Surely the whole point of the Spending Cuts though was to get more money back to Whitehall to pay back the national debt built up by Brown and Blair? They would have been far better by saying "cut the DECC budget by x%"
I'd guess that DECC had requested a future budget increase and the £40m has been diverted to cover part of this and therefore reducing overall expenditure. As the energy companies handle all of the administration my guess is that it'll be targetted at another renewables project/technology funded in a similar way to FiT, that's why I menioned RHI ....

Don't forget that the increased energy cost to customers has an effect on inflation(electricity charges are considered in calculations of RPI) and that in turn will increase Government expenditure - pensions etc.

In case anyones been following the saga of my Tesco PV installation it seems my troubles aren't over yet. I have received a 'Parallel Connection Agreement' from my DNO Central Networks agreeing connection of my '1.73kw PV Generator'
Problem is I've got a 3.96kw system installed :rotfl:
When I emailed Central Networks G83 dept they say Tesco's installers the Mark Group have sent them incorrect information.
Also although I paid in full over a week ago I still havent received a receipt or any of the promised guarantee paperwork. Oh and still no MCS certificate either. :(

Hope Tesco's got prior approval from the DNO first- The maximum size you can install is 3.68kw under G83- approximately 16 amps.

Lots of people have gone as big as they can- but there is a risk that the DNO will charge you to upgrade the local substation.

    Regards

It's a shame that while you were registering here to respond to a 9 month old post you didn't take into account that the system in question is limited by the SMA3300 inverter to max ac 3600w, way below 16amps

OK tell us more and give some examples.

I tried to raise this point with the minister about 6 months ago. He did not have a clue what I was talking about so he turned to his advisers, who flaffed.

The general consensus of opinion was that the UK needed a massive investment in the existing grid. So the best advice was to get in quick before your neighbours overload the local system???.

Prior to having my system installed on 7 July I was told by the installers that I needed an "impact assessment" to ensure I would be allowed to connect to the grid, the cost of this was included in my quote. This was not mentioned by any other installation co and I have got a 3.9 system, perhaps this is what it was for?
3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch + Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since

My 3.995 kW system was installed by Solarlex from Halifax and on their quotation it says "liaison with DNO to agree approval for connection of system to distribution network" and the cost of this is included in the quote.
