Thank you Maty! Happy hogmanay to you too!

I'm at my second job for most of the weekend and actually really glad as I could do to sit down and calm down a bit from the last, crazy week!

(Being at home isn't much of a relaxing time when you have to drive home in icy conditions on christmas eve and then spend most of your 4 days there with a 4 year old (only just) hyper nephew and a 7 month old puppy! :D Not that I'd have missed it for the world! But loving the peace and quiet tonight!)

Looking forwatd to 2011 and perusing train journeys back to Littlehampton in the New Year. How soon can we all meet up again? :j:j:j:D

After your experience in the snow it is no wonder that you were wary on the ice. Glad you got there and back safely though.

We had Finnan the mad dog and 11 people at my big sister's for Christmas. All a bit manic but I do miss having littlies about. Tried to convince my 3 nieces that it is time to make my sister and I Graunties but they weren't too impressed with that idea :rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I can imagine! I'm still not impressed by my aunties (and mum, and granny and cousins and the person wandering by in the street...) suggesting it an I'm 3blerryblerrybler ! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

May/June would be nice but it would also be nice to make it down earlier for a smaller gathering :D. ...I should possibly run that one past the boss man!

I do believe there are a few birthdays in May... :D

    Thank you Maty!

May 2011 be fun and prosperous for you all! And may we continue on our journeys of self discovery and challenge ourselves to do the unthinkable! We all achieved so much on 2010 - let's do it again this year! :D

I was about to transfer £2300 to my RBS loan (the one sitting £9500ish below) as the money has now cleared. But the bank wouldn't let me transfer between the two accounts. Pah!

So they wouldn't let me put the cheque straight into the loand account, even though it has it's own account number and sort code.

And then it won't let me transfer the money from my current account to my loan account online.

Yet it's the same bank. And it will not let me move my direct debit to another bank either.

Bl**dy banks! Aren't they supposed to be making it easier for us to be paying these things back!

So it's takne 6 days for the check to clear and now I'll have to wait until the banks open to go create merry hell (which, let's face it I won't do to the poor random bank teller!).

    Harrummph!

But at least the thought was there! :D

This isn't something stupid like you are not allowed to pay off the loan early is it???

Do they have a telephone helpline? Mine does and it is available 24/7 (although it can be interesting talking to the offshore call centre sometimes :D).

Hey Happy, I've been working too. I'm shattered and I still that pesky case study to write too! :o

Maty, it shouldn't be. It was the first question I asked when taking the loan out and I've scrutinised the paperwork. As far as I can see Ican pay off as much as I like whenever I like.

I think I'll go into the branch and find out though - I hate phoning people at the best of times and call centres are very top of the hatred list!!!

If I can't pay to that loan then I'll pay it to the Northern Rock one as I can't move the mortgage until it's gone. Having said that, I still may not be able to move it as I'm not sure if my wee flat has lost value or not. (No intention of selling so don't need to know it's value at the moment. But it's also hard to guage as I live in an area where there are lots of different types of houses and also a lot of the people around me live in rented housing so, if they buy, it's usually at the reduced rate, so the prices around me vary hugely!)

Not hugely worried about the Northern Rock one at the moment as I've been overpaying since the base rate dropped (I wouldn't let them reduce my monthly payment) and that overpayment has been going to the loan part of the mortgage so it will have been going in the right direction at least (though it never looks that way when the statement comes through!).

I just want all of the debt down as far as I can possibly get it before the base rate rises and I'm at the mercy of the SVR on the mortgage.

Hence I have to take a deep breath when my flatmate annoys me just because he's there and I want my wee flat to myself.

Or when it's awkward to find time to do things when you've two jobs.

There is a plan there somewhere!

And once I pay off something with the tax rebate, I will calculate how much I paid off last year and up-date my signature and stuff (not done a snowball thingy in quite some time! But not sure I'm up for reposting an SOA! ;))

Might do that here rather on the actual board. Or just have a look at the SOA I posted in February and see if there are any ideas I couldn't contemplate then that might feel like child's play now :D.

Right I've been doing some totting up based on my current signature amounts - which I do need to double check are the most up-to-date amounts - but as it stands, in the last year I have paid off a grand total of
    £6,900.89

    :T :j :T:j
And that's not including the £2300 I'm trying to transfer, or the £600 cheque for working so many hours over New Year, or a couple of direct debits that are stuck in bank holiday limbo land.
So if I recalculate once all that's gone through, I'm going to be close to having paid off £10k since February 2010! (That's when I updated my SOA and started in earnest! Though I did fall off the wagon in the Summer :o)
