Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 1t Feb .It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
:bdaycake:
Happy birthday Neav.
Work today, then home for a steak and glass of port....
Have a good day the rest of you...

Morning N9eav - Happy Birthday to you :bdaycake:
Having a quiet cup of tea before everyone gets up
I've been MIA lately
My college course has intensified this year, so back to spinning plates again
It will be worth it though, come June if I pass
Need to make DD's lunch box (chicken sandwiches on HM brown bread, grapes, yoghurt, muffin and juice).
Dinner tonight will be nachos (sadly not HM - but DH bought them back from Costco yesterday
).
Work today, need to clean the bathroom when I get home, then study study study tonight.
I hope you all have a wonderful day
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -

and
one of these. Hope
is kind to you so you can enjoy several of these
tonight
Right my weekend ended with a disaster. DS went out to supermarket with his Grandad last night and took his beloved bear out with him. Sadly bear seems to have disappeared  DS and this bear are best friends. He plays with him every day, cuddles him during the day and goes to bed with him at night. It was heartbreaking telling him that teddy is lost and we might not get him back
I must confess to be really upset about losing him. His teddy was such a big part of DS's life from birth it's like we've lost a family pet. I know I am pathetic for being upset about it but I really can't help it. DS hasn't kept asking from him (thankfully but I am waiting for that to happen). My dad is distraught as he feels responsible and even though supermarket was closed he went off up there to see if he could find it. Nothing in lost property but since they don't clean the aisles until early hours nothing else has been found. H is going up there first thing to see if they have found anything. Buying a replacement isn't that easy - we did buy a duplicate when he was small (cost £30  because it's a Steiff bear - bought by his GGrandparents not us) and he never took it so I sold it on ebay. His bear isn't worth anything as it's had to have reconstructive surgery on it's nose after being chewed and chewed and he's so well loved :rotfl:
Anyway OS today is cleaning and not much else. Not sure what's for tea at the moment. Going to see a friend this morning after school run so that will be nice.
Sorry for the long post
Anguk - I hope you are holding up OK xx
Diva - Hope you are OK x

Morning Bitsy. Hopefully the bear will be there today x0 -
Morning all
Happy Birthday N9eav.
Well I've woken up to snow this morning, it looks like only a dusting, hopefully it will melt soon.
I'm off to work soon & then to the Dr's for a hearing test later at long last, don't hold out much hope of any offer of help or treatment TBH, but will see what happens.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning.
N9eav  Happy Birthday! Hope you have a good one :bdaycake:
Bitsy Know how you feel, we have lost several special teddies over the years & it feels strange without them. Hopefully he'll turn up this morning.
Diva Thinking about you hon xx
Anguk Big hugs to you both xx
I didn't go online at all yesterday so haven't caught up with the news yet. I'll read back soon.
Going to have my hair cut this morning :T It's the first time in ages so I'm really looking forward to it. It's halfway down my back at the moment & all I really do is tie it up so I'm going for a neck length layered bob with highlights
Should be lovely & hopefully I'll feel like a new woman!
I'll be doing the usual Monday clean through before I go and start the prep for tonights tea of chicken curry with rice & hm flatbread. Lunch will be a sandwich when I'm out and about.
We had one of the M&S large chickens last night for tea and it was really lovely. We used both breasts for our meal and cut the legs & wings off for DH's supper last night & tonight. I picked the rest of the meat off theres a side plate full ready to be made into soup tomorrow :money: I also got their lean minced beef at £5 for 2 packs really good value I thought.
Have a good day all & hugs if they're needed.0 -
Good Morning everyone

