Grr AOL pls help so i dont have to call them again !( losing conection )

Options
Since before xmas i have been having intermittent connection problems , called AOL December and they reckoned it was due to the weather ! ok i gave them the benefit of the very ''big doubt'' but thought ok maybee they were right !
However problem persisted & had enough today , needless to say i got knowhere & if i have to call them again i fear i may have a stroke or similiar

Problem is that i could be on line and i suddenly loose conection & i will have local connection only but no local and internet.
Mornings seem worse when switch lap top on i have had to restart it a few times before i get the connection.
AOL tried to tell me today the usual garbage which takes about a half an hour for them to ask me to do things when i know all along that its ''not'' what they are (waisting my time and money telling me) anyway he said take this filter out off there and that one out of here !!!! so i eventually said you know what i have a brand new shiny D-link router with new filters cables etc, so iam just gonna set that up and that will rule out faulty equipment ......so i did...and whilst he was on phone i got it all set up and away i went , everything dandy ...UNTILL same again is happening, iam so sick fed up !!
Just got online after trying since 5.30.
I dont know if this is relevant but when i first start up the lap top i sometimes get a mesage saying windows defender is not turned on so i always go turn that on, i presumed it would always be on because i dont disable it, so could there be a problem there ?
Another ( maybee coincidence ) whilst i had no conection somebody called my house & after i just put the phone down my conection returned !
Please somebody advise because i really havent got the stomach for AOL again

Thank you

If your phone line is provided by BT then it would be a good idea to rule out a line fault.

Start the process by going to their web page for phone/broadband problems.

    Good luck:D

Are you anywhere near end of your contract ? . I was with AOL and had same problems for months and got nowhere trying to find fault (all AOL do is blame you saying its your pc when they cant sort it) numerous calls to AOL trying to solve problem . I left after contract finished joined Sky never had the problem since .

if you can somehow get throw to T3 support for AOL they would help. But it is almost impossible as u need to go to T2 second.

My isp dont have a t1 straight to T2 which suits me ;).

Have a look at this post from a few weeks ago when AOL was causing havoc with banking and other secure sites.

That sounds more like a wireless or Vista issue, have you tried using an ethernet cable?

(assuming wireless, restarting the laptop has no effect on the router to isp connection whatsoever)

When it drops, have you checked in the router config whether the ADSL connection is up or not?
