have managed to save already. Another day like that and you can have the potential savings sorted too.
I love the sound of the community garden, what a great idea :j I am sure there will be lots of people around to teach those that don't have a lot of experience. And how lucky are you to have that just on your doorstep:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Not bad at all. And don't worry about it - the people at the end of the phone are only human and the power of saying 'no' is in your hands, should you choose to use it.Please call me 'Pickle'

Just catching up as I have been very busy. Pleased to hear that the boss has sorted study leave and that you are giving it a month. At least if you do decide to give it up then you know it is the right thing rather than wondering. I also like the idea of giving up on perfection but also think that this will be hard for you. I remember when I was studying aromatherapy and I got an assignment back with a mark of 81% and saying in work that I was disappointed because I expected 90%, they were all amazed that I felt like that and I was shocked that they thought that 81% was a really good mark, it pulled me up short and made me think that perhaps I was setting my standards a tad higher than needs be! I still do it now but dont stress as much. Good luck with your attempts.
Love the sound of the new car. Well done on saving so much money too. Have you tried doing price comparison things for the electric or is that the cheapest you can get? That is a big jump! Also have they just automatically increased it, if you are ever in credit then they may not have set the price right. Once I got a letter to say they were increasing my electric but I had received 2 refunds in the year so I just rang to query it and they said it was done automatically so they left it as it was. It might be worth checking. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. God you are impressive Nic. I've got to send a letter to Plusnet on Monday asking for money back and for an amendment to the 12 month tie in (that I expected to start in December 2010!)
Cheriesong 81% is amazing!
I like the sound of a community allotment. Will check whether we have one down here.
I am filling in an application form for a 'Customer Consultation Officer' part-time post with a local Housing Association. The question 'an example of where you feel you have responded well to another person's needs/ aspirations and made a difference' - I am going to use the Dolls House.

Sounds like a cracking idea to me, Butti!
Nice productive day there, NiccaWhy not challenge yourself to make the most of your free LoveFilm months - I know you can get fitness DVDs and games from there, so you can try a few out and see what you might like to buy
Enjoy the community gardening, should have some tasty results! I need to check to see when my first rounds of seeds need to go in, and do some weeding when this wretched rain lets up...Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -
Cherisong - I think you might be right on giving up perfection.
But I do know I will keel right over in astonishment if I recieve a mark as high as 81% in this particular course. :rotfl: But then, I also know I haven't put the work in for such a mark. I might think very differently if I thought I had!
I think I'll need to go with the Scottish Power payments for now. Not only am I in a capped rate deal thingy, which I suspect I would need to pay to get out of, they did drop my direct debits probably about six months ago and it's been a long, cold winter for a wee bod like me to likes to keep cosy warm. So the heating has been on a lot. I definitely owe them. Though it might be easier to call them and pay the difference and ask to keep the direct debit as it was... (that'd be another of them pesky phone calls. I could even get good at them by the end of the year!).
Jesthar, genius idea on the LoveFilm months! I'll get right onto it!
I'm absolutely shattered! I was giving training to colleagues today and it was much tougher than the usual training I give (i.e. not to colleagues). I couldn't guage their reaction at all in the morning.
And I'll not even go into the technological problems! Suffice to say IT policies make it very difficult to transfer presentations to the places you need them. And if the only thing you can then do is fall back to your own laptop, you might then find a projector is too old to fit it. If the photocopier also joins in the protest, you're pretty much on your own. I believe the technical term is "winging it".(The afternoon session was fun though; lots of videos (yes - videos! On a big, ancient telly) and boy can I talk about what we acheived in those videos.)
Technology bad! It's been after me all week. Yesterday I realised I must truly be a grown up when I called the number on the pay and display machine to tell them said machine had eaten my change and had not kept its side of the bargain by spitting me out a ticket. I then had to traipse around, find a shop, buy some sweeties (mentos) for more change, find another machine, muttering curses under my breath to keep the traffic wardens away. All because I was going to the library on the much fought for study leave! I had to wander around 7 levels of the library before I fiound a seat too. It took me hours. Which could be seen as a little more than ironic! :rotfl:
Enough ranting... I'm off to check out pilates DVDs on LoveFilm and see if that chills me out a little.Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

It sure is; 12 stories in all - and still you need to look hard for a seat! They are obvioulsly more industrious at this particular uni than the one across town!
And very quiet, even in the silent areas... if that's the kind of thing that annoys you? :rotfl: (I do get annoyed at the tap, tap, tapping of keyboards though and every now and then I want to tap some-one on the shoulder and remind them that being in the library doesn't mean they'll absorb knowledge if they're going to stay on fb so long. :rotfl:) Says she who is whiter than white.
I can't say I'm going to be in a better position for this module! Work is just crazy at the moment (Literally! Some decisions are being made to save money, not people's wellbeing . Best you don't get me strated really!) and I'm off home this weekend for the first time since my flying visit at christmas. Study afternoon tomorrow though so I might feel more on top of it then.
I'm enjoying seeing some sunshine! (Even if it is still baltic!) It always puts a smile on my face! I'm still obsessing about going on holiday! I've 4 days leave to use up before April and with all the public holidays I can just about eke it out to two weeks! But I can't find a holiday for the price I want!!!!
I did find a lovely spa that I'll go to for a week if I ever win the lottery, forget my frugal ways and revel in decadence! (7 day "retreat" £1,750.00. Yes, really!)
So do let me know what lovely, frugal things I can do in a county around you, and I'll see what I can work out within my budget! I really just want to get away for 3 or 4 (or 6 or 6) nights so I feel like I've had a proper holiday.
One of my colleagues in my second job is trying to set me up on a blind date I think. Not entirely sure what I think about that! (Terror mostly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) I think I'd prefer a holiday.
The boring bits
I made 19 NSDs in February, so I've made that my target for March.
Letter to Co-op sent saying I want to change to their regualr current account thank you very much and save myself £9.50 per month. Not yet heard back...
Any-one remember that kitchen company way back then... they also have a letter (recorded delivery) asking where my money is (£100 ). And advising them they invest in training for their salesmen. And quoting the door to door sales act thingybobble. Not yet heard back...
Just now my head is mince so I'm away to drink tea, eat loads of those wee caramelised biscuits you get and investigate niccatw approved holibags!(I can't even remember if today was an NSD or not. I remember debating what I wanted for lunch whilst stuck in the car park because of the fire alram at lunchtime. Which meant I couldn't safely drive out of the car park and go on my visits. Which meant I got a bit distracted - and I seem still to be! I don't remember going into a shop to get lunch though so I think I'm safe!)
Yes. It has been one of those days! And I think tomorrow is set to continue in the same vain!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

How do you do 19 NSDs? I was trying to do one today but I don't think running out of petrol half way home would really have helped so I had to bottle it and fill up (well a fiver!)
Nic I thought I was the ONLY person on this planet who got annoyed by people typing in the library. I find the ones who can type a lot quicker than me particularly irritating :rotfl: But as you know yesterday I was finding students who were breathing or spotty irritating. I am very easily irritated in the library.
Anyway better go. I have two lots of reading to do before tomorrow's debate in class AND another debate in class. Workload bloody stupid at the mo....and I'm supposed to get a job.

Travelodge have a £10 room sale starting at 6am on 3rd March! Why not see where in UK you fancy going and then try for a travelodge deal. You could combine it with the Bigbus train deals at £1 and then maybe some Mr T vouchers. Amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons.
