    I've been Money Tipped!
re books, we have two windows in ''our'' room in my paretns house. I assume the second one is still there, it was ''bricked'' up with books about 18 months ago. We have books under the bed, in the bottom of the wardrobe, in piles around the room, on my parents shelves, in DH's place in londoon...everywhere. Books are our worst because we feel its a ''worthy'' purchase. Most are very cheap, second hand, charity shops, gifts.

Loo roll is something I always buy on offer. DH once laughed because I bought something like 200 loo rolls. At the time we had a few spare roms, people buzzing in and out...for supper, for coffee, to stay....sometimes we had 8 or sopeople staying for a fortnight.....

the loo rolls got used really quickly. I buy them in bulk, because its not ike it goes off/goes out of fashion.

Hia, Crikey you are a chatty lot! Am only up to page 32.

Finished the Dove proage hand cream - it was ok. Nothing spectacular.

Donated a Laura Geller eye shadow (unused to sis) - bit too much glitter for me.

Donated an Avon serum (unused) to niece - I'm finding my skin is a bit sensitive and this said you need to use SPF with it and thought mmm may be a bit much for my skin.

Have reverted to my last pot of Clarins comfort cream cleanser. This is really gentle and b*ggaring around using others up upset my skin last week.

Right back to catching up, hope there's been no wagon falling off going on?

Forgot to say, I used up a brown hair conditioner today. WIBA? No. Smells nice ish but I've used nicer. I've also used up my natural collection mascara so I'm onto my No7 mini from the chainmail bag. It's ok, doesn't irritate my eyes like some do. I find the brush a little bit odd, anyone else find that?

Oh but they gave me another £5 voucher but I think I will try to chuck it.

    Snipped...

You could always leave it near a product it can be used on if you can bear it?! I do this with vouchers I know I will never use, I like to think it might brighten up someone's day :)

Something interesting is going on outside my flat, there's four police cars! OOOOh, off for a nosey...!

  • Yep, I have 4 bookshelves in my living room, plus a pile 'to read' next to the sofa, then there is a huge one in my bedroom, and the huge box I have in storage. I am moving house soon, so maybe a reason for a sort out, but I doubt it.
I know I have more for my birthday too. Having the Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood on TV) very excited :-D

Funnily enough, like some other ladies I too seem to stockpile and hoard items. I think it is a comfort thing for me but I don't really understand it. As well as the obvious stash of toiletries, I have amassed lots of books, candles, shoes, magazines and bags. I went through a phase of buying lots of vitamins and at one point I even had a soup cupboard....... :embarasse
Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.... :/

I relate to so many things said on here, eg. not having luxuries as a child, carrying the burden of guilt that my Mum & Dad had even less than we did and buying stuff because "I'm worth it". I don't want to be defined by my many material things and what I own.

Debt is not and issue here, if there was one thing that my parents taught me, it was that you don't buy it if you can't afford it. All my purchases are triggered by marketing, occasional boredom and my cleanliness obsession!

    TTFN x

This is so true for me. I am forever buying nice toiletries for my mum as I feel guilty that I earn a good salary and she sacrificed so much for us as kids. She is happy with what she has though, bless her. I remember reading a Liz Jones article on the DM website (hate DM but a friend sent me the article) and said that she cried thinking about her mum's dressing table with its pot of cold cream and bottle of talc, those were all the luxuries she had. It almost made me cry too.

And the marketing contributes just as much as the hoarding instinct. What complex creatures we are! This challenge has really made me think about consumption in a whole new light.
We an afford our lifestyle, but don't need too...and the money could be well used in other ways.

Same here. I feel like you are a mind reader! :o
