Hmmmm, the DHL tracking on the wearable sleeping bag says it was safely deliverd today. But it's not here. Neither is a card to say if it's gone to any of my neighbours!
Hmmmm, wonder what I need to do next then...
And can't imagine it was delivered in these conditions! Can't say I've seen any of their lorries as I've walked past stranded vehicles!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

My sister used to work for the planning dept of her local council. She was told that a chap was coming in from the Cottesmore Hunt to discuss their planning application.
Can you guess where I am going with this????
Oh yes, she managed to spoonerism the name of the hunt and was exceedingly embarrassed. And then she did it again.... and again..... she just could not say it the right way round. And she went very, very, very red :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Funnily enough we have never let her forget it
Thanks for being a hero and helping the lady with the twins Nicca, it is tough keeping hold of two at the best of times. When my twin nieces were at pre-school they used to put name labels on their backs working on the assumption that if you needed to know which one of them it was they were usually running away from you
Glad to know the car will be sorted shortly and that they will give you a replacement for the duration, even if you don't want to use it right nowBeen following the traffic news up there, it is just chaos isn't it? Don't know how they were meant to plan for such extreme's though, I have never seen it that bad. Haven't heard mention of Tomintoul so I assume they have been cut off again and we are just ignoring them for now. Did your pal ever get home last night? If not I hope he was safe at least.
I would be sending an email to the walking sleeping bag company to say you have not received it although it is showing as delivered so can they provide you with a proof of delivery ASAP.
Take lots of care!!!!! Keep safe!!!!! And try to keep warm!!!!!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Maty :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Your poor sis!
My friend got back home at 11.30pm on Monday, 9.5 hours after he started out. Though he fared much better than others by all accounts! I've never seen anything like it and I've been here for 15 years now! ( How'd that happen?!!!)
The cars are taking back to the roads today. But it's still chaos! The gritters haven't made it anywhere other than the main roads and the M8 is still like a car park.
I'm not risking it in a courtesy car I've never driven before! (Though thankfully it's a Fiesta so I should figure it out) Cars are still skidding all over the place. And this car is petrol not deisel so I'd be stalling it all over the place at the best of times!
Tomintoul is supposedly 2°c today - a whole 10°c warmer than Glasgow when I left work earlier! But they are forecast snow tomorrow. Glasgow's forecast is for rain.
I got in touch with the sleeping bag company. DHL in Germany is the German post office equivalent to Parcelforce and what we know as DHL is DHL express for them. So their records show that my sleeping bag is being held at my post office depot.
I haven't had a card, but that's probably not surprising as they probably haven't got around to getting through the backlog of parcels. I did get a christmas card through the post today though (thank you Psycho). It's the first delivery since last week. I'll give them a few more days - but not too long or they'll send it back to Germany!!!! I've an amazon order on the way too, so my eyes are very much peeled!
People at work were laughing at me (hopefully in a nice way) for playing the hero! But I couldn't have walked past them Maty, wee souls! Apart from anything else, that's gotta be bad karma!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Sally Traffic has just given the (horrendous) traffic news... and now they are playing "King of the Road". Good job my flat mate isn't in - I like this one but I cannot hold a tune! :rotfl:
Yes - you saw that right! My flatmate is out!!!! He got a part time job!!!! At the sorting office! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: If only it was the one our post goes too!!!!! Long may it (his job taking him out of the house) continue!(Though I think it's only christmas temping.)
My supervisor however is doing my head in! And she's not even made it in to work because of the snow! She keeps emailing me to book in visits. I said no chance as I wasn't driving (and becasue folk generally don't want you in their house this close to christmas anyway) but she persisted, saying we could cancel if the weather was bad. I've just ignored that. I do wonder if she ever sees things from any perspective other than her own.
It's getting so I'm wondering whether or not I should be looking for another job! I like my job (mostly!) And most of the team. But I just find her and my boss impossible. Completely inconsistent! Which doesn't make for an easy working environment. If my boss was more consistent I could probably deal with it, as my boss doesn't suffer fools gladly and is usually very sensible. But she doesn't seem to deal with her staff team in a boss-like way. She just keeps telling me "Yes. She's very serious." (My interpretation of "very serious"; more like completely inflexible and unapproachable!)
I know your always going to get problems in the workplace. But I do not respond well to be treated in the same way supervisor treats her kids! And the (apparent - though I'm aware this might be paranoia on my part!) need to bring problems back round to being something that I am not doing.
Still trying to figure out how to tackle this with professionalism and dignity!!!! (I want to throw a paddy! I'm sure you'd never have guessed by my low key ranting) I have asked boss for a meeting and it should have been today but she cancelled because of the weather (though wouldn't re-arrange it on Monday or Tuesday when she was stuck in my office with me, with hardly any-one else about and certainly without supervisor about).
Life's too short! B*gger stressing about work all the time!
Maybe I need to tripple my debt repayment efforts! Get them paid as quickly as possible so I can go part time or look at what else is out there for me that I might prefer to be doing!
Probably not dressmaking; I wouldn't make much money out of half finished clothes! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Ok, this is getting ridiculous! Three folk are off sick at second job which leaves three of us trying to cover shifts while he still has emergency 24 hour care...
While this will be great from a money point of view and I like that job and don't find it in the least stressful...
I am ignoring the fact that I now have 5 assessments and one case study to do by 12 noon this coming Friday!
Is it bad that I don't care enough to even try?
I don't know what a fail would mean for the rest of the course... there are four independent modules. I would need to pass them all (and well) to do the second year.
And I know some of you will be reading this and screaming "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" Don't do second year women!" But I'd like the option to be available to me if at all possible! Not necessarily at the end of the first year! But I don't know what a fail would mean for my longer term options. (Or even my shorter term options... maybe they won't let me do the next module...)
Though it's all speculation becaue what am I doing right now instead of uni work... yes, here I am! On MSE
And in an hours time I will be watching the x-factor!
Hmmmm! I guess actions speak louder than words!
(I'm assuming they can't make me pay back the grant money awarded to me if I fail! Though I will have to stand in fornt of the committee and admit my name is nicca and I'm a naughty numbskull. Which will be embarrassing for me! But probably also for my boss who is on the committee. And who will have to admit she didn't give me any dedicated time in work to help. A feeble excuse, but there it is all the same.)
Anyhoo... perhaps I'll try a tokenistic hour of work!
(PS In case any of you are a bit worried, this isn't something I need to be competent at my job. I'm a professional.Just a tad lazy at learning. And with a little less stuff crammed into my wee head than the course co-ordinator would probably like.

