It is 8.10 pm. We arrived at our night stop just after 7.30pm after a rather fraught journey.
Owing to ice Soar Valley Way was closed this morning, so the removers were well over an hour late getting to us, however, they buckled down and started moving the packed boxes and packed the glass and china. The foreman was surprised that we had managed to pack so much ourselves.
Two problems they had a job to get the famous bed settee through the front door and the second wardrobe had to be taken to pieces as they could not get it down the stairs. It went up fine, but they could not get it down.
Our landlady came and collected a key and also brought us some flowers and a card, she wants us to keep in touch with her. The agent arrived around 1.15 to collect another key and I put the rest back through the mail box after I had locked up.
The van was full without any of the garden stuff so they had to go and get a trailer to pack the plants etc in. We left just after 2pm, they were to follow us.
As we travelled up the A46 we heard there was an incident at Scotch Corner on the A1M, we listened to the next news and discovered that they had closed the road the way we were going, so we ended up doing an extra 40 miles to get round the closure. I have never been to Middlesborough before, not that I saw much of it then, too busy concentrating on the road.
We came through snow outside Newcastle and rain a little further up. I had phoned the remover to give him an easier route than we used to get round the road closure.
We have had 2 cups of tea and our beef salad supper, I am just thinking about a shower and putting my feet up for half an hour.
I did not sleep too well last night, tonight I am shattered…….
Will report later……….Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Sorry to hear that it is very cold with you, and that some of you have had ice and snow, so I will be kind and not mention I have been sunbathing today
More work on the kitchen today, it is progressing nicely, but as always it is chaos. Managed to make a cottage pie yesterday, and had the second half of that with some beans tonight. Need to do some shopping tomorrow, plus getting some more bits for the kitchen, can't stop the workers.
Take care - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hester, trust that at your age you are tucked up snugly in your bed....such nonsense....if you can't hear you are *l**dy deaf, never mind your age, so they should do something about it..anyway if memory serves me correctly you are only a youngster!
Sleep well all,

More of a fuzzy feeling now, topsyturphy, and I feel sluggish.
I am getting a bit more sleep though, not loads, but more than the hour or so I was getting
I'm still really missing the tea but have substituted it for hot lemon squash. I'm not drinking as much as when I was drinking tea, so not as many trips to the bathroom
Thank you

Good to hear Franklin made it home safely, Bitsy.
I bet he had quite an adventure roaming round the store last night
Wonder whether he made a mess in his favourite aisle?
DD's 'Polo' was always eating the ice-cream when she was in bed