Bitsy, hope little bear turns up
Absolutely freezing here again, very heavy frost. Have turned the heating up, gonna wake up DD in a min but she went to bed last night at 7pm with a dodgy tummy so have a feeling she might be at home today. Seems half the village have a tummy bug.
I will be in my office all day - have loads to do but will put my head down and get on. OH is at home today and will do the housework, he is quite OS & is partial to Stardrops.
Leftover cauliflower cheese for lunch, not sure about dinner yet as didn't get round to menu planning yesterday. Needs to be something with mushrooms though as have loads to use up. Might do a little fry up hmmnn......(though in reality grilled coz of OH)
Anyway best get on, have a good one.x0 -
Morning peeps
i`ve not opened the curtains yet so i`ve no idea just how bad the weather is out there, all i know is that it must be very cold as the boiler is working overtime BRRRR!
Todays plans are to do all the little jobs that didn`t get done in the last few days or so, i had lots on my list but not enough hours in the day to finish everything, later i plan to pick up the cleaning and call in the pound shop as i see they have lots of bargains for the garden at the moment.
Happy Birthday N9eav :bdaycake: enjoy the steak, it sounds lovely.
Hester - I hope that you get your hearing sorted out, if the doctor dosen`t seem to want to do anything then insist that he does. Easier said than done with some i know but you`ve had this problem for far too long already. I`ve got my fingers crossed for you today.
Bitsy - Good look with your bear finding mission
Sunnygirl - OOH your new hairstyle sounds nice, i really must sort mine out. I`m also guilty of just tying it back
Right the kettle is screaming out "boil me" so i shall make myself a nice cuppa and surf away until DH prises himself out of bed - oh and he was chuffed yesterday as he actually caught a fish when the weather was so cold
Anguk - Thinking of you both ((((HUGS))))
Have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Happy Birthday N9eav , Have a great day xxx
Morning all,
Cold and frosty here again today, but I must say its lovely having the car port, no ice scraping for me :T.
OH is in the bad books this morning, he has been snoring all night and making strange noises , apparantly I hit him really hard in the night
.
More painting for me today, I need to do the window sills in the conservatory, as always its taking longer than planned as we keep finding other jobs to do, we bought new lights for it yesterday, so we are on the finishing straight now.
I have two loads to put in the wm today, will hopefully get it on the line, I need to hoover through, and clean kitchen and bathroom, and do an online shop.
Yesterday while the chicken was cooking I made a batch of twinks, some with all spice and ginger, and some with a marshmallow on the top, which melted slightly, they are lovely, but dd cannot eat the marshmallow ones cos they have gelatine in (i forgot )
I also made a creme caramel from a packet mix which has been hanging round for years, and it was very nice, it was nice to do a bit of baking.
Anguk still thinking of you, big hugs xx
Jackie your post yesterday bought tears to my eyes too, you have such a way with words xxx
Bitsy I hope Bear turns up, I still have my childhood bear, went everywhere with me from the age of 18 months.
OK need more tea, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Anguk - hugs and lots of love to you and your family
N9eav - Happy Birthday to you, hope you have a lovely day and I'm rather partial to a glass of port so have one for me later!
Dark, cold and frosty here with the threat of snow - deep joy!! Monday morning seems to roll round so quickly doesn't it? Have already emptied the WM and put the clothes on the airer as we are leaving the heating on at the moment, so hopefully that will be dry by the morning. Will be cooking roast pork, mash and veggies for dinner tonight - it's what I had planned for yesterday but we didn't get chance or time to do it - so have just jiggled the menu plan. Have only got half an hour lunch break today as we are short of staff over the lunchtime period but the upside is that I get to finish half an hour earlier tonight - hence why I will have time to do a roast on a work day! OH and boys are having haircuts tonight too. Had a nice weekend, quite quiet but got several bits and pieces done and am keeping on top of all the jobs etc so house is relatively clean and tidy, have identified a few jobs that I want to get done, need to sort out the coat rack in the porch - we seem to have about 20 coats and there's 4 of us - think there must be some on there that don't get worn! Both boys clothes cupboards need a good sort out and so does mine and hubbies - I will do the boys in Feb half term as I'm on hols that week so they can be around to do "trying on" if necessary etc. Hoping for a quieter Monday as the last two have been manic somehow I don't hold out much hope as forecast is not good for us over the next few days so they will all come in today before the weather worsens. Have to go and get ready, have a good day everyone.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
