I don't know, but at that price and that size you are looking at a 30 year + pay back period if you consider just the FIT price (about £180 per year).0

is there a minimum size to qualify for FIT? I can only fit three panels on my roof for a 4.2 SqM surface area. For some reason I thought there was a minimum of 8 SqM, but cant find reference to this. Just had an informal quote of £5.5k to fit them.
That quote seems very high. I have 1.44kwp on my roof - it covers about 2/3rds of the front slope of my house (I have a very small 3 bed semi). The area covered by the panels is 10.5m2, and I paid £7950 (I also got a £2500 grant, so overall I stumped up £5450). I have an option to put 3 more 180's on the roof using the same invertor, so that would be 11 in total.
Mine are 180 watts, I'm guessing you have been quoted for 200 watt panels - can you confirm though? Do you have either extremely small roof, or other restrictions?0 -

small roof on the back of a terrace house. These were for 210 Watt 1.6m by 0.95 m which (from looking on google earth!) the bloke reckoned he could only get three of on the roof space. It was not an official quote, more a bench mark figure, I wont pursue further or do the value calculation until I know if I'm elligible!0 -

Optimistic I think as is PMing for trade. Reported as spam.
Any new readers looking for certified installers should look here:

You must go through an MCS certified installer to get your Feed in Tariffs. Otherwise you'll likely end up with a 9p / kWh rate rather than circa 40p per kWh.0 -

Good advice no doubt but the 'Installer search' on this page is utterly useless. Put in North West and you get firms from Devon to Scotland to Ireland. Hundreds of them but hardly any actually in the NW!! In fact you get the same firms whatever region you enter so not helpful. Most of these firms won't work that far from their area.0 -

I see what you mean.
I tried their search too and you can certainly get an installer in 'sfsdjflkjdkgjdsljsdgj' and Rockall. :eek:0 -
grants are still in place to 31st march in scotland
but money in england - was withdrawn and i quote - diverted"The grants stopped in April 2010 when FITs started".
I had been watching this very closely.....and there was no mention of it...it was very quietly withdrawn....by the way it is not april 2010 yet......the grant was the same for installing any renewable technology..... just like GSHP, ASHP, Solar Thermal, wind turbines etc... the FITs which don't start till April is for generating clean electricity into the national grid. The RHI may well be payed from April 2011 but you can still get a grant for these.0 -
you need a micro grid system with 3 panels 160-220Wp
google mastervolt soladin - 600watts
steca SG500 -500watts
will accept 3 MCS panels 4metres square approx
can be extending to bigger sizes in the future
eg 7 sg500 will give 3.5KWp system with 21 modules
do not pay anymore than £1700 + vat for a complete system
£ 250-400 for inverter - £1000 for MCS certified modules
£5500 is a joke quote for a micro systemis there a minimum size to qualify for FIT? I can only fit three panels on my roof for a 4.2 SqM surface area. For some reason I thought there was a minimum of 8 SqM, but cant find reference to this. Just had an informal quote of £5.5k to fit them.0 -

Your posts are so stupid that they really don't merit a reply.0 -
You do need a MCS install to get FITs.0
