Slightly longer than 30 mins but I have
Brushed hair
Took make up offsdx
Pulled tracksuit on
Decluttered a can of red bull and 2 bottles of water
Washed dishes with sunflower oil in rubber gloves...
Gathered dirty clothes from baskets upstairs and brought them downstairs
Put wet clothes in TD
Refilled WM
Picked up poop from back garden _pale_
decluttered kitchen
mopped LR
Left mop in bucket of bleach to clean it
In between all this time, I discovered a note in DS school bag from the head teacher asking me to make an appointment with the school as DS had been involved in an 'incident'
I asked him about it and the little wotsit and some other brats were chucking stones at cars.... so hes been shouted at and grounded for forever.
I need to desperately find some painkillers....Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

kids have gone to their dads so I must crack on
and I MUST 'pop' to town to get soluble parrots and a sympathy card for family of my jam mentor...
would it be appropriate, d'you think,. for me to write, in the card, of the legacy she gave me, teaching me to make jam, lending me her equipment and encouraging me? It's something for which I will always be grateful..
even the recipe I posted on Thriftlady's preserver's thread, for Vera's Rhubarb and Ginger Jam, which I still make and which was my first ever jam, came from her.
When my first step father died, there were loads of cards, but the ones my mother remembers the best were the ones that mentioned things like how the sender knew him and memories of what they used to do years ago (he was 93 when he died).
I think your suggestion for the card will be welcomed. Those left behind will love to know what she meant to you and why.

I have spent nearly the whole of the last hour shredding and putting paper in piles so it will be easier to file it all. I've been shredding things from 2005! The stuff in the big bag of paperwork is just from 07 onwards but the folders I brought here with me are from 05-07, all my statements neatly filed away, those were the days! One day I will be organized again! Anyway, I've got a lovely neat table with dividers on saying what each pile is for and then on top are the relevent items - bank statements, cc statements, house insurance, car docs etc. Then when the big bag of paper is empty I can start on each pile and put them in date order and file them away properly. This may take several weeks! LOL!
I feel I was very productive though as I was doing my French lesson at the same time, listening to the CD, which I've not done since October! :oWe are going to France in April so I need to catch up and brush up.
I'm going to have a bath now, not had one since Tuesday so I'm a bit stinky!
Valli I’m sure the family of your jam mentor would love to hear how much she helped you, families love to hear little stories about those they’ve lost and they will be able to look back on your card in years to come and it will bring back happy memories to them of when they saw Vera making jam. I went to a funeral once and at the wake they had a box and lots of pieces of paper and pens on the table, and they wanted everyone to write their memories of the deceased and post them in the box. I thought that was a lovely idea"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Valli - I agree with the others and think you should put your memory in the card. When we went through my Aunts cards in December, the ones with things like that in them were the best ones, especially for my uncle and cousin. xx

I've been to the butcher and have a large shoulder of lamb so hopefully SOMEONE will turn up for lunch tomorrow. Still, at least it will do for weekday lunches cold.
Trying to mealplan for me and the builders. I'm not sure how domesticated they are (I know it's not very...). Last time they were here they were doing the kitchen, so ate out every night, but they don't necessarily want to do that after a long day.
Lunches I will leave them cold lamb, cheese, bread, soups and salad stuff.
I'm out late on Monday, so need to either leave something in the SC with instructions as to when to switch it off, and what to serve with it (and how to cook that) or something they can reheat without making a mess.
Tuesday I'll be back in time to cook
Wednesday my brother is coming over but neither of us will get here till 8pm so it needs to be something either they can start off by bunging in the oven or as SC meal
Thursday I'm not sure whether I'm going to be here or whether a friend might be coming over in which case it'll have to be either fish or veggie (I don't know whether the builders will eat fish
Friday they'll probably be gone before I get home
I could do a pigeon casserole one evening; I have chicken pie innards and pastry in the freezer, and some sausages from the butcher which could either be done with veg and mash or with lentils (which is how I normally do them).
Any suggestions appreciated...
Suppose I'd better get on and get some of the study sorted before lunch...0 -
