Well I haven't learnt my lesson. Or little boy has his forename followed by THREE middle names and then our long surname, making his full name 32 letters in total! We've had it if we ever want to put his full name on anything! :rotfl:

    CG. x

PS. We do have very good reasons for doing this before anyone tells us we're daft! We wouldn't normally have done it but our rather unusual situation dictated it for us.

my little girl is called Mia (pronounced meeya) due to my italian roots, but our son is Jacob Matthew Frederick Andrew + surname, (Mia picked his first name, she was really into the tweenies then) so i know what you mean when you have to put full names down on anything haha! and we also have reasons for it, did you do the thing of writing down the initials to make sure it didnt spell anything lol! :D

My little brother's called Michael and his initials spell out MICK, it was a total accident as he has both grandads names as his middle names.

I don't have anything against unusual names but sometimes the spellings of some names just make the parents look stupid and the poor kids are left with the monstrosities for life.

I say that but I've got no ideas what to call my kids, I like Lucciano for a boy and Ailsa for a girl but not sure what my boyfriend will think.

    Names date people don't they?

I mean if you see a bloke's name on an application from and it says Christopher you'd have him down as maybe middle aged.

If it says Kris he's probably in his early twenties.

If it says Kerristoffer then he's probably a baby!

The country will be run by these people in about thirty years time - the Prime Minister might be called Bethanneknee Smith! Your bank manager will introduce himself as Mr Dragon-Breath Jones!

I am of course assuming that you only do this once you have established that the child does not have any overseas heritage? Otherwise you would be potentially assuming a child of a differing ethnicity to be of lower intellect/potential than someone called Emily? How do you do it? By checking the ethnic monitoring forms or making assumptions based upon the colour of their skin?

I take children as I find them. My post said I assume the parents are illiterate. <rolleyes>

Go argue with someone else but do them a favour and get your facts right.:rotfl:

I knew someone called Karina who was very upset when Toyota decided to name one of their cars after her.

I don't like either I'm afraid. Even Yannis is a horrible name, sorry!

I much prefer traditional names than the silly modern ones that parents insist on nowadays.

    ......I much prefer traditional names......

but both Yannis and Nicos ARE traditional - just not english traditional.
  • I like nicos but i reakon people will think its short for Nicholas.
Peraonally I like quite traditional names like Saul, Jacob, Christian, Gabrialle. Or I like Ludovic, Ludo for short.
Why not try saying the name for a few days in your head and out loud, when you alone! And see how if feels rolling off your tongue.
