does anyone else feel the need to stash other things? such as vitamins, washing up liquid...food? or is it just me for which this stashing problem extends into the rest of my life?

I feel I should say, 'my name's Helen and I'm addicted to bulk buying and stashing pretty things'.

Absolutely! I'm an awful, awful hoarder of books, I just won't stop buying! A lot of them do come from charity shops for pennies, but there is hundreds and hundreds in teetering piles around the house

My OH is a terrible hoarder too, of just about anything, he has unopened easter eggs from years ago...CHOCOLATE STILL UNEATEN :eek::eek:

He also has unworn clothes and weirdly, tons and tons of tins of food! However, I can kind of understand this as his ex wife pretty much left him with nowt and plenty of bills

I didn't say I would win the bet! ;) But I hope you take it in good spirits, salesaddict: it's just meant in fun, with the aim of motivating you. You can try to deliberately make me not win by using it all up before/after that date if you like?! ;)

On the subject of smell, smells can be tremendously powerful memory triggers, hence why you couldn't bear the smell of fresh flowers for so long. You seem to find it particularly powerful. I don't know what your day job is, but have you ever considered training to be an aromatherapist? I'm hoping to do a course next academic year (Septmber onwards) one night a week at my local college. You could do it part-time if it wasn't convenient to do it full-time, or just do the curse for the fun of it and see where it gets you. If you had to work with oils etc. and buy them for work purposes, you might start to feel differently about all things nice-smelling. It might have a good effect on your buying habits. I'm currently doing a nail-course and am now of the opinion that small numbers of often and well-applied varnishes are the way forward, as opposed to having a million different colours bought on offers etc. I now know my money is better-spent at a beauty wholesalers than in Boots! ;)

Yes, that is something I would like to do.
But at the moment I need the biggest buck so I will have to stick with the evil Bank.
Good luck to you with all your courses.
    That sounds fantastic.
I hope you win the bet.:)

    HA! Definitely :-P

Come to think of it, there are a few things I hoard. Wasn't really something I thought about but I will buy tons of storage boxes, even if they are not needed, pens!!! I used to buy tons of cross stitch thread, and I buy books, SO SO many books. I can't stop, if I see one I want to read I have to buy it, even though I have literally a hundred or so at home that I've not yet read. ooh, and candles.

Not daft at all, I had to tell someone I worked with that they needed to use deodorant and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I also had to tell her to stop wearing such low cut tops. Best wiped from my memory bank, she did not react well:o

Ouch for you! The guy I worked with was told, several times, but decided it was an unruly customer with a vendetta  I went through quite a lot of Febreeze on those work seats :rotfl:. Bless him but he had terrible toilet and nose habits too *shudders* won't go into any more details :rotfl:

ooooh yes books- and they all have to have the same style cover from the same re-issue. Right now it's Val McDermid and Kate Atkinson, until I read them all it was M C Beaton and Jill Mansell. Although I have had to have a massive clear out! I've dished books out all over the place and have donated loads more to charity.

I also hoard contact lenses- because I once ran out and had to go on holiday without them  although I have been very MSE and stopped the DD for 3 months to catch up with myself.

I'm pleased there are other hoarders out there!

Edit: I also hoard cat food for fear that I have no money and he's starving... odd thought as I always have enough in a piggy bank to buy him biscuits at least!

I went to Boots today. I can see the top of my olay regenerist cleanser and, though I have another in stock, I had 2 vouchers. I also wanted to get another total effects self heating skin exfoliator as I only have this open one. I thought I had seen it in boots.
Anyway, there were no regenerist cleansers so I got 2 of the thermal skin polisher. I thought that when the other comes back in stock I could get the cleanser as a swap.
I also bought 2x FCUK Pure weekend bags. These will be gifts (unless I manage to get through my stash before I use them as gifts :o).

I returned one of the gillette fusion gift sets.

My total spend today was £2.63 :D. One of the fcuk sets was dirty so I asked for a further reduction. I got it for £2.69 :D. Then I brought it home and wiped off the muck and put it in my present box :money:. I also earned 48 points for my spend today.

Oh but they gave me another £5 voucher but I think I will try to chuck it.

Painted my tootsies a nice bronze colour workshop varnish. It's going a bit gloopy now so I'll see how it goes next time I use it. I may need to fling it though.

Anyway - to whoever said that they are addicted to tupperware and storage boxes, I am exactly the same! :rotfl:

I am not bathing/pampering tonight as I'm listing stuff on eBay, but am hearing nasty rumours about Paypal fees (on top of eBay's 10% final value fee eek) and am starting to think that I'll never make any money after everyone's had their cut. :(

p.s. I went to Superdrug today to get my 2True mascara (I actually ran out ) and was debating what other two products to buy to get the 3 for £5, offer then I stopped myself and just bought the one mascara! I was feeling so proud... then I bought a box of reduced Bailey's truffles at the till! :o

I also got some cotton pads for £1 in Semi Chem as I had run out... and ignored all the fab offers. Temptation avoided!!!

well done to everyone who used stuff up. :T

I've finally sorted my stash out today....Looking at it all makes me ashamed... But the story is this...
I've just moved into my bf place and had toiletries stashed here, and also had toiletries stashed at my folks, We worked abroad for years in the summer, and spent winters at home, so my time was split between 2 homes and a caravan!!...
Anway now brought it all down and arranged it into 1 cupboard.

OMG....think i'll still be using stuff up next year and the year after that...I'll be posting on this forum by myself coz you'll all have used our stuff up...
    :hello:No more toiletries challenge :T
