re hormones/spots and the pill...it didn't work for me,and in fact, I believe made life worse in other ways. Marzipanfish, like you I have both dry patches and breakouts (usually chin, or at least worse on chin). In fact PCOS and medication changes and problems mean I've had far worse brekouts in my late twenties and not early thirties than I ever id in teens/early twenties.
. I have tried lots of different skin care things, and suggest that its the only thing you can do, and be prepared that something that has worked might fail in the future, and what works for one might not wrk for another. eg. glowgirl recommends freederm for spots, I haven't fount it that effective, but last week some aveder outer peace cleare dup a nasty breakout very, very well. I am now oil cleansing, and have had no problems with dry skin since starting (and mine has at times been really sensitive and flaky.) I also beleive my breakouts are fewer and clear up more quickly, but they do still occur, and last weeks was particularly nasty (I had a medication change, but ultimately, its still spots!).
OK, survived three duty frees and bought the estee lauder night repair serum, as planned, and the concentrate version, as planned. And...NOTHING ELSE! Even an eyeliner (I didn't take one, planning to buy one in duty free, but didn't have time). In fact, it was great changing makeup a little as a result of having no eyeliner. I also bought some deodorant and toothpaste as one hd gone missing, one was forgotten. I finished a deodorant at home, so stash there remains the same...just an extra toothpaste.0 -
Hiya, at last my stash has begun to get a little smaller. Gave my mum 4 Liz Earle moisturisers, well she did say she liked them !!! used up a Elemis tri-enzyme serum and face wash. I did throw a Decleor tonifying lotion in the bin. It nearly took my skin off. Am all red and blotchy this am:(
There was a Liz Earle tsv yesterday and (drum roll please) I didnt lookor buy ANY A couple of months ago I would have stay'd up till midnight to order a few but since joining this thead I'm reforming.:j
That would have been me a while ago as well though now I tend not to use a lot of LE products. I was a devotee of C&P but since the formula has been changed it's not working for me - shame as I have a couple of bottles in my stash to use up! I also have some stock of the toner however want to find an alternative as it seems expensive now. I do however love the moisturiser and use it as a night cream.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: I had this tube for years because I always forgot to use it, so I am now covered in a really thick layer of it to use it up (it does say to apply a thick layer for an intensive mask
). WIBA: No, it's alright but doesn't do anything amazing for me. I think somewhere I still have a smaller tube from a GWP to use up too, I'll try to remember to use a thin layer of this every now and again.......posted by Beauty Addict
glad I am not the only one not to rate this(much as I love Clarins)it has no effect and feels just like any other cream, the one I love is the YSL,think its called radiance balm...its white with a built in brush and gives skin a nice tingly feeling when you put it on,sdaly mine is nearly finished so will have to start using the Clarins beauty flash from a previous goody bag, once that is gone I will look out for the YSL bonus time as love their foundation too .....of course then i will have more extras to add to the stash:rotfl:
just emptied a pack of EA ceramide advanced time complex capsules into a dish on my dressing table,I love these and buy online as a third of the price of instore
just started a clarins pre melt cleansing gel after a friend recomended it but I am not impresssed so WNBIA.
Have wizzed through the last few pages as so many and need to do some housework this week:eek:0 -

Luxor you've just given me a great idea... I'm going to behave myself and save up for my own bottle of No5 :T it'll give me a goal and a big reason to put some money away in a tin. Thankyou :T
Years ago I read something in a magazine about good perfume being worth the money - and after sharing a small, hot office with somebody who drenched themselves in what smelled like sheep dip, I agreed.
A little No5 (or Chanel Allure, or Rive Gauche ....) goes a long way and is easy to live with - unlike the minging body sprays that set off my asthma.
(edited to apologise to any sheep dip wearers who might be offended....! no apology to anybody who wears that coconut bodyspray that catches in my throat and makes me wheeze all day)I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
On Saturday I went to the Estee Lauder counter in Debenhams to get my 10 day free sample of their foundation which best suits me. The SA told me that from the end of February they are giving away a free gift set if you buy 2 products. I just thought about letting you know in case anyone on this thread are planning to buy from them and that you might be better holding on for a few weeks.
Sales addict (sorry I cannot remember the other people's names) - I am sorry to read about your loss. Take your time and get rid off things when you are ready to this. Perhaps grief and your issues with shopping are related? I certainly got more anxious for a long time after losing my sister and dad. I found talking to the bereavement charity CRUSE a couple times really helped me and after that I never felt embarrassad about my grief. Hope your dad's treatment is going well.

