Cheap HPI Check for Cars

A clean HPI wont mean its a safe buy. It maybe a scam. All the HPI will show is the car exists. It wont show who owns it.

Sometimes, but is someone going to check a 16 year old car? Its more likely to be a logbook loan which probably wont show up anyway.

Free checks are available for MOT's, previous owners and other car history information but a paid car check is essential. There are lots of cheaper options like Total Car Check but HPI Check is the market leaders and their information is the most reliable.

Sorry to resurrect this very old post but I'm buying a 2000 plate car for £700. I've done all of the free checks which don't cover finance. Is it worth me getting a full check? Can there be finance on a second hand car which is that old?

Update - I've just phoned the garage it was purchased from and they don't offer any finance. Could a bank loan be charged to a car?

Looks good enough. Basic info on the free check but had it all on a paid check. Don't' actually think they are up and running yet as there's a developement mode or something??? free report pretty much covers all basic checks MOT, TAX, Total Keepers, Colour change, plate change, Scrapped, Exported//Imported, vehicle age, mileage, VIN/Engine, mileage clock check, VIC inspected and a clever piece of text analytics on MOT advisory and failure items to give you highlights.

Premium report covers all checks including outstanding finance, write-off, police stone etc.. - They do offer premium report for free if you write them a review - its a win-win.

There is a site a bit different to them all which does full HPI, ex-Taxi search and also Salvage Check. If a car was written off anytime after 2015 they most likely will have pictures.

What's interesting their name was featured in an article by AutoExpress who discovered loophole where written-off cars are not correctly updated. It turns out 1 in 9 write-offs is not gonna appear on HPI....