PS I've been driving my courtesy car around. It's freakily quiet being that it's unleaded and I'm used to diesel! I've been driving holding my breath in case I don't hear the engine change and spectacularly stall! :rotfl:
Managed not to so far! And loving the posh, remote locking. And the ability to move both wing mirrors from the driver's seat.Plus it has 5 doors if I want to run around the car, jumping in and out like a loon.
Ah the simple things! I also like that it's burnt orange rather than boring navy!
Makes me hope I did score out grey on my new lease car form and put burgundy instead!
And it will probably make me like my wee Fiesta less when it comes back from the garage (the courtesy car is luckily also a Fiesta so at least most of the controls are where I expect them to be!)
But it's a good job I've only had fairly short journeys to make as I probably couldn't hold my breath for much longerJan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Nicca I really think this is a good excuse and your work should be taking a lot of the blame. It is great funding people to learn more but you have to support them in terms of time too. It is flipping tough working full time, running a home, having a life and trying to study. I've been there, done that and have the ruddy TShirt :rotfl: Not something I want to do again.
As for the second job - Grrrr to so many people off sick. I assume that leaves the three of you with 8 hour shifts each? Sounds very tough to me, hope it is only for the weekend. But then you get no break at all before going back to work on Monday
Has the walking sleeping bag thingumywotsit turned up yet?
Are the roads better, we have plus temperatures down here now and I actually saw the sun today :T
Rather than holding your breath, open the window a little (& may be turn down the radio :rotfl:) and you should be able to hear the engine. Breathing is important

Thank you Maty! I feel quite calm about having done nothing for it. Relatively speaking!!! There's more to life. Remind me I said this on Friday!!!!!
I got a card through from parcelforce today for the sleeping bag thingy. It's being held at the post office... which had shut early today so I didn't get it
It's apparently been there since Monday! And it would have been handy to have had it this week!
Snow has mostly gone. Some side streets are still bad but it's mostly ok now. Fingers crossed it remains that way!!!
Second job not too bad for me as main carer has been doing most of the hours. It just so happened the girls who are sick were working the shifts from Thurs evening to Sun evening. And 2 out of the 3 of us left to cover have other jobs too so it's been messy! But he's paying us before christmas so I'm quite happy to do the extra shifts!
I reckon I'll be able to pay £3k off the RBS loan by the end of the month!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

:j Glad it was Cher... but now I want them all to win! (Except really Mat or Rebecca more than One Direction, probably.)Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Very oddly, I liked Cher so I am disappointed.
Would like Rebecca to win now but suspect the teenybopper vote will make it One Direction.
:j:j Yay - To getting paid before Christmas
:j:j:j:j Double yay to being able to make such a huge payment to the nasty loan people
And breathe while driving!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0