Well that has taken me ages to catch up. I only have the internet at work!
Thank you to all the ladies who have wished me well with my new romance, I am really hoping it lasts forever. (Two disasterous marriages behind me)
Toiletry wise, I have a L'oreal face brightening wash I have had since just before I got married the second time (5 years ago), I used what I thought was the last bit, cut the top off, couldn't believe how much more was left, used it one more time and threw it in the bin! Sick of the sight of it. I have lived in 3 places in 5 years and it has moved with me, didn't want it any more.
Also, I am down to my last shower gel :T.
I have to confess, I have never tried any Soap and Glory products , I am contemplating replacing my shower gel (when I have used it all) with one, what do you think? Or, will I get addicted and buy loads :rotfl:8 months to go till end of the IVA :j:rotfl::T0 -
Finally caught up on the thread
Didn't use much this weekend at all, DH was home and we had a nice social weekend catching up with people so no time for hot baths etc. And a busy week ahead as well.
Reporting back on the Rimmel nail varnish purchase, I'm pretty impressed. Think it was £3.49 for a bottle and on 3-4-2 at the minute. Did my nails on Sat night, had a swim and a major cookup yesterday including making pizzas for 6 people (pizza making is very tough on the nails due to the flour usage!) and my nails are only slightly chipped at the edges. With a touchup would def take me through another couple of days. The last bit of No 7 went in the bin and I'm deffo not buying that again.
gonna finish up my bath oil tonight
On the 'good stuff' debate I do tend to hold onto eg lush bath bombs until a night when I'm feeling cold and depressed and used it up then. It's a night when otherwise I would have a glass of wine
Welcome to the new guys and well done to those of you who have braved putting up the stash pictures!0 -
I got some soap and glory for Christmas. I've not used any yet but I have opened the bottles and had a sniff. I'm not overly impressed tbh. Maybe different when actually used but it doesn't smell like the FCUK stuff!
I'm very tired today, I'm about to switch off the puter and do my ironing. Then I will have myself a lovely bath and paint my toenails again.
I was supposed to be going out for coffee today but my friend can't make it so I will have a pamper sesh instead. I'm not working tonight so I've got my bedding in the machine and I WILL be the first person in it tonight! Love fresh sheets! Shame it's raining so I can't line dry it. Oh well, clean is clean innit!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Re: Soap and Glory - some of the stuff is gorgeous like the daily smooth (as i you didn't all know it's my fave by now), clean girls shower wash and the fab facial peel, I'm still working through trying other bits, not too impressed with clean mary, or hand food hand cream, and the original pink stuff is too sweet for me. I think you have to find the ones you like and try not to get dragged into the hype.
Smells totally different to the fcuk stuff, but both are nice
Right need to get away from the computer and on with my chores!!*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -

lush lemslip butter cream WIBA yes but only once i got down on my stash, loved the lemony smell and my skin is definately softer after all the pampering its had by being slathered with this before bathing (I've used it 3 times a week since joing the challenge
lynx shower gel it was dh's but hes been using it as bubble bath -no wonder my stash seems never ending
big bottle of apple scented shampoo - a whole family effort on that one and its finally empty after being stood upside down for the last week;)
m&s eaux mouisturising body spray WIBA NO!!! smelt chemically and had a faulty spray so gave a little spray then you had to pull the nozzle up again and repeat in little squibs all over. in fairness it was 50p from a carboot.
small bottle of charlie perfume WIBA i dont need to it stopped being my fave perfume when i was 20 but my mil still thinks shes getting me a real treat when she manages to produce yet another perfume or body spray by charlie. i have 2 more bigger bottles unopened and several body sprays
