I have a real fear of wearing a perfume that someone dislikes so I tend not to wear any Although I am sure all my lotions and potions have their own scent. Does anyone esle worry about that? Or is another one of my oddities.
No, not just you - I worry about this too. If I put perfume on and somebody within a 4 mile radius sneezes I am convinced it is because I put too much on or that the smell disagrees with them!! :rotfl:
Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.... :/

Oh, it's OK, I've already seen that. I thought it was another pic with even more in than that ! Yup, that's impressive: my advice is thus

    1) Finish anything already opened
    2) Throw out all that is gone off (but don't open anything new to check - chance are it will be fine).
    3) Re-home anything that no longer works on you (I've had that a bit with shampoo lately)
    4) Have a 'this must be used' basket with one of everything in it in the bathroom (1 x shampoo, 1 x conditioner etc.), then replace when empty.

The rest of us are going to bet a bottle/tub of our favourite product on how long it will take you to use up that stash from TODAY (keep a count, love, and let us know).

I bet one Body Shop Watermelon Body Butter that it will take salesaddict exactly four years to the day (from today) to use up every product pictured on that table.

    Who'se next?! ;)

I was thinking 5 years tbh? I will certainly let you know and thanyou for all your advice which I assure you I will follow:A

    Hello LIR

you have hit the nail on the head here. Scents are so evocative for me, they really stir deep emotions for me. For years I could not bear the scent of fresh cut flowers. I would never pass a florist. (That goes back to losing my older brother when he was only 18 and I was just 13 the smell of the funeral wreaths and bouquets haunted me). Yet I love the smell of flowers in a garden especially Roses because they bring back memories of my Mum and her lovely garden.

I think it was Mags who asked me why there was no perfume in my stash.
Someone else mentioned working with someone who's perfume was overpowering and disgusting. I have a real fear of wearing a perfume that someone dislikes so I tend not to wear any Although I am sure all my lotions and potions have their own scent. Does anyone esle worry about that? Or is another one of my oddities. I know a really nice girl who I bump into on the train. If I can avoid her though, I will because the perfume she wears makes me feel sick. I am sure it is a very expensive one because she is very designer.

Also I should mention I have a massive stash of essential oils:o

I'm kind of the opposite, I probablyabsolutely reek of perfume, bodyspray, fabric conditioner and stuff because I'm so terrified that someone will tell me I smell bad. I used towork with a chap who quite frankly stank. Very badly. I was worried that people might have thought it was me so I am forever obsessed with washing clothes (no more than one wear) and spraying myself with thing. Daft huh?!

  • does anyone else feel the need to stash other things? such as vitamins, washing up liquid...food? or is it just me for which this stashing problem extends into the rest of my life?

I feel I should say, 'my name's Helen and I'm addicted to bulk buying and stashing pretty things'.

I painted my nails on Saturday, NYC Times Square Tangerine. Its more tomato red than tangerine, but I do like it. Oh and I found a moisturiser in a drawer at work today, so thats saved me buying one :D

I am not going to moan about the snow, have you seen Washington DC?:eek::eek:
Sounds good! Thanks. I hope I remember the name...

you know, we've had mosquitoes here almost through out the winter, not through the freeze, but with the thaw they came back, DH killed one last night. In the south of England. This is a new thing, surely? I don't remember this when I was a kid, horse flies, midges etc, but not persistent mosquitos?

Mosquitos? Goodness, I didnt know you could get them in England!

I didn't say I would win the bet! ;) But I hope you take it in good spirits, salesaddict: it's just meant in fun, with the aim of motivating you. You can try to deliberately make me not win by using it all up before/after that date if you like?! ;)

On the subject of smell, smells can be tremendously powerful memory triggers, hence why you couldn't bear the smell of fresh flowers for so long. You seem to find it particularly powerful. I don't know what your day job is, but have you ever considered training to be an aromatherapist? I'm hoping to do a course next academic year (Septmber onwards) one night a week at my local college. You could do it part-time if it wasn't convenient to do it full-time, or just do the curse for the fun of it and see where it gets you. If you had to work with oils etc. and buy them for work purposes, you might start to feel differently about all things nice-smelling. It might have a good effect on your buying habits. I'm currently doing a nail-course and am now of the opinion that small numbers of often and well-applied varnishes are the way forward, as opposed to having a million different colours bought on offers etc. I now know my money is better-spent at a beauty wholesalers than in Boots! ;)

Ladies I opened a No.7 mascara lash 360 today, it was so bad after an hour I had to remove it. It made my eyes water, I was continually rubbing them and it generally felt uncomfortable and tight.

It was the 1st time I have used a no.7 mascara, will I be able to take it back I do not have the original receipt?
Sorry if this advice is late, I'm just catching up after the weekend.

Phone Boots customer service, and tell them you had a reaction to it. They will give you a reference number and ask you to take it back to the store. The store will refund your money even without a receipt, as you had an allergic reaction.

(PS I don't work for Boots, but this is what they have done for me in the past)

I always buy a stack load of toilet paper, but I think this is because of my fear of being caught short. Living alone and having no loo paper is not something I relish!

Not daft at all, I had to tell someone I worked with that they needed to use deodorant and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I also had to tell her to stop wearing such low cut tops. Best wiped from my memory bank, she did not react well:o
